I have to say, this is very well written. You have outdone yourself this time. You tackled an issue that hasn't been explained properly. There's a lot of people pushing the idea that "texas is broken, Surtr and phantom are dead" and giving people questionable information or "texas is overhyped" but refusing to elaborate the proper use case for texas instead of "higher dps than Surtr". And while I did understand everything you said in this video before you said it, I'm happy it's out there for more people to see and I have something to link to that explains why.
im fairly new to arknights, but i feel like i see the "omg [new operator] is broken, [old operator] is dead" argument CONSTANTLY. thats why i really appreciate these videos as well, that actually EXPLAIN instead of just jumping on the hype or hate train
I pulled Texalter, not having a Surtr of my own, thinking: "I'll finally have a mini-Surtr nuke to drop on my enemies." Fast forward a few days, I haven't used S2 at all, just dropping S3 whenever and wherever it's convenient, enjoying Annihilation Missions (which I despised before) like never before. Calling her a Top Tier QoL is more than accurate.
Yeah people been overselling the "mini surtr" thing too much she is indeed like that when you use S2 but S3 got so much utility that you will find yourself use it way more often

Wow. I am very surprised to learn that Texas' third skill is considered to be her main one. Even after she was released, Phantom and Kafka continued to have niches for the purpose of stalling. I had never stopped to consider how staggering the difference in power Between them and Texas S3 was. I leave this video convinced in that regard. However, I still find that some more emphasis has to be placed on account progression when answering this question. While Texas is undisputably the best for older accounts, I would argue that new and progressing players stand to benefit the most from Mlynar or Ch'alter. They are at the point in the game when DPS is the sole deciding factor in clearing a stage, rather than CC and such. I would also say that these accounts make up the majority of the user base. Still, very enlightening video. It has definetly helped me realize which skill to prioritize for M3 first.
eh, I looked more at the average midgame account which, I think by definition, makes up more than early game accounts for someone with say, half a dozen 6*s, and are playing relatively well with pulling for gameplay units and so on, odds are they have *some* form of strong dps, and borrowing is always an option for dps units, as opposed to say, skalter or sexas which holds a lot of value in regular qol - not even discounting their raw value good points though

This has absolutely nothing to do with the question of the video, and I say it solely because I am desperate and salty to get Nian already, and 300 pulls is a very high price tag. I am coping to this day that I missed her not once, but twice already
As he said in a midrange account pretty much anybody can do dps. Lower numbers than broken numbers are offset with better strategy. And any midrange account will have several 6* just because of the game. Texas alter is more than numbers.
Its funny for me, a newbie that began on Mlynar banner how you, experienced player "would argue" what is the best for newbo. I mean, its been quite a while since you have been there. So let me tell you about Mlynar, because i was lucky enough to pick him in first 10. He absolutely revolutionized my account. I did everything to max him ASAP, and he made 99% of stages a fucking breeze. Other units served purpose just to stall so he can get his special ready. Yeah, i agree that "some other operators" would be more beneficial to me early on, but dont trivialize Mlynar impact on newbie accs. You make him your win condition and build around him. And it works. Theoretical debates "which unit is best for newbies" are pretty meaningless since we have no luxury of picking our operators, its gacha roll. Mlynar lets you finish content that would be impossible otherwise, and in a month or two you catch up with the rest of team anyway.

Thank you for the deeper dive into Texas with this video. I knew that Texas was very powerful but never looked past the surface level of that power until this video. Its actually kind of refreshing to see S3 out performing S2 because a lot of arguments for operators typically hinge on the raw DPS level and not the utility they bring. The fact that Texas literally has a higher DPS skill but outshined by something else in her kit with lower damage but better utility is nice to see and brings forth some light that it isnt always about the highest raw number. I personally don't think Texas is the defacto strongest operator but i also don't have anyone in mind who would be stronger, perhaps just equally as talented. Arknights is a game conposed of the operators and their nuances and synergies. You need more than one operator to get the job done usually. Yes, i am ignoring Ling here. Lol. Texas is the strongest because, as a fast redeploy, she has mapwide presence. Part of what makes Chalter and Mlynar so good is their ability to cover 2 lanes. While it isn't full time, and isn't 2 lanes AT ONCE, the freedom to place her anywhere and erase entire waves is invaluable
Great vid, but as a Bagpipe lover I take exception to not placing Bagpipe in the Irreplaceable category. You're argument is that not using Texas alter in EN feels awful compared to CN. I'd argue that the exact same thing applies to Bagpipe. The game feels completely different with her. The speed is unparalleled with Bagpipe compared to not. Still love your vid but I had to nitpick this.
oh me not specifically putting bag there doesn't mean she isn't ranked highly - the video is texas centric so i'm comparing her against the best in each category, and the others are just there for benchmark purposes; i can't exactly place every single unit thrice on a single screen, after all, and bag's already the benchmark for qol
I think bagpipe doesnt make as much of an impact unless its cc - the game is completely playable without flagpipe squad, I myself have all of them e0 yet I completed all the game content with ease. And - its not just about how quickly you can get your team when your team slots are limited(if you dont have high utility units) In other words - any vanguard is viable, and stronger vanguards might not be able to give you as much dp, rather give you as much use of the early game and keep being powerful in the endgame unlike myrtle that you decided to take in your slot(the upcoming Vigil is a chance for you to overlook your playstyle)
bagpipe value has "slightly" been reduced by Cantabile just existing (as 90% of players should own her at high pot because Gavial/Pozy is a busted banner) she is great opener also, S1 and S2 being different play style/ openers.

