I really love when you go "see that thing over there?" and give us some time to try to find the fossil ourselves before actually showing us where it is. Very educative (especially because the places where I'm usually looking for fossils are from completely different geological periods than this beach, so I wouldn't know how to spot them here otherwise!)
Nice ! Everytime you were stopping to admire a huge rock with a fossile inside i was thinking "oh no, he won't break his back by taking this one home !". I hope you will show what the lobster looks like undigged.
I really love your channel. It takes me right back to my own winter fossil crab hunting days along the beaches of England. I'm scheduled for an urgent prostate cancer operation on Armistice Day, 11.11.11! When I recover, a fossil hunt along a beach is one of the first things I'll do. BTW... "Do lobsters have scales?" made me smile. Answer? No, but If it helps, a segmented abdominal carapace. ATB.
Thank you for uploading these. Its been a troubling time for a lot of us lately... These fossil hunting videos help take our minds off the worry for a while. So many cool bones out there!
I am from America and after the disappointment of November and now the ensuing chaos I value this time at the beach. Takes me back to some of the carefree times of my childhood.
When you're pointing out the crap who else was looking at the dark stone with the white highlights in the upper right and I couldn't tell the difference between a regular rock and a fossil for sure
I am just simply amazed how much fossils could be on this part of the NZ beach. I tried fossil hunting on shores of the Baltic sea and they were nowhere near as big or cool as shown in your video. It just could be geographical or historical differences and maybe I didn't find the right spots.
I would not have spotted that lobster in a million years! As far as what that part of the shell is called, its referred to as the carapace, just like on a crab.
After you picked up the crab at 3:14 , in the upper left I saw a pinkish what looks like an arrowhead. I'm not sure from the video but here in the US that would certainly be an artifact.
I think the only way would be a large helicopter but the cost and effort probably doesn't justify it in this case as it won't tell us very much about the animal without the other part of the skull and the earbones.
Awesome! What do you do with them? I’m guessing you expose the crab somehow. I would have never seen that had you not pointed them out! Fossils everywhere!!! I’ve never been on a beach with that many rocks in the States. I collect Agates. Would have taken that Jasper home;)
What does Fossilized wood go for other there?? I'd love to get a chunk of it, I have one from the fossilized wood for here in the USA from the west side of the states I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Hello Mamlambo. Asking you a question from over the pond in Victoria, Australia. What kind of geology do you find all these fossils in, and do you know of anywhere within Victoria which has this kind of geology? I would love to go fossil hunting here in my home state, yet I am worried that the vast volcanic origin of the state could hinder my efforts. So, as the only fossil hunter I know of even remotely close to here, do you know any tips to find these kind of places/know of any within my home state. No offence to NZ, but I don’t want to have to book a 3hr flight just to come and look at some rocks, which may (or may not) contain fossils. Thanks, an Aussie.
I wonder how the permit process is where he lives. Round my parts multiple glacier movements some 910m-1,800m thick seem to have ground most of the upper layers of ground near me into an unsorted mishmash of pulverized rock shards and boulders. Not a lot of good areas for fossil hunting, even ignoring the permit process. It seems surreal to me, to grow up as a kid in an area where nuggets of ancient beasts hide in rocks along the beach or streams.
I appreciate what you said under my comment from the other day, but I deleted it. I'm not letting certain people use it as a platform to bully suffering people. As always, thank you for what you do

Thanks again for taking me to the beach.
Dude I love your videos so much, they're so meditative. Your eye for finding fossils is unreal!
That last crab fossil looked really happy to be found🙂
Nice !

So pretty there. Love that you take us along on your adventures. I went along sipping on a cup of cocoa!

Awesome video! Many great finds, looking forward for the next video!
Thank you for this wonderful and informative video!
You are so welcome!
Looks like a lot of fun! I guess the weather must be getting better as you head towards summer "down there" 😃
What a great area, you've got the laser eye for the fauna. Great work!
Was watching the straps on your backpack. everyone is saying ''cool' not cool COLD. Thank you for taking us with you.

