I can't watch this one because I'm waiting for Romulus to come streaming so I can throw an Alien watchparty lol, but I'll plan on watching this afterwards! I'm hoping you have some horror movie reviews planned for October? I found your channel from the video you made on Satan's Little Helper a while back and i'd definitely be interested in seeing something like that again 😊
Thank you for watching, and commenting. Oh yeah. October is all about horror movies. We don't have a theme yet, but we are working on it. October's gonna be a 31 day horror movie marathon over here. So don't forget to subscribe.
The beauty of Alien was until the scene where Lambert is killed by the Alien we really don't know his size or what he actually looks like. All we get are close ups and quick shots of Xenomorph. Just rewatched Alien for the hundredth time or so to get the bad taste of Romulus out and the differences are too numerous to mention. From the dialog and actors to just the pacing it's comparing a filet mignon to a Big Mac when looking at Alien and Romulus. The score is incredible and the sound design on Alien is what imo truly makes it scary. I'm done with the Alien franchise as I am with Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who and LOTR. Alien hasn't gone woke like the rest but the Mary Sue sprite in the lead of Romulus is a little girl compared to Ripley although they are only a couple years apart in actual age when both movies were made. One is an adult female and the other still resembles a child. Giving up on Alien in the future kinda hurts. I saw the original in 1979 with my Mom when I was 12 and it scared us to death. The chestburster scene was too intense for me really. I even remember be scared by the trailer which was just an egg cracking open with it lit up from behind and the iconic Alien sound. I have liked most of the Alien movies and could deal with their many shortcomings but by and large they were actual movies. Romulus never felt like a movie but a soulless corporate collection of the greatest hits and dialog from all the other Alien movies. The real question is what will they be able to steal from this movie for the future soulless creations. What's really depressing is how much money this is making and the future movies that will come from it. The only movie I will rate below this is AVP Requiem which was just dogshit.
Yeah I'm with ya brother. My first Alien experience was a bootleg recording of Alien 3 that my dad recorded of the TV around 1997. I was seven or eight years old, way too young to watch stuff like that, but the Alien fascinated me. Soon after that, I got the original Alien on VHS, and it has been one of my favorite movies ever since. The Alien franchise has been dead since 1993 in my opinion, even if I do kind of like Alien resurrection. Everything after that has been more or less garbage, but Alien Romulus stung even worse because it really felt like this was gonna be a return to form. Instead, it was one of the worst movies of the year. Thank you for watching and commenting.