I would be interest in a bigger list for replacability /RAW Power/QoL Especially replacability. Knowing which 6 Stars are basicly Impossible to replace would be quiet interesting
Thorns Any boss killer physical or arts depending on the bosses sometimes both. Usually SA/Mlynar/Surtr/Eyja and now Texas. Nightingale in the recent year became the most high value medic in the game basically trivializing entire boss fights by herself. The rest is pretty much flexible. However i will say Texas Alter is most likely the most flexible character the game will ever see.
Texas Alter is insane in IS3. The artifact that gives arts damage for every stun, and the ones that increase your damage for the first second of your skill makes her a monster clearing machine. Skill 3 just deletes gigantic mobs of enemies instantly
Early difficulties, probably under 4 or so, she can straight up solo the first boss and the creeps that spawn in the middle with any relic that increases stubs lol (Later on, enemies get enough free RES that texas doesn’t hurt much. She’s still super strong, since s2 shreds res for early damage and s3 stuns for a billion years)
It might be a hot take, but I actually very much like units who have not only 1 usable skills. Like, I'm kinda tired of all these 6 stars where it's basically trash-trash-m3 or something alike and prefer units like Saria/Spalter/Skalter, who have at least 2 good and different skills. It just feels like I'm getting more character per character because I can change the skill if I want to according to the situation. Probably going to m6 Texalter at this point.
I think there’s another CN “only” category and that’s lack of foresight. What I mean is, if you didn’t pull Texas on release, or if you didn’t have enough to hit the 300 pity, you would have a much harder time getting her again, vs Yato, with half the pity, or other standard ops, that can be spooked or come back around. It’s situational, but I think is an important thing to consider as strong operators you don’t have don’t do anything for you (though friend units mitigate that some). For GL, we have NO EXCUSE lol
To me she falls into the same category as Ling. There are units that are great in certain areas or even in between...then you have Ling and Texas that are just..."WOW". Between Texas and Yato, Yato is more niche or ST shredder while Texas is much more multipurpose.
Great video as always. I agree with your claim about the criteria to determine the good/best operator in the game. High dps usually comes out on top, but I never thought ppl should only look at dps to judge the viability of an operator and ignore the other parts like the utility and strategies offered. I always prefer using an operator that can open up more playstyles and strategies rather than just an instant-clear button, it seems like I have to get Texas alter at all cost.
texas alter is a deploy and forget unit with massive DPS comparing to other peers. hilariously, i wanted phantom badly, and i got him in recruitment right after i pulled texas alter.
That was me and SilverAsh, pulled Mylner and was like, the fuck is this shit? Uncle's the goat, even if he mostly just draws agro, it's such a QoL improvement.
Whilst I don't necessarily agree that Texalter is the best 6* (that is a hefty topic that will require lots of rumination and a lot of comparisons of every single 6* in the game), I ABSOLUTELY agree with the sentiment that brute force dps isn't as good as most people think. In the end, dps is the most widespread option in the game, where even a lot of crowd-control and support units also have some dps capabilities. I think support units or units that can solve multiple problems well are inherently better than big dick dps, and executors are very powerful because they are a spammable body (so even if the unit is unblockable they can still serve as bait) and they also solve other problems, in this case Texalter's crowd control. I think the concept can be best described as quantity over quality. Not that quality isn't important, Texalter's s3 still has really good cc and stun capabilities, more that even though it isn't absolutely OD on paper, Texalter being an executor means you will be seeing that skill a lot more than a different crowd control skill (the one that comes to mind is mostima s3 but that isn't very fair to mostima). Not to say that quantity is always better than quality, NG s3 is the epitome of quality over quantity, but Texalter's spread of high quantity and good quality is particularly potent for her. Also massive tangent, I'm done with my main point so you can stop reading this now, it's surprising how many people don't value the power of extra bodies. Even if Deepcolor/Mayer/Scene and Phantom are somewhat reliant on deployment limit, you're still getting anywhere from 1 extra cyclable body with good crowd-control/dps to 7 very spammable bodies that could easily stall an enemy for a significant period of time. Your squad size increases tremendously even if the units have less impact. As seen by CC, having a larger squad is preferable even if deployment limit is going to be more limited, and being able to feasibly stall most enemies (unless they're unblockable) and divert attention from other operators regardless of squad size is huge in my book. This is just a rambling that I haven't thought through a lot though.
It's all about force multipliers. Range is one of the biggest pluses. Thorns and SA would be much reduced w/o their range. Rosa has been very under rated for being able to control 2 lanes, and i dont think any unit is immune to her harpoon. You can point GG at a wall and still destroy and stall units for a large portion of the stage. Skalter makes everyone into a 6* Let's not even talk about Abyssal team modules. Fast redeploys bring utility in spades. Being able to pull them and drop them again anywhere is a force multiplier. And in arts damage, and pulsed crowd control in a 9 block grid with excellent damage...
@@crimsondemon6231 ling imo. I use her to trust farm every stage. There’s always a solo ling video on any hard stage which makes me rate her as the best 6*. Texas is insane on how she can just delete anybody on the map which is warranted on why people say she’s the best
I have been playing Texas since she first came out and have never once used her S2 outside of IS3. The damage is good but her S3 just has so much more utility, especially when I have units like Surtr or Chalter who can do higher DPS. IMO Texalter is the best operator in the game, not because of her damage, but because of how easily accessible that damage is.
I have only been playing for about a year and do not have a really good fast redeploy built i do have phantom, but never ended up building him and by the time i wanted to i had heard about texas... I really underestimated a sort of bailout to the point that even dorothy has felt like a significant help to me. So i am really excited to use texas when she comes to glb
I remember people saying if you have to pick one you should get Mlynar and skip Texas. Because of the explosive damage. I did the opposite, skipped Mlynar and pot6 the Texas(yeah I could get both but I wanted to spark Skalter). She made my "IS" runs very consistent and I legit haven't even consulted a single guide video on the event yet. I feel like this character enables the easy mode of Arknights. Also, I haven't even tried her S2 yet. Some say it's the superior skill.
I quitted Arknights in mid February. Why am I watching Arknights videos all of a sudden at 1:30am. Anyway If you read this Drails I'm happy that the voice of reason of Arknights is making again videos as yours are definitely the best at least of what I remember. 👊👍
The only op that would rival her in terms of irreplacability is Kaltsit s3, Since she cheeses alot of mechanics in the game - Too much def and res? Kalt'sit - Enemy takes (x)% less phys and arts damage? Kalt'sit - Enemies has dodge? Kalt'sit Yeah sure there is Nearl alter s3 as well but imo she has other issues like 1 blk, Is limited, 15sp vs 45 and the weird mechanic where she or the sword has to block the enemy
@@Ak4set Simply for the pure bigger true damage number abuse. Remember Kal S3 the attack power diminishes over time, and total sum of the damage inflicted by Kal S3 is lower than Nearl S3. In scenarios where you need to kill a boss in one burst cycle, Nearl S3 is better. Still, I personally prefer Kal S3 over Nearl S3 for the stupid fast skill cycle for on-demand true damage source and free block 3.

