Stan is a great singer. His family has a history of stomach cancer and he’s been through hell trying to overcome his battle with it and all the after effects. He was concerned he may not be able to sing because if the impact on his lungs and diaphragm. Thankfully he has been able to continue. He’s a proud New Zealander Māori.
Stan had his entire stomach removed where 13 tumours were discovered- but says the complications afterwards were far worse than the surgery. He’s since had 26 surgeries, a collapsed lung, bladder infection, heart infection, gall bladder infection, he’s a walking miracle. How anyone can sing like that without a stomach is astounding given the role of the diaphragm to produce strong vocal acoustics yet he recorded I Am only months after surgery. Since then he’s managed to convince his mother (a breast cancer survivor) and uncle to both have their stomachs removed as they too carried the rare gene which put them at very high risk of developing stomach cancer. His documentary on UA-cam is an emotional watch but very inspirational.
Hi, I just wanted to clear some info up, because I believe his song “I Am” released end of last year for the movie “Origin”? Stan had his first operation for his cancer removal in September 2017. He had the following complications with a collapsed lung, chest infection, gall bladder, and so on, in the following months of his recovery.
@@Maramae37 I can assure you as a doctor familiar with those in Melbourne who worked with Stan that there is nothing inaccurate in my comment and most Aussie UA-camrs are aware of my reputation in this regard. All the best.
@@Dr_KAP I was simply asking in regards to the dates of which you said his first surgery was in relation to him releasing “I Am.” Stan himself said his procedure was done in 2017, and “I Am” was released in 2023 when Ava saw his Ultralight Beam cover and asked him to write “I Am” for her movie Origin, so the time frames don’t seem to add up is all, especially going off of Stan’s documentary 👍🏻. I wasn’t claiming the medical information you provided was wrong.
This was when Stan was going through his cancer journey (stomach cancer). I watched the documentary and it was eye opening and him & his families faith in God was awesome
