That's how you do it in the country. Reclaimed, rustic, super strong and in keeping with the environment. In a year it will look like it was always part of the landscape. Character! Love it.
If you have a small tin of used motor oil handy and dip each nail in it they will just glide into the holes mate. The oil helps protect the gal surface of the nail too (as it lessens the friction as it goes into the wood). The oil then soaks into the timber and leaves the nail snug in the hole.
That's some great work Scott. Kinda cool how you managed to salvage something usable from otherwise trash wood. That Black and Decker saw is pretty cool!
It never ceases to amaze me how well those gang nails grip. The property I had out at Somerset Dam got some huge rock gardens built out of the hundreds of huge rocks that had all been pushed onto the block, it took quite a while to move them all with my Dingo, I think some of them must have weighed in at least a tonne and the Dingo only had a lift capacity of 250kg, so I had to push them around instead. You'll get there, it all takes time. 👍
always a pleasoure to watch your vids Scott no matter what you are doing , i for 1 have lernt some things from you over the years i been following you top job mate .
Scott, from an old grano worker of some 35 years a ten+ on the patio floor, and that bridge over the ravine looks like you drive a tank over it,love your work,ATB from Perth 🔨🔨🔨🔨
I was holding my breath a bit when you were out checking the woodpile. Looked like a good snake hangout. lol Bridge looked good with the gravel and rocks along the edges. It is going to look amazing once you get some planting done.
Great work as always... I feel your pain with trying to start that petrol engine. I can't count the number of times I been praying to the gods to "just *****ing start!.." 🤣. I'm actually visiting Oz this Friday (Avalon Beach, Sydney)... looking forward to a bit of sunshine and hanging out with my grandchildren 🙂
Another great video Scott. Always a pleasure to see you working. Also, great to see the site foreman (Pippa) checking on your work. Think she approves.
Hey Scott. I really love the way these videos are edited. I always enjoy the content and I’m unbelievably jealous of what you’re both doing. Keep it up.
Scott you’re a very patient man, if that was me with the post hole digger it would have been turned into an airplane and would have crash landed in the lush grass behind you with several expletive phrases following it. 😂 😂 Your place is coming together really nice keep up the good work. Can I also give you a tip that was given to me by my father get some coarse sandpaper or even the concrete floor and give your hammer face a good roughing up it will stop the hammer sliding on the nail heads and you wont bend as many nails. Its an old builders trick. Looking forward to your next video
Nice addition to the cottage Scott. I like the bridge, great that you can use a lot of your own timber. I laughed at your use of the auger. Mine was exactly the same and had the same issue. We are on clay here so hasn’t been the most successful operation, pretty hard on the arms as well as other parts apparently !.
The only people who think we can go straight into a job with no maintenance at the start are our wives “What have you been doing I thought you would be finished by now “ As much as I love my missus she doesn’t even have to say anything,I know the look Then if you try to explain ,they have a worse scenario 🤨 Love the show whatever you are doing it helps me get motivated Cheers from down South
A little concrete edging tip, while its still quite wet run the edger around. This will push the gravel in and sand out, so when its ready to edge you wont catch on the gravel and take gouges out of the edge.
Finally, I’m on par with you, oh don’t get me wrong, you’re ability is light years ahead of this two thumbed fumbler, no I’m referencing the Festool track yep, mine are nearly always too short too! Fun video, till next time take care.
What I would like to know is where you get all your energy to keep going. I tell my wife if we ever move and start over, at 58, I am not sure I can do it all again.
Love the results you got with just a stick of framing timber. Can I ask the reason of NO STEEL or reo? The dry creek bed looks great. Pippa’s a rippa, yet I’m biased as we have 2 x BC’s. You got a good one with her what a lovely heart she has.💕 Have you ever used ORGANOIL or LANOTEC timber oils? Our council here on the Sunny coast put me onto Lanotec which is a lanolin based natural oil that lets yr wood silver off nicely and maintains a healthy range of moisture to keep the wood malleable. ORGANOIL is a gorgeous smelling natural oil for outdoor timber .
G'day Scott. Once again into the never ending list of projects that are slowly getting whittled away. When I saw you smackin' that log with the Tommy Axe, I'm waiting for a big worm to come out from inside the log. That little Auger is a beauty as long as they go that is Have you seen the blokes over the other side of the puddle somewhere, they route an X into the split and then make a key to fir and glue them in. It seems to stop the split travelling through the log. Looks good too. Well you've done it again young fella. Well done.

Funny you should say that- I use Vaseline. Your option might be cheaper!
Must feel good--over the hump with major construction, moving on to (endless) details that make a house a home. Great seeing it come together, Scott!

It seems you have made a lot of progress in your field Scott, it looks more and more beautiful, congratulations!
It's good to see you again, mate. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍

And for me, that's great to hear. Thanks TLL!
I'm so pleased to see the new addition. Pippa is gorgeous. I think a Border Collie will be in my future.
Another great video mate, love watching your handyman skills….
Paradise takes time and repairs to equipment. Onya Scott.
As we say on the farm Scotty, near enough is perfect! 😉👍
Happy bark day Pipper 🐾 I can’t believe she’s 12 months old already 😮

You've set me to thinking on how I might build a rough timber bridge over my farm dam spillway. Loved the video almost as much as the dog. 😂
As always, very nice scott

Really enjoyed it Scott. Gotta keep those nuts protected eh.

Good plan to build a bridge, as we get older jumping across the streams don’t appeal, as much. Looks great.

Bridge turned out so good!
Nice job Scott, it all takes time mate, just bit by bit and it'll all come together. Seeya Rob
Thanks Rob, it's about chipping away bits by bit.
Super tare bravooo 👏👏👏👍
Nice additions Scott.
Thankyou for another great content filled 😂😂😂

Similar with customers, "Are you charging me for labor while you struggle with your equipment?" Yes. Yes I am. All part of the job.
I miss your industrial furniture build
Me too, I'll have to make some more
@ScottTurnerformeindustrious Please do

more videos please mate, cheers from NZ
Thank you! Working on the next now.
Hardwood sap residue on the face of the hammer. Try a little sandpaper or rub on concrete. Helps me and I need all the help I can get.
Good job
Thanks Sid!

I applaud you efforts with the hand saw but I think I would have attacked those rebates with the chainsaw.
Nice work, Scott. I like the bridge, I'm guessing it's leading to the new chicken coup / run? When does that episode come out? ;-)
Hi Scott, do you think you broom your concrete gives groove's it better grip with shoes boots any type of footwear😀🇦🇺👍
The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time…with a little sirracha.
Scott, may I ask why you just pour concrete without re-bar (reinforce) it?
Is the chainsaw mill running a skip-tooth chain?
7:23 didn't you have a longer bar for that saw? 🤣
Me and Rip Cords, apologies to anyone in earshot.
I had the biggest blister from trying to start that thing. It was about 30 seconds away from the match.
try dipping nails in liquid soap