@@Ak4set Talking about general content, I don’t think Nearl's weakness with being a dreadnought and long SP cycle is dismissable. Again, in future events the true need for true damage is usually reserved for bosses or annoying elites (I don't count the cursed SN dodgefest rerun). In latest general CN contents so far I seldom see either Kal or Nearl and instead I got Texalter every-fecking-where, just proving how accurate this vid is.
I think I agree with 80% of what you said but I disagree on the conclusion I still think bagpipe is the best op in the game you need DP to get to sutr etc. in the high end content and like in gen content she just is QoL. but it is comparing apples to oranges so like who you value more is gonna depend on account state. like before I pulled bag pipe I didn't need her after I pull bagpipe she is perma in my squad. an argument for skill 2, you just deploy texas next to the boss and have someone else tank the hits texas loses a little damage but her skill 2 multipliers are still insane enough as they are. like you aren't taking texas for her what 14% damage increase. that is also assuming the boss doesn't just stop at some point and you can just texas the boss while it sits there. so like it isn't like her bossing is bad but also others have "better" tools for it. and on the replaceable side of things for example Silver ash is irreplaceable when his talent for redeploy times come up(so stall strats) and that is about it. however I wouldn't say that his niche is particularly needed in most contexts. having a FRD assassin is cool and all but when there is a single blue box and all the enemies meet up at a single part of the stage you can really just alternate helidrops the times where she shines above other strats is in incredibly complex maps with a lot of lanes where moving between locations and threats is super valuable and that just doesn't actually happen a whole lot most of the time we at most get 2 maybe 3 lanes. not saying she isn't good in 1 lane content it is her value diminishes as there are other strats that work on low brain power deploy mountain here= win isn't exactly hard. the thing that makes irreplaceable good is that you actually need what it brings for example NG was trash in the beginning of the game because the amount of arts damage in the game didn't put stress on ptilopsis enough to warrant building her. being irreplaceable out of context isn't a strong argument you have to sell what you bring is actually need to say the contexts in which it is good. I think you do that in this video you showcase. irreplaceability shouldn't be one of the three main categories as there are very few talents/skills that are truly irreplaceable and they are all incredibly unique cases when they do not saying she isn't the arguable most flexible DPS in the game but trying to say that she is better than NG or bagpipe just feels wrong she might be more flashy than the two of them but like flashy just means more people will immediately see the power not that they aren't doing. I also don't think that there is an objective best operator in the game mainly because I think supports are way more valuable to have in general mainly because you can make a "bad" DPS do whatever op you compare to levels of damage way easier that it is to get +6 SP on your vanguards or whatever talent you need. also welcome back hope your break from content creation was refreshing. also you do my boy vigil dirty he might be that bad but at least he is based and cool
You can still get the boost from sexas module if you just deploy her one more to the right from your defender since it's just her four adjacent tiles, now there is the issue that some maps don't have room for it but hey you can always use S3 for those situations
I prob have her and Ling neck and neck/slight Ling bias, but can def see it. Also very based on the Skill choice, since day 1 I've always defaulted to S3 and opted for S2 when I need it specifically. I would also put Bag up there but MuMu makes her less of a necessity nowadays and is now 'just' optimal.
I noticed he avoided discussing Ling 🤣 like he brought her up in the beginning, but when it came to the scales 🤫🤫 I find it weird how all content creators hate her, but are fine with Surtr and Balans (drop on boss, press button, win is more engaging ?)
I'm tempted to roll for Potentials, since she's the strongest Operator in the game. Now that Muelsyse is out, I wish I saved my Royal Vanguard tokens for her instead of using on Bagpipe tbh. I have one set of Royal Tokens for Sexas. Maybe I'll see how the rolls are going and go from there. I managed to get P5 Chalter from lucky rolls and Royal Sniper Tokens.
Ive been sitting on 8 specialist tokens, debating Texas or Yato. Id love to roll more on Texas, but too many ops coming up that i want. Gnosis, Reed, Yato, Ines, Mumu ... the hits just keep coming. I lowkey want Ratgirl, but it's a weak archetype i dont enjoy surrounded by a ton of great banners.
Absolutely agree that she isn’t a boss killer. I can’t even use her against famiglia cleaners. Edit: it is really important (if you want to fight bosses) to catch peons along with bosses to get that skill reset
The fact that texas alter was given the amount of power she has for the cheer big ass amount of texas fans at the CN begging to make her broken, now basically i wont say shes the best 6 star at general content because of how people use her that can be a little squishy sometimes.
My delima is settling on what I want to call her lol. Yeah, she definitely can plausibly be called the overall strongest unit in the game imho from a value perspective as she just offers so much.
I didn't watch any guides on IS3, since I pulled Texas alter, I wanted to try out Texas. Managed to complete IS3 on second try. (regular difficulty) Didn't think I need to tell you who was the MVP. edit: grab a DP printer, cause all the repeated deployment really ate up DP.
can you do a more indepth analysis with comparing kirin yato and texas since a lot of ppl love comparing both as well, and a lot of ppl are already saving for yato too

