if anyone is wondering if more ram would fix the stuttering, yes it solves 90% of the stutterings. I upgraded to 32gb recently and it improved the performance a lot.
I realise when I watch a lot of these videos, that they have been from a while ago and out of date, where they may not work the same anymore, is that the case here? Does this setup still run it? (Ryzen 5 5600x, 32gb RAM, SSD)
Damn that’s better FPS then what I get, I have basically the same rig exact same CPU and GPU and double the ram, homie must be runnin some fire ass settings.
You can actually run it on 16gb. The game basically uses as much ram as you have to achieve the best performance possible with your specs. So if you give it 16 it will use close to all 16 but will still run. If you give it 32 it will use close to all 32.
I agree. I hold 2x8GB RAM and still get FPS drop issues on games like: Icarus, Ready or Not. I suggest taking 2x16GB RAM if you are to play star citizen.
How do you manage these high fps? any special settings? My friend has about the same setup except he has an 2060Super besides your 2060. He has the game installed on an ssd and the same cpu. Any information?
@@lukasTHEwise So, I'm actually new to star citizen a little bit. BUT there's a couple of videos for new performance for star citizen that I followed. Ryzen 5 2600 with 5600xt wasn't as smooth as this, but was getting solid 40-45fps in most areas just by switching the priority to high in your task manager once you've started the game. Depending on if your GPU is stronger than your cpu would determine which settings you want to select. for some reason LOW settings were awful fps, but as soon as i switched to high, it made a world of difference.
@@cosmic2samcaptainpegleg541 Thanks for your info. Yes , high graphic settings will give the GPU more usuage. Bcs your CPU aint the fastest, using the GPU will relieve the CPU. I tried the priority setting but dont think it helps that much. I guess the Problem me and my friend have is RAM. 16 gb and only 2666 for me and 3000 for him. Game runs slower the longer my PC is active. Guess bcs of Other programs claiming RAM.
Got pretty much the same specs, just bought the game and can't even leave Area18 without the game crashing. My game is working fine when standing still, but when I start walking/looking around, it stutters back and forth from 2 - 20 fps.
@@braxton423 I managed to fix my issues by setting up a page file for my ram. Game can still be laggy at times (in big cities). But other than that I am enjoying the game a lot!
dude, i play in a ryzen 5 5600x and a gtx 1060 3GB and i get 40 - 50 FPS on 2560 x 1080 how can u get only 25 FPS with a 2080, try to format and update all your drivers, turn off all the windows secundary programs to make your pc faster!
hey i have rx 6700xt Should i buy the 5700x or the 5600x I'm a bit confused because I did my research and found there is no difference between these cpus (some games +4fps than 5600x) also in my country the 5700x is $40 more than the 5600x
I have the same system that you have, but in order to play it smooth without lagging or low fps I have to set graphics at low to enjoy 70fps. I'm planing to upgrade my card to a RTX3060Ti or a 3070Ti and increase my ram to 64gb.
Which is useless. Above 24GB you have no gain at all and most of the FPS are capped by your CPU or server lag. Raising the resolution might give you some improvement but do not expect miracles. Today gen 12 and, in the next future, Vulcan adoption could improve the situatio slightly but this game will never E-Sport FPS levels
2 questions... 1. Is it on an ssd? 2. How much RAM do you have? The site says 19 gb... But in REALITY you need MIMINUM 32gb. This game WILL GET MUCH MUCH BIGGER in terms of storage needs and RAM needs..... Hope this helps
if anyone is wondering if more ram would fix the stuttering, yes it solves 90% of the stutterings. I upgraded to 32gb recently and it improved the performance a lot.
Would you say the game is playable with 32gb ram? Also, are you playing the game on the SATA or NVME SSD?
@@13D00_ yes it is playable, fps is around 40 to 60 fps. Game was running on a NVME 2GB/s SSD.
@@gustavosantos4209 thanks!
I play with 16gb of ram and my memory usage. Goes as high as 96% and i have all settings set to low. Is there anyway I could lower down the ram usage?

You need 32GB of RAM because the game uses up all your 16GB of RAM and then switches to the page file and then back to your RAM over and over.
It does these days. Up until patch 3.13 you very rarely saw ram usage close to or above 16 GB and then only in specific parts of citys.
Yes. It spikes CPU usage while this is happening. I went from 16-32 because of this game. It's much better now..but optimization is long overdue now

i have 32 go RAM an SSD a RTX 2060 and im running on 20 fps
This makes me cry in RTX580
Don’t forget landing gear next time 😅
With the 2x8GB RAM, are you using anything extra like pagefile?
I keep getting told that 16gb of RAM might have some FPS drop issues.
I agree. I hold 2x8GB RAM and still get FPS drop issues on games like: Icarus, Ready or Not. I suggest taking 2x16GB RAM if you are to play star citizen.
Hey man, thumbs up! check out performance 16GB vs 32 GB RAM, this game eats RAM.
