IDK why any knowledgeable FSU fan would want to be treated like chopped liver in the SEC. The B1G is national, respected, makes more money, and the fans want us. The SEC is regional, full of backwater towns, snobby, and filled with disdain for FSU because a) we beat them all the time and b) we turned them down in the 1990s. LSU fans treated me worse than UF fans the past couple years. That says a lot.
The ONLY positive for the SEC is travel costs for the school. That's it. Even then, I'd rather travel to Madison, WI, and deal with the ESFY chant than go to Starkville, MS. I'd rather go to Seattle than Tuscaloosa. Tennessee is a great state if you love bad roads and the high probability of blowing a tire. Michigan probably has some infrastructure problems, too, but at least you don't have to worry about getting stranded in the mountains.

I'm not a FSU fan but I think Big 10 is actually smarter for them. Helps them stand out from the rest of the crowd (SEC) in that area. Makes Big 10 a national type conference which raises FSU already prestigious brand. Go to SEC and be a power and Florida main rival every year ok cool that is a good setup. But Big 10 is even more money and you still rivals vs Florida but Florida is a "southeast" team while FSU is a "national team". I just think joining the Big 10 would really help Florida State brand go to another level. I don't feel the same way about other ACC schools. I think SEC or Big 10 would be good for UNC or Clemson but I dont think Big 10 offers any advantage so maybe the "culture fit" with SEC makes them lean SEC. With FSU it seems like Big 10 could elevate them even more. I would say SEC is probably better fit for Miami as it would offer football credibility for them that they are lacking (FSU is not). Being "private city school" would actually make them stand out in the SEC. The problem is I dont think the SEC really wants or cares about Miami so they might end up with FSU in the Big 10. Just my two cents as a Notre Dame fan watching all this realignment.

FSU is drinking the Kool-aid if they think B1G / Fox is super motivated to get in a fight w ESPN (or SEC) to add FSU.
If ESPN wants [to keep] FSU - and clearly they're in the negotiating drivers seat - then they'll muscle Sankey / SEC to add em.
Of course, ESPN might just feel good riddance, move along ... in which case the door is open to Fox / B1G

Big ten fans will not except for the ones that are rich AND can afford airfare and $500 night hotel rooms.
In spite of what the SEC and Greg think he has done to college football over the last few years the right business decision is to join the SEC. It's where we have belonged for 77 years now.
Of course that's all contingent on who gives us the invite. I'm pretty sure we would go ahead and jump into the Big ten if they give us an invite. Particularly if we don't get one from the SEC. Back in the 90s when FSU joined the ACC they had been asking to join the SEC for a long time. The SEC would never extend an invitation. When the ACC extended the invitation so did the SEC. Thus FSU was already presented the choice SEC or ACC. And they chose ACC. After all the snubs, and now after all the recent BS, why on earth would FSU chose to go to SEC when the B1G is better and FSU can get paid as much if not more.
Edit - being and FSU alumni Association in Tallahassee after graduation, I don’t know of any FSU fans that are remotely interested in the SEC.

Your opinion and 7.50 The decades of firing coaches . Losing to Auburn every year. Enjoy your history, that's all you got now. Hope for FSU to be a Big 10 team right in the middle of SEC territory. To everyone who says FSU Signed the GOR, so they have to deal with it. Yes, FSU signed it, but they did so under duress. The ACC told FSU to re-sign the GOR about 10 years ago, I believe?, and said if they didn’t sign it FSU would have to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to exit the conference. That’s like holding a gun to someone’s head and telling them to sign it, or else! The contract also states the ACC would do everything in its power to do what’s in FSU’s best interest. Clearly, they didn’t uphold their end of the contract.

I'm not sure why you want the SEC. Did you not interact with the fans? LSU fans were some of the worst and most conceited I've come across. They were just straight-up disrespectful. It's the same with Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, etc. Considering the B1G having more money, the snobbery of most SEC fans about FSU, and chaining ourselves to ESPN who actively worked on discrediting us and keeping us out of the CFI, I really can't stomach FSU joining that conference unless there's nowhere else to go.
Tangent: Your last name is kind of explicit in Spanish.

    • @plantthespear
      @plantthespear 6 місяців тому +2

I think the argument for the SEC is because of how close they are for away games (and fans travelling to Tallahassee, too), the big game environments, and the fact that FSU would now get the same preferential treatment that the SEC gets.
I'm not a fan of SEC fans either. Trust me, I'm related to a bunch of them 😂 but I've seen some videos of pretty disrespectful fans in the B1G as well.
Traveling to B1G games just isn't doable for everyone. Also, while I understand not wanting any dealings with ESPN, they solely own the rights to the playoffs now, so that's impossible to a degree. Other than not making the playoffs, which we don't want lol
Personally, and we're all entitled to our own opinion, I'd rather see FSU play teams like LSU, Auburn, and Georgia than Purdue, Illinois, and Minnesota but I like the B1G with teams like USC, Oregon, and Washington now. I'm perfectly fine with the B1G and think that's where we end up when all of this is said and done.
Also, I've never heard that about my name. I'm going to have to look it up now. 🤔

@@plantthespear I'll agree to disagree. I've been hearing way more sour grapes from the SEC than the B1G. I've definitely had some run-ins with mostly Ohio State fans, but that's about it. The SEC fans love to perpetuate the myth that FSU turned down the SEC because "it was too hard." The truth is FSU tried to join the SEC since the 1960s if not the 1950s and when word got out that FSU was very likely going to the ACC in the early 1990s, the SEC took their ball and went home without a formal offer (for any SEC fans reading this).
I was actually of the same opinion before 2023: FSU to the SEC made too much sense. But with the money and the abhorrent treatment FSU got this past year, it's the B1G or bust for me. Purdue, Illinois, and Minnesota are more akin to Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas. Auburn, UGA, and LSU would be more like Michigan State, Michigan, and Penn State, IMO. Seeing FSU play Nebraska in the regular season would be so, so, so cool.
I never go to the away games anyway as dealing with all the travel and stadium logistics is always much more difficult than watching at home in HD for a tiny fraction of the cost. If I want to see a game in person, Doak is less than 30 minutes away (not including gameday traffic). If I were to travel, I wouldn't want to travel to any of the SEC towns except Austin. Even the ACC has better destinations for visiting FSU fans.

    • @encycl07pedia-

@@plantthespear Agree to disagree. Before 2023, I would agree with you: FSU to the SEC made way too much sense. After the abhorrent treatment and mouthy SEC fans, just no. Also I wouldn't compare those 3 A/B-tier SEC schools with C-tier B1G schools.
I don't travel to away games anyway. If I did, the only SEC place I'd want to visit is Austin. But I'd love to go to multiple B1G places, even Minnesota (Minneapolis) and Nebraska (home of some of the greatest fans in CFB). TV and AC are just too OP for me to seriously consider traveling to multiple away games every year.

@@encycl07pedia- "I've been hearing way more sour grapes from the SEC than the B1G."
      Can you expand on this?
From my following this story from the TX/OK news, there has been a clear evolution of the FSU perspective on preferred destination. It started heavily in favor of the SEC, only shifting to the B1G ~1 year ago. That was before last season and the playoff snub. I suspect that FSU and its fans then started to realize that the SEC had low interest relative to other options and then started to "sour grape" the SEC.
FSU's scorched earth tactics likely made it even less attractive to the SEC and B1G; however, the later still desperately needs to expand south, so the "sour grapes" amplify.