I won't lie, I'm not a fan of titles like this since it usually leads to pretentious vids or just clickbait, but you make very sound points as to her being a really good all-rounder and QoL. Imo Texas>Yato since physical damage multihit doesn't go well, arts multihit will always be good
She's the first Executor i got, and she definitely change my Arknights life (got me to clear a decade old stage I haven't clear yet, finally) With the upcoming Collab Banner, my Arknights gameplay experience will be a breeze if i got Yato to go along
Its cool that her kit is so strong, though im holding out for dragon bro lol. Ill have to hope to get lucky (i never do lol) in the banner but otherwise expecting to just get the non limited or an off banner which....apparently my terrible luck likes doing lol.
Blue woman still the best imo. Trust farm is out of control. And her S2 is refreshing after all the Magallan S3 pain beforehand. S1 is very IS-friendly too. Cheap, fast, just let them die so her personal Atk goes up. Use skill on cooldown to keep regenerating her pool of spammable 1block dragons. Not replaceable, great impact, and great QoL.
In my opinion she's the best trust farm character but that's all, she's too slow and expensive in most of end game content. I personally like her a lot but at this moment she's just the lazy-brute-force-trust-farm character for me
So judging from wha you're saying here. Texas Alter is one. Becaues she's almost seemingly irreplacable. Because of skill three. (among everything said) By that logic. Yato Kirin is easily 2. Although she doesn't have that stun. She's as everyone says, Texas Alter. And with her also being a specialist. So, I'll take it. 1 and 2 are nuke specialist.
Ahh.. I remember when someone said Texas is bad when she first came out and I was like, ain't no way you calling that ridiculous S3 AoE Stun, decent damage on FAST REDEPLOY weak. I wonder what that guy doing now with his poor life decision.

My first OP to ever get potentials on , ended up with pot 4 texas and pot 4 penance in 300 pulls. Man, seems like potentials don't really effect much at all in this game compared to other gacha games.
Comparing apples with pineapples. Shouldn't you compare operators with nearly the same skills, perhaps same branch? Definition of "strongest" depends how you use ur operators, therefor comparing texalter with surtr seems out of question (medic squad for endless dmg boost). Morelikely Phantom and yato alter. Mlynar in comparison needs to charge, making him as an possible opener not the best option
there's semantic meaning to looking at objective strength across different classes and archetypes, otherwise you end up with a scenario where nobody is stronger than the other since "you can't compare"
Does Projekt Red still have any notable niches over the other FRD? I’ve been wanting to mastery one of her skills but it seems like her S2 is basically a worse version of Sexas S3 and her S1 isn’t nearly as impactful compared to Yalter or Sexas S2. Idk which one to go for.
Nah Texas is Red Upgrade on steroids The only niche thing I can say about her is when Enemy have Res +80 and Def +4000, she can deal minimum dmg about 400 no matter how Bulky is their def But that's also get powercreep by Texas S2 thanks to -30 Res which mean she do 30% True Dmg Anyway if u need stun grenade tool, she's still great ops to do that if u don't have Texas or u run a Full Squad Fast redeploy
There's one thing I can't quite grasp with this analysis, around the 10 minutes mark. Your statement of Texalter being both the most QoL unit in the game, combined with her general performance in your 2 other categories, is somehow compatible with her not trivializing stages to the same effect Surtr used to do back in the day? I understand that Texalter S3 isn't the same kind of monster other units have proven to be in the past, be it Bagpipe reshaping the entire vanguard meta or DPS gods single handedly breaking stages in half... but given her absurd amount of utility, I fail to understand how she could possibly not triviliaze the stages to a similar extent in her own manner, especially if she's to be considered the best unit in the game. That's the one gripe I have with this analysis.

