Sorry for being late to the party, but if you want polish pronunciation of Arkadiusz Reikowski it's something like this in english:
    Arkahdyush Reycovsky
(checked in text-to-speech software and it's close enough ;)

This is an excellent review. I really enjoyed the game, the location and atmosphere was really excellent. However, I totally agree with the negative points you pointed out as well. The parts where you are in another person's mind last way too long. And I don't think the cat and mouse added anything. Being able to die at only a few key points made me more frustrated than anything. I think some of the miss-able side-quests were especially good - it would be worth playing to see them (or maybe just look up a lets play).
I played on XB1 and the framerates and performance were abyssal at times on that platform as well.

Thank you so much! This is probably going to sound weird but I love it when a game is both good and bad; an experience is often so much more interesting that way, whether it tries something new or just marches to the beat of its own drum. I'd much prefer that over an overly polished (but hollow) experience :)
      Thank you for watching!

There's no mistaking that this game's setting and aesthetics are heavily inspired by the historic and the very real Kowloong Walled City.
Go look it up if you don't know what it is.

Thank you for the heads-up -- what a fascinating place and surely an inspiration, even in part, for 'The Stacks' as you said.

Amazing review. Like professionaly done. Much better than big review channels do. You are really good at pointing out things in a game, that I or everyone else might not see. Haven't played observer, but intend to. Mind bending games or movies is my favourite thing in the world.
Great spotlight on score. I personally predict, that we will see more ambient tracks in games, because games become increasingly detailed, big and fast paced, melodic music will just be distraction from experience. It might be sad, but that possibly can happen in future.
Great review. Can't wait for next one! Playing through Wolfenstein 2 at the moment, so I hope it is about that! :)

Thank you so much for watching, I'm happy you liked it so much!
You're probably right about that (ambience taking centre stage) at least in larger 3D worlds/experiences, which just shows how much the medium is constantly growing and evolving :)

5:31 the music gave me bladerunner chills
and rutger hauer, seems to playing a "deckard-esque" role in this, a role reversal from his role in bladerunner
"...alas i have gotten used to games telling what to when to do..."
hmm think games should acknowledge the era we are in, which is one of abundance of games and shorter attention spans than prior generations and in-context incentivise the player, without being handholdy or worse patronising, to explore the environment. The recent deux-ex series... or even zelda:botw are great examples
thanks for highlighting this game, will be playing this game over the weekend
looking forward to ya next vid!

      That's a good point (role-reversal) -- I hadn't really thought about it!
It would be nice to see attitudes of video games past utilised more, though I suppose a large number of games do in the indie and AA space. I often go back and play games on my PlayStation 2 and the difference is so stark, not just in how games have changed but in how you interact with the game; it is quite surprising!

Having recently acquired a PS5, became very interested in Observer System Redux remaster. Specifically the Day One Edition with CD Soundtrack and Art Book collectibles. And recalling you had positive things to say on these elements of the game.
With the vocal work and images of the late great Rutger Hauer. Thank you for this, have this on order from a sale, so will see if I can cope with the abrupt gameplay changing moments.
Hope you’re doing well Noa and thriving, cheers from Chris Cotton.

ayyy. Always a treat to see a review pop up from you, Mademoiselle.
Always picking great games to shine a light on too, this is why you're one of my my favourite reviewers, enough of the verbal fallatio from me though lol. I keep meaning to check this game out since another reviewer I follow suggested this also. When ever you put up your next video I'll be there like always. Hope you have a great 2018.

here's to hoping you can get down a more solid upload schedule, since I think that's a big part of why you don't have as many subs as you should have. Random constructive criticism, I apologise lol Hope you get the amount the subs you deserve this year. ^_^

No need to apologise at all :)
Since I do this as a personal enjoyment thing, I have only really been able to do it if and when I can, which hasn't exactly made for a consistent upload schedule, BUT 2018 is already heading in a better direction. Thanks again!

Your content easily outclasses loads of people on here who make a living off of it. so, I think that with a good schedule and a passion for it you could easily jump in to the world of turning your hobby/passion in to a job.
I know it sounds like I'm being a kiss ass but you have a great personality/voice/video style that I know loads of people would connect with and would want to watch your stuff. Anyway, I'll stop pestering you. Have a great evening, Miss. :)

I really enjoyed this game. The only issue was that I couldn't complete it, since I was getting some crazy dreams afterward. I didn't feel overly-terrified playing it, but my unconscious must have been perturbed enough to give me weird dreams.

Wow... once again, your words were as complex and intricate as the visuals in OBSERVER were, hehehe.
Another thing that struck me was that we were playing a much older character. It doesn't happen that much in video games. Ones I know are Anna (Overwatch) and Old Snake (MGS4, though technically he is still young).

Very. Good. Point. Actually, that was what initially drew me to Remothered, an upcoming horror game; you play as a thirty/forty-something year old woman investigating a disappearance.

Great review. I agree with what you're saying here. A bit on the fence about the length of the mind explorations though, I see what you mean but I'm a sucker for surreal elements in games and those sequences are very good here for the most part. Definitely agree about cat and mouse feeling out of place. I haven't finished Observer yet because I really want to play it with a friend but the first hour or so really impressed me. It has the rare kind of storytelling and stylistic charisma that would be nice to see more of.
Also regarding Haunting Ground - I absolutely adore Daniella. She's one of my favorite... uhhh... creepy broken characters?

  • @realdiculous1

Lovely review. This type of game seems to go in favor of the argument that graphics do matter in games. If it wasn't for the level of realism this game can attain, due mostly to the technology behind it, I don't think nearly as much people would enjoy their experience while playing/watching it.

I find the impact of graphics and visuals really interesting; though I don't think poor graphics can ruin a game per say, visual design, style and presentation certainly plays (no pun intended) a large part in how players respond to and interpret the space.

Well, you've made me want to check it out again. I've never been a fan of 'walking simulators' and when I tried this game the first time I came with a heavy bias towards it, I like combat in my horror, raised too much on Silent Hill I guess lol
But as I'm working on a cyberpunk project atm I will def give it another go after watching your review =)

Seems like the kind of game that would get you pumped for Cyberpunk 2077.
Its a shame you upload so infrequently because you're such a good reviewer. And i like that you for the most part steer clear of the AAA games. You should consider doing games like The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter, The Witness, A Tale of Two Sons, Firewatch, Inside. Some of these I haven’t even played yet but they’re the type of games I’d like to see you do a video on.

If it's any consolation it is less of a traditional jumpy horror game and more like... eerie science fiction, which could be... worse? Hmm.

Oh, well that's fine then. I don't mind getting creeped out by the atmosphere as it often enhances the experience, but I hate jump scares since most of the time they just feel lazy and cheap. Thanks for clarifying.
