But I disagree that you would want big pixel on a planetary camera since the planets are pretty bright so you don't need big pixels (which are more sensitive) and you loose resolution, which you need for such small objects that are very small in the picture, even on a small sensor.
Really appreciate these series of video. It truly helps in making decisions regarding gears required for particular type of Astrophotography. Thank you OPT team!! Love from Mumbai 🇮🇳
Epic solar, lunar and planitary camera. One gear i have used the most and from Opt of course. 😃 Damin Peach and Simon Tangs favoirute camera and i know why. The one and only camera the is the best. 🌞
Ok, brilliant video. Thanks. I've used the 174mm successfully for solar. Now, do you have a video on using same for the planets and with a colour wheel - especially the tricky rotating Jupiter?
Great video on the capabilities of this camera. I have a slightly unrelated question: How do you calculate the effective magnification that the camera provides with a given focal length ?
@@frankguyton9596 There's a lot of options now compared to 2 years ago... I now understand monochrome cameras have some niche positives about them. I would recommend the asi583 at the same price point... odd how the Asi174 hasn't dropped in price. I think I might have been referencing Svbony options at the time or other ZWO offerings... hard to remember, lol.
Video starts at 0:50, ends at 3:45. Nagging subscription begging before and after. No contents, just highly excited enumeration of specs. Skip this one.
Too bad you guys aren't veterans of "the good old days". Astrophotography is so much easier these days, so easy that people can only whine about "starlink messed up my pictures".
These videos are of such value to the community. Keep smashing it guys!

so if I go with the standard model will I still need the filters? also what would be the standard model number you mentioned?
Hi - do I need filters with the ASI174 when using it with my DayStar Solar Scout SS60-DS 60mm H-alpha Solar Telescope. I'm new to all this.
Ok, brilliant video. Thanks.

You guys should make a complete tutorial on the camera like 1) how to set up 2) how to install/use software ETC you know in-depth review just asking
Already a SUBSCRIBER! Can you do a video on setup and backfocus!
Nice video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Effective focal length is important than eff mag. Check out Astronomy tools for calculation.
Do you guys also sell a physical like button for Win10? I think it will feel good, really smashing it!
Maybe buy apple??
Hahaha.... "I haven't slept in three days"... :P
I have both these cameras also smashed both buttons. 👍🤣
There are cheaper higher quality color options for planetary imaging.
What would that be?

Looks like nothing can replace astrovid I have