here's the reply I promised: three major reasons; 1) evolution of mechanics since surtr, 2) increased interactability, and 3) general uptick in game difficulty considering a unit like surtr now, she doesn't really trivialise the game at all, or anywhere near the extent she did when she was first released. in the video, i alluded to release surtr, which is astronomically different to her current performance which is impeded by the overcrowding of bloat like EMB, sanity damage, etc similarly, the game has gotten significantly more difficult - and for good reason - and it stands to reason that *no* unit in the game will ever offer the same raw proportional performance as surtr did in the past in making a claim such as "X is the strongest unit", analysing previous clear-cut cases of objective superiority was a necessity - to which past surtr was the benchmark lastly, texas' power is more soft - requiring more deployments, more interactions with the team, and giving overall more proportional value to all but the most beginner of accounts - rather than the uniform, raw power of surtr

There's a lot of people pushing the idea that "texas is broken, Surtr and phantom are dead" and giving people questionable information or "texas is overhyped" but refusing to elaborate the proper use case for texas instead of "higher dps than Surtr".

I pulled Texalter, not having a Surtr of my own, thinking: "I'll finally have a mini-Surtr nuke to drop on my enemies."
Fast forward a few days, I haven't used S2 at all, just dropping S3 whenever and wherever it's convenient, enjoying Annihilation Missions (which I despised before) like never before.
Calling her a Top Tier QoL is more than accurate.
Yeah people been overselling the "mini surtr" thing too much she is indeed like that when you use S2 but S3 got so much utility that you will find yourself use it way more often

Wow. I am very surprised to learn that Texas' third skill is considered to be her main one. Even after she was released, Phantom and Kafka continued to have niches for the purpose of stalling. I had never stopped to consider how staggering the difference in power Between them and Texas S3 was.
I leave this video convinced in that regard. However, I still find that some more emphasis has to be placed on account progression when answering this question. While Texas is undisputably the best for older accounts, I would argue that new and progressing players stand to benefit the most from Mlynar or Ch'alter. They are at the point in the game when DPS is the sole deciding factor in clearing a stage, rather than CC and such. I would also say that these accounts make up the majority of the user base.
Still, very enlightening video. It has definetly helped me realize which skill to prioritize for M3 first.
eh, I looked more at the average midgame account which, I think by definition, makes up more than early game accounts
for someone with say, half a dozen 6*s, and are playing relatively well with pulling for gameplay units and so on, odds are they have *some* form of strong dps, and borrowing is always an option for dps units, as opposed to say, skalter or sexas which holds a lot of value in regular qol - not even discounting their raw value

As he said in a midrange account pretty much anybody can do dps. Lower numbers than broken numbers are offset with better strategy. And any midrange account will have several 6* just because of the game. Texas alter is more than numbers.
Its funny for me, a newbie that began on Mlynar banner how you, experienced player "would argue" what is the best for newbo. I mean, its been quite a while since you have been there. So let me tell you about Mlynar, because i was lucky enough to pick him in first 10. He absolutely revolutionized my account. I did everything to max him ASAP, and he made 99% of stages a fucking breeze. Other units served purpose just to stall so he can get his special ready. Yeah, i agree that "some other operators" would be more beneficial to me early on, but dont trivialize Mlynar impact on newbie accs. You make him your win condition and build around him. And it works. Theoretical debates "which unit is best for newbies" are pretty meaningless since we have no luxury of picking our operators, its gacha roll. Mlynar lets you finish content that would be impossible otherwise, and in a month or two you catch up with the rest of team anyway.

Thank you for the deeper dive into Texas with this video. I knew that Texas was very powerful but never looked past the surface level of that power until this video.
Its actually kind of refreshing to see S3 out performing S2 because a lot of arguments for operators typically hinge on the raw DPS level and not the utility they bring. The fact that Texas literally has a higher DPS skill but outshined by something else in her kit with lower damage but better utility is nice to see and brings forth some light that it isnt always about the highest raw number.
I personally don't think Texas is the defacto strongest operator but i also don't have anyone in mind who would be stronger, perhaps just equally as talented. Arknights is a game conposed of the operators and their nuances and synergies. You need more than one operator to get the job done usually. Yes, i am ignoring Ling here. Lol.

