My late elder brother was on this show when he was 16. It would've been 1986. He was a helper with Age Concern and they had a segment on there and he got to speak about it. I so wish I could find that episode now and watch it. I miss him so much.

I could've sworn there was another woman on WIDE AWAKE CLUB before Machaela Strachan first came along. Ever since these very early episodes finished I always wanted to know the name of this woman before Machaela replaced her.
The irritatingly catchy theme tune, the tacky gaudy set…yeah, it wasn’t the best show on telly but good to kickstart the weekend while you were tucking into your cereal with your comic or Smash Hits. Remember Data Run with the Yazoo theme tune presented by Lulu’s sister, was it, and something called SPLAT! which stood for Soap, Puzzles, Laughter And Talent, featuring a kids improvised soap called No Adults Allowed, think a young Sid Owen, Ricky Butcher was on it lol. Then Number 73 with Ethel & co from about 10.30.
Does anyone know where to find the first episode? I’m on it as a 11 year old but missed it as I was loading jet pack on my spectrum and missed the episode launch
Let’s not pretend that this show was anything other than utter s***e. It isn’t good now and it wasn’t good in the 80’s. What made things worse was the fact it had Timmy Mallet in it. Possibly the most annoying person of the 1980’s BBC’s Saturday Superstore was far better.
What utter shite this was growing up as teenager this annoying crap made my ears bleed, u couldn't escape it as there was always some friend who had this garbage on if u went round to call on them, on their TV!!!

Arabella Warner, was her name.
