Just FYI, I’ve been racing for years and have three YFZ’s. You DO NOT have to change the crush washers on the drain bolts and change the O-rings every oil change. I’ve never changed the O-rings for for the oil filter and I change my oil religiously. The crush washers do get old and pinched thin but they should last at least 10-15 oil changes before changing them. I also hand tighten all the bolts with just my hand and all you need to make sure is that their snug and tight ( not too tight you can strip the cases). This is just my personal experience and opinion and I’m not trying to take the shine away from your video, but just putting it out there to save time and money👍🏼
I was told once you use a Crush Washer it is no longer any good. And I was told you should change the O-rings on every oil change to guarantee a good seal you're taking chances if you don't same thing with the crush washers. And when I tighten the drain bolts that's why I don't take chances and I looked up the torque specifications to make sure that is guaranteed not to strip out so it's not too tight or it's not too loose. I know I appreciate your comment:-) I'm just trying to be better safe than sorry.
I just got a 2004 yfz450 and wanna do an oil change on it, so I went and picked up some motul 10w-40. But earlier today I took my seat off and it said to use 20w-40 or 10w-30. Am I able to put on my 10w40 or will it cause issues?
@@kylekaspar6338 10-40w is fine that’s what I run just a different oil company. 20w-40 is a thicker oil which is what people usually run in a hotter state/climate since the motor would get hotter. 10w-30 is a thinner oil which is what you’d run if it’s a colder state/climate since the oil needs to heat up more to flow better throughout the engine.
Excellent video sir! I’m trying to understand why the engine needs to be started and idle for a couple of minutes. My reasoning behind not running the engine, is all the oil has most likely drained overnight into the pan. When the engine has been run recently, some of the oil is still up inside instead of the pan. I am aware the manual says to idle for a couple of minutes. But it doesn’t seem right. I’ve never had any flow issues with cold oil. Can anyone explain the logic please? Thank you in advance.
Do you Recommend go to the dealership for the first service? They told me that they need to check the valves because is a racing machine and it’s required a lot of maintenance etc. but they wanna charge me a lot of money. It’s my first Four wheeler And I would to learn everything.
This is the 3rd one that I purchased off the show room floor bonflour the 1st couple of YFZ450 r's I put over 90 hours on never took it to a mechanic change the oil every 10 hours