Texas is the strongest because, as a fast redeploy, she has mapwide presence. Part of what makes Chalter and Mlynar so good is their ability to cover 2 lanes.
While it isn't full time, and isn't 2 lanes AT ONCE, the freedom to place her anywhere and erase entire waves is invaluable
Great vid, but as a Bagpipe lover I take exception to not placing Bagpipe in the Irreplaceable category. You're argument is that not using Texas alter in EN feels awful compared to CN. I'd argue that the exact same thing applies to Bagpipe. The game feels completely different with her. The speed is unparalleled with Bagpipe compared to not. Still love your vid but I had to nitpick this.

I think bagpipe doesnt make as much of an impact unless its cc - the game is completely playable without flagpipe squad, I myself have all of them e0 yet I completed all the game content with ease. And - its not just about how quickly you can get your team when your team slots are limited(if you dont have high utility units) In other words - any vanguard is viable, and stronger vanguards might not be able to give you as much dp, rather give you as much use of the early game and keep being powerful in the endgame unlike myrtle that you decided to take in your slot(the upcoming Vigil is a chance for you to overlook your playstyle)
bagpipe value has "slightly" been reduced by Cantabile just existing (as 90% of players should own her at high pot because Gavial/Pozy is a busted banner) she is great opener also, S1 and S2 being different play style/ openers.

Thorns Any boss killer physical or arts depending on the bosses sometimes both. Usually SA/Mlynar/Surtr/Eyja and now Texas.
Nightingale in the recent year became the most high value medic in the game basically trivializing entire boss fights by herself.
The rest is pretty much flexible. However i will say Texas Alter is most likely the most flexible character the game will ever see.

Texas Alter is insane in IS3. The artifact that gives arts damage for every stun, and the ones that increase your damage for the first second of your skill makes her a monster clearing machine. Skill 3 just deletes gigantic mobs of enemies instantly
Early difficulties, probably under 4 or so, she can straight up solo the first boss and the creeps that spawn in the middle with any relic that increases stubs lol
(Later on, enemies get enough free RES that texas doesn’t hurt much. She’s still super strong, since s2 shreds res for early damage and s3 stuns for a billion years)
It might be a hot take, but I actually very much like units who have not only 1 usable skills. Like, I'm kinda tired of all these 6 stars where it's basically trash-trash-m3 or something alike and prefer units like Saria/Spalter/Skalter, who have at least 2 good and different skills. It just feels like I'm getting more character per character because I can change the skill if I want to according to the situation.
Probably going to m6 Texalter at this point.

I think there’s another CN “only” category and that’s lack of foresight. What I mean is, if you didn’t pull Texas on release, or if you didn’t have enough to hit the 300 pity, you would have a much harder time getting her again, vs Yato, with half the pity, or other standard ops, that can be spooked or come back around. It’s situational, but I think is an important thing to consider as strong operators you don’t have don’t do anything for you (though friend units mitigate that some). For GL, we have NO EXCUSE lol

To me she falls into the same category as Ling. There are units that are great in certain areas or even in between...then you have Ling and Texas that are just..."WOW". Between Texas and Yato, Yato is more niche or ST shredder while Texas is much more multipurpose.
Great video as always. I agree with your claim about the criteria to determine the good/best operator in the game. High dps usually comes out on top, but I never thought ppl should only look at dps to judge the viability of an operator and ignore the other parts like the utility and strategies offered. I always prefer using an operator that can open up more playstyles and strategies rather than just an instant-clear button, it seems like I have to get Texas alter at all cost.

texas alter is a deploy and forget unit with massive DPS comparing to other peers. hilariously, i wanted phantom badly, and i got him in recruitment right after i pulled texas alter.

Whilst I don't necessarily agree that Texalter is the best 6* (that is a hefty topic that will require lots of rumination and a lot of comparisons of every single 6* in the game), I ABSOLUTELY agree with the sentiment that brute force dps isn't as good as most people think.
In the end, dps is the most widespread option in the game, where even a lot of crowd-control and support units also have some dps capabilities. I think support units or units that can solve multiple problems well are inherently better than big dick dps, and executors are very powerful because they are a spammable body (so even if the unit is unblockable they can still serve as bait) and they also solve other problems, in this case Texalter's crowd control.
I think the concept can be best described as quantity over quality. Not that quality isn't important, Texalter's s3 still has really good cc and stun capabilities, more that even though it isn't absolutely OD on paper, Texalter being an executor means you will be seeing that skill a lot more than a different crowd control skill (the one that comes to mind is mostima s3 but that isn't very fair to mostima).
Not to say that quantity is always better than quality, NG s3 is the epitome of quality over quantity, but Texalter's spread of high quantity and good quality is particularly potent for her.
Also massive tangent, I'm done with my main point so you can stop reading this now, it's surprising how many people don't value the power of extra bodies. Even if Deepcolor/Mayer/Scene and Phantom are somewhat reliant on deployment limit, you're still getting anywhere from 1 extra cyclable body with good crowd-control/dps to 7 very spammable bodies that could easily stall an enemy for a significant period of time. Your squad size increases tremendously even if the units have less impact. As seen by CC, having a larger squad is preferable even if deployment limit is going to be more limited, and being able to feasibly stall most enemies (unless they're unblockable) and divert attention from other operators regardless of squad size is huge in my book. This is just a rambling that I haven't thought through a lot though.