I assume you are from the UK?
I am from America and after the disappointment of November and now the ensuing chaos I value this time at the beach. Takes me back to some of the carefree times of my childhood.
Loved the bonus resting sea turtle at the end! Cheers!
I loved diving with them sooo much!
You find more fossils than anyone i know
Coooooooool . Thanks for sharing and the insets help a lot.
Very cool sir thank you for sharing this with us six stars
When you're pointing out the crap who else was looking at the dark stone with the white highlights in the upper right and I couldn't tell the difference between a regular rock and a fossil for sure
Love the interesting things you show us ❤
Love seeing all the fossils you recognize and I don't, lol. Thanks for sharing.
It would be nice if the whole whale is found! Incredible how large it is. Beautiful scenery! Thanks! 😊
Another great fossil hunting experience, thanks for sharing your adventure. It would be fantastic to see that huge whale fossil being recovered
It's in such a secluded cove, I have no idea how it would be!

Lot's of sand moving around N/NE Tasmania now! It's hard to hunt my agates 🙏
Always love your finds over there 💙
glad to see u back

Hay another great video 🤘
Free treasure and fresh air . What more could anyone want?
Love this channel!
11:40 that has got to be one of the biggest sea slugs I have ever seen! I couldn't figure out what it was at first LOL
10:12 fossilized ninja turtle
That is so awesome all the fossils you find on that beach.
I have a petrified ant nest in wood.
2:24 in the clay-ish bank on the right of the screen is a giant ammonite poking out :)
After you picked up the crab at 3:14 , in the upper left I saw a pinkish what looks like an arrowhead. I'm not sure from the video but here in the US that would certainly be an artifact.
So with those really large fossils, how are they extracted? Can machinery access the beach to remove them for the museum?
I think the only way would be a large helicopter but the cost and effort probably doesn't justify it in this case as it won't tell us very much about the animal without the other part of the skull and the earbones.

Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
Do you also have a Rocks Channel?
I do, but I need to post to it more!
@MamlamboFossils awesome I thought so when I heard your voice
Just in case you don't know where it is:
youtube.com/@mamlamborocks?si=XO4Wce7RLlTcQhVj
these videos have me looking at rocks everywhere
Haha i found my first agate in river gravel that was in my backyard that we got from a nursery. Treasure is everywhere :)
a great archeologist once said "IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM"-Indie
Супер круто, и интересно
Gosh! I would never notice most of those fossils. I would just pass them by as rocks.
What does Fossilized wood go for other there?? I'd love to get a chunk of it, I have one from the fossilized wood for here in the USA from the west side of the states

Why did you not pick the big rock up?
Ooh turtle
Do you keep the jasper and sell it. New to the channel would be interested in purchasing

There's nothing like catching crabs at the beach!😋
Where is this location? I want to go.
Dolphin skull updates?
I'm working on another dolphin skull, the previous one has been prepped and is at the museum
What is that holey large stone?
Vesicular basalt?

That Jasper might slice up nice the way it looks. Why didn't you take it with you?? I thought you liked slicing them

Unless it's illegal, I would have totally taken that modern whale rib, I mean, it's a big bone, how cool is that?
It's very illegal to collect any whale parts that are not fossils in the United States, it definitely requires a permit. My friend has that permit :)
I’d love to see some polished slices of the wood, might make some pretty cabochons
💯💥
no more fossil writing characters in some area
I'd suggest geomarking the locations of the fossils you can't take and let some uni's and/or experts know.
I do that already
I reckon the rest of the whale is there
HAHAHA I thought that sea slug was some poo or something till it moved and I seen the body under the water
❤

I LOVE PETRIFIED WOOD!!!!!!! IF YOU WANTED TO POLISH IT AND SEND IT TO ME, I WOULDN'T MIND, LOL.
You do realise this fellow is having a lend of us pointing out rocks and applying his overactive imagination
