Long live King Harold and Queen Sonja - long may they reign. Long live the Kingdom of Norway and His overseas dominions, protectorates, territories and dependencies. And long live the relationship between Norway and Great Britain.
Ade Larsen : Both King Harold V of Norway and Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain are third cousins. King Harold was a great great grandchild of Queen Victoria and great grandchild of King Edward VII just as Queen Elizabeth was. Also King Harold and Queen Elizabeth are related to the Danish royal family as they both are third cousins to Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and both King Harold and Queen Margrethe were the great grandchildren to the Danish King Frederick VIII while Queen Elizabeth was a great grandniece to him. All three monarchs were the great great grandchildren to his father the Danish King Christian IX. Amazing relationships between three European monarchies. WOW!!!!!
Yes, Nidaros is the traditional coronation catherdal of Norway. While there are no more coronations, supposedly in recognition of Norway being a constitutional monarchy, both king Olav V and king Harald V undertook a blessing ceremony at the start of their reigns and this has come to replace the coroantion somewhat. Of cource this was all done while the church of Norway was still the state chuch, this is no longer the case. While I agree with the idea of a seperation between church and state, i wonder how the official transfer of power will take place when crown prince Håkon takes the throne..... For that matter, I don't see why we can't have a bloody coronation! The brits have a coronation, always seems to be a nice piece of specticle, so why can't we? Dosen't need to be a religious ceremony or anything, have it at the Storting like the speech from the throne, or the palace if the Storting idea ruffles some democratic feathers. To see the crown actually be used in an occasional display of pomp and pagantry would be nice....... Sorry, seems to have gone on a bit of a rant there...
@@henrikkjuus90 I totally agree! I find it very sad that the actual crowns, both king, queen and crown prince/princess hasn’t touched the head of a monarch, consort or heir to the throne in over a century! In fact the crown of the heir has never been used at all. I would LOVE to see them get used at LEAST once a year. The same goes for the other european monarchies in possession of official state crowns, as they rarely or never use them at all. I think it is too bad that the whole regalia collection is always on display and never in use. And yes, we don’t need a full on extreme coronation (allthough i am all for it if it were to be reinstated). But for god’s sake and the Kingdom of Norway, why can’t we reinforce the symbol of our actual state crown that represents our country and kingdom! The crowns and regalia are national treasures and symbolic treasures. But a lot of norwegians have never seen them or know what they look like at all. I find this very sad..
@@sigurdts6691 Exactly! Every time i'm in Trondheim I try to see the regalia. I tried to see them again in 2020, but they were closed due to Covid. I mean, they represent the state for goodness sake.