It's all about force multipliers.
Range is one of the biggest pluses.
Thorns and SA would be much reduced w/o their range.
Rosa has been very under rated for being able to control 2 lanes, and i dont think any unit is immune to her harpoon.
You can point GG at a wall and still destroy and stall units for a large portion of the stage.
Skalter makes everyone into a 6*
Let's not even talk about Abyssal team modules.
Fast redeploys bring utility in spades. Being able to pull them and drop them again anywhere is a force multiplier.
And in arts damage, and pulsed crowd control in a 9 block grid with excellent damage...

I have been playing Texas since she first came out and have never once used her S2 outside of IS3. The damage is good but her S3 just has so much more utility, especially when I have units like Surtr or Chalter who can do higher DPS. IMO Texalter is the best operator in the game, not because of her damage, but because of how easily accessible that damage is.
I have only been playing for about a year and do not have a really good fast redeploy built i do have phantom, but never ended up building him and by the time i wanted to i had heard about texas... I really underestimated a sort of bailout to the point that even dorothy has felt like a significant help to me. So i am really excited to use texas when she comes to glb

I remember people saying if you have to pick one you should get Mlynar and skip Texas. Because of the explosive damage.
I did the opposite, skipped Mlynar and pot6 the Texas(yeah I could get both but I wanted to spark Skalter). She made my "IS" runs very consistent and I legit haven't even consulted a single guide video on the event yet. I feel like this character enables the easy mode of Arknights. Also, I haven't even tried her S2 yet. Some say it's the superior skill.

@@Ak4set Simply for the pure bigger true damage number abuse. Remember Kal S3 the attack power diminishes over time, and total sum of the damage inflicted by Kal S3 is lower than Nearl S3.
In scenarios where you need to kill a boss in one burst cycle, Nearl S3 is better. Still, I personally prefer Kal S3 over Nearl S3 for the stupid fast skill cycle for on-demand true damage source and free block 3.

Again, in future events the true need for true damage is usually reserved for bosses or annoying elites (I don't count the cursed SN dodgefest rerun). In latest general CN contents so far I seldom see either Kal or Nearl and instead I got Texalter every-fecking-where, just proving how accurate this vid is.
I think I agree with 80% of what you said but I disagree on the conclusion I still think bagpipe is the best op in the game you need DP to get to sutr etc. in the high end content and like in gen content she just is QoL. but it is comparing apples to oranges so like who you value more is gonna depend on account state. like before I pulled bag pipe I didn't need her after I pull bagpipe she is perma in my squad.
an argument for skill 2, you just deploy texas next to the boss and have someone else tank the hits texas loses a little damage but her skill 2 multipliers are still insane enough as they are. like you aren't taking texas for her what 14% damage increase. that is also assuming the boss doesn't just stop at some point and you can just texas the boss while it sits there. so like it isn't like her bossing is bad but also others have "better" tools for it.
and on the replaceable side of things for example Silver ash is irreplaceable when his talent for redeploy times come up(so stall strats) and that is about it. however I wouldn't say that his niche is particularly needed in most contexts. having a FRD assassin is cool and all but when there is a single blue box and all the enemies meet up at a single part of the stage you can really just alternate helidrops the times where she shines above other strats is in incredibly complex maps with a lot of lanes where moving between locations and threats is super valuable and that just doesn't actually happen a whole lot most of the time we at most get 2 maybe 3 lanes. not saying she isn't good in 1 lane content it is her value diminishes as there are other strats that work on low brain power deploy mountain here= win isn't exactly hard. the thing that makes irreplaceable good is that you actually need what it brings for example NG was trash in the beginning of the game because the amount of arts damage in the game didn't put stress on ptilopsis enough to warrant building her. being irreplaceable out of context isn't a strong argument you have to sell what you bring is actually need to say the contexts in which it is good. I think you do that in this video you showcase. irreplaceability shouldn't be one of the three main categories as there are very few talents/skills that are truly irreplaceable and they are all incredibly unique cases when they do
not saying she isn't the arguable most flexible DPS in the game but trying to say that she is better than NG or bagpipe just feels wrong she might be more flashy than the two of them but like flashy just means more people will immediately see the power not that they aren't doing. I also don't think that there is an objective best operator in the game mainly because I think supports are way more valuable to have in general mainly because you can make a "bad" DPS do whatever op you compare to levels of damage way easier that it is to get +6 SP on your vanguards or whatever talent you need.

You can still get the boost from sexas module if you just deploy her one more to the right from your defender since it's just her four adjacent tiles, now there is the issue that some maps don't have room for it but hey you can always use S3 for those situations
I prob have her and Ling neck and neck/slight Ling bias, but can def see it. Also very based on the Skill choice, since day 1 I've always defaulted to S3 and opted for S2 when I need it specifically. I would also put Bag up there but MuMu makes her less of a necessity nowadays and is now 'just' optimal.

I'm tempted to roll for Potentials, since she's the strongest Operator in the game. Now that Muelsyse is out, I wish I saved my Royal Vanguard tokens for her instead of using on Bagpipe tbh. I have one set of Royal Tokens for Sexas. Maybe I'll see how the rolls are going and go from there. I managed to get P5 Chalter from lucky rolls and Royal Sniper Tokens.

