Wonderful selection of pieces put together with great care, great sound, lighting and background. I stopped dead on my tracks on the third Gnossienne that I played years ago with a French teacher. I am now going back to the piano to rework it and see how much comes backs. It has been such a long time. My teacher at the time told me what a funny little man Erik Satie was, eccentric and witty. At the time, I started reading a great deal, not just about Satie, but about the people he hung around with. Apparently there was a bar called “Le Boeuf sur le toit”, in Paris where these artist met, Milhaud, Poulenc, George Auric, Arthur Honegger and Germaine Taileferre. The name remained for a long time but it became a tourist joint. Lili
I’m delighted you enjoyed them. I have very much enjoyed learning how to record and create the visuals. Satie was indeed a curious figure. He has a surprisingly wide array of compositions - some almost mainstream (his waltz ‘je te veux’ for example) and others way out there :-) Have you tried the other Gnossiennes too? One day, I might try to record them all.
Thanks - I very much enjoyed learning them (especially some of the lesser known ones). You can find the scores to all on IMSLP if you want to give any a try :-)
Beautifully played Tommy ! And a truly top notch video with professional editing, sound, lighting, multi- camera use and rotating art work ( how do you do that ? ) in the background which really adds to the overall experience. Happy New Year ! All my best !
Thanks. I’m pleased you enjoyed. It’s amazing what editing is possible to us these days and it’s much less difficult than you might think. I do it mostly on my iPad using LumaFusion and Affinity Photo. In my Recording Piano playlist, there are videos showing how I do all of these things if you’d like to give any of them a try.
Love you to watch .

Great selection. I shall have to listen again to decide what might be possible to learn. The last one is gorgeous.
I’m delighted you enjoyed. I too adore the last one. It’s very much like a nocturne I think