I won't lie, I'm not a fan of titles like this since it usually leads to pretentious vids or just clickbait, but you make very sound points as to her being a really good all-rounder and QoL.
Imo Texas>Yato since physical damage multihit doesn't go well, arts multihit will always be good
iirc, yato beats sexas at anywhere below 800 or so def even on s1 (her worst skill) so it's not that bad a downside

She's the first Executor i got, and she definitely change my Arknights life (got me to clear a decade old stage I haven't clear yet, finally)
With the upcoming Collab Banner, my Arknights gameplay experience will be a breeze if i got Yato to go along
Its cool that her kit is so strong, though im holding out for dragon bro lol. Ill have to hope to get lucky (i never do lol) in the banner but otherwise expecting to just get the non limited or an off banner which....apparently my terrible luck likes doing lol.

S1 is very IS-friendly too. Cheap, fast, just let them die so her personal Atk goes up. Use skill on cooldown to keep regenerating her pool of spammable 1block dragons.
Not replaceable, great impact, and great QoL.
idk i don't see any endgame player seriously using ling and the ones that do either hate her playstyle or are doing it exclusively for record slaving
In my opinion she's the best trust farm character but that's all, she's too slow and expensive in most of end game content. I personally like her a lot but at this moment she's just the lazy-brute-force-trust-farm character for me

My first OP to ever get potentials on , ended up with pot 4 texas and pot 4 penance in 300 pulls. Man, seems like potentials don't really effect much at all in this game compared to other gacha games.

Comparing apples with pineapples. Shouldn't you compare operators with nearly the same skills, perhaps same branch? Definition of "strongest" depends how you use ur operators, therefor comparing texalter with surtr seems out of question (medic squad for endless dmg boost). Morelikely Phantom and yato alter. Mlynar in comparison needs to charge, making him as an possible opener not the best option
there's semantic meaning to looking at objective strength across different classes and archetypes, otherwise you end up with a scenario where nobody is stronger than the other since "you can't compare"

Does Projekt Red still have any notable niches over the other FRD? I’ve been wanting to mastery one of her skills but it seems like her S2 is basically a worse version of Sexas S3 and her S1 isn’t nearly as impactful compared to Yalter or Sexas S2. Idk which one to go for.
Nah Texas is Red Upgrade on steroids
The only niche thing I can say about her is when Enemy have Res +80 and Def +4000, she can deal minimum dmg about 400 no matter how Bulky is their def
But that's also get powercreep by Texas S2 thanks to -30 Res which mean she do 30% True Dmg
Anyway if u need stun grenade tool, she's still great ops to do that if u don't have Texas or u run a Full Squad Fast redeploy

There's one thing I can't quite grasp with this analysis, around the 10 minutes mark. Your statement of Texalter being both the most QoL unit in the game, combined with her general performance in your 2 other categories, is somehow compatible with her not trivializing stages to the same effect Surtr used to do back in the day?
I understand that Texalter S3 isn't the same kind of monster other units have proven to be in the past, be it Bagpipe reshaping the entire vanguard meta or DPS gods single handedly breaking stages in half... but given her absurd amount of utility, I fail to understand how she could possibly not triviliaze the stages to a similar extent in her own manner, especially if she's to be considered the best unit in the game.
That's the one gripe I have with this analysis.

here's the reply I promised:
three major reasons; 1) evolution of mechanics since surtr, 2) increased interactability, and 3) general uptick in game difficulty
considering a unit like surtr now, she doesn't really trivialise the game at all, or anywhere near the extent she did when she was first released. in the video, i alluded to release surtr, which is astronomically different to her current performance which is impeded by the overcrowding of bloat like EMB, sanity damage, etc
similarly, the game has gotten significantly more difficult - and for good reason - and it stands to reason that *no* unit in the game will ever offer the same raw proportional performance as surtr did in the past
in making a claim such as "X is the strongest unit", analysing previous clear-cut cases of objective superiority was a necessity - to which past surtr was the benchmark
lastly, texas' power is more soft - requiring more deployments, more interactions with the team, and giving overall more proportional value to all but the most beginner of accounts - rather than the uniform, raw power of surtr
Just like a wise man said “mumu is as strong as your account” so is texas if you don’t have reed and surtr also not using sexas s2 what are you doing wasting your pulls on a sub optimal unit to a collab character that can work alone and doesn’t need external help im very disappointed that drails cherry picked footage that make sexas shine and on top of that manipulating the viewers by doing “theoretical dps” move to sway the veiwers after all we know that pallas is the strongest guard and can easily shit on sexas just by the fact she has more “theoretical dps” and the strongest guard skill for all my fellow doctors this is pure cn propaganda this is what tectone have warned us about when he faced the full wrath of cn elitists(truly like the alpha that he is) so my brothers don’t get brainwashed and reject sexas we will not become braindead like cn and use her instead we will use our lord and savior phantom which you can have 2 of him on the field that is double the dps while you can only have one sexas stay strong my fellow EN players and don’t give into this temptation and become a simp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
