Best 24 minutes spent to try to understand draw on Sketch up!! I have spent hours before trying to figure out but I haven’t been successful! I will definitely do my pantry drawing next! Thank you!
This is a great tutorial! Btw, when you're moving objects, if you select an edge or corner instead of the face of the object, it will automatically snap to the edge of another object, making precise movements much easier. Happy designing!
i've watched several other men trying to explain sketchup and their overall design plans, but this video provided the most value to me by far. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
That was absolutely the best sketch up tutorial I have ever seen, and I have watched several. I think it was the slower pace. Gave me time to digest each step. Love the part at the end about trips to the hardware store. I actually plan on three trips on any new project and time line twice as long.
So glad I found your channel! I tried to use sketch up last week to design our kitchen island and immediately gave up 😩 So excited to see what else I discover on your channel, so far I’ve only seen your closet makeover and I’m SO inspired already!!!
Thanks so much, you are so awesome your husband is so blessed to have you and I wish you lived in my area so you could help me with projects I love doing home projects to improve my home and to make my home look good it makes me feel good to look around and see the things that I have done and my husband loves the things that I do and always tells me that he is proud of me
You made it seem so easy. Now I can't wait to see you do the actual pantry. Great tutorial. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe. Make sure your husband knows how much we appreciate his leniency.
I appreciate this video to help me navigate Sketch up. Clear concise and simple. All too often we have an idea on paper and little knowledge to make it come to life. Thank you for such a simple flow tutorial
I'm impressed! I've been wanting to learn Sketchup for a long time, so this and the other long video is AWSOME! I only have two engineering degrees, yet I got frustrated trying to learn this tool, but you made it super easy! Thank you!
Thank you! Wow! Every video I have watched on how to use sketchup left me more confused than when I started. You made this as easy as ABC, 123. Thank you for uncomplicating this for me. You are a life saver! God bless you! You have a new subscriber!
This video came just in time! I literally just downloaded sketchup and have been watching tutorials so when I got the notification for your video I was so happy 😊. You explain things so clearly. Please make more sketchup videos!
Great video! I learned a lot with this and how good you are explaining things! Great work, please keep sharing this kind of videos, it means the world for us the DIY community!
I enjoyed watching this video. You are at home in front of the camera and you have a knack for explaining things in a simple and clear manner. Thanks for this video. I have a much better understanding of Sketch Up now. Stay safe.
Stefani, thank you for this video. I have seen videos from one other channel where she uses Sketchup to create downloadable plans, but I didn't know how to use the app. Also, great tips and suggestions for dealing with the reality of doing these projects yourself. I can't wait to see how your pantry turns out.
Thank you for walking us through your thought process and doing this tutorial. I really appreciate your gentle and encouraging voice because it makes me feel confident that I can do this too.
Nice video. I was struggling to use the web version the other day but after watching your tutorial, I have a better understanding of the new interface. I have the old free sketchup version on my Mac that was downloaded but when I went to get it for my Windows laptop, only the web version was available. The two version have similarities but interfaces are very different. Thank you for helping me. Planning some changes in my wife’s kitchen. Finally, got her blessing...
Another great video Stefani! Really appreciate the dialog you included explaining your thought process and reasoning. I haven't used Sketchup for a long time but now I think I will dive back in for my next project. Thank you for posting.
Thanks for this tutorial. I learned a good bit. I've used sketch up for a sideboard that modified from someone's plans, but I wasn't able to get this detailed. Now i can on my next project!
You are amazing so intelligent I enjoyed watching you I just found your channel and I have watched almost all of your videos I will finish them all thank you so sweet so beautiful amazing
Oh em gooodnessss! I was JUST thinking how I wish you would share how you do your designs in sketch up! 😳 I’m starting construction on our forever home and I have a big ole pantry and a massive master closet to design and prepare for 😍 thank you SO much for this. #priceless
This is amazing tutorial!! Thank you so much for all you do to inspire others. Do you happen to have similar video for your walk in closet makeover? I really love that design. I want to make same with a additional challenge to make my own dressers.
This was such an easy to understand tutorial! I’m trying to use sketchup to design my own closet reno, but would it be possible for you to do a quick tutorial on how you did your bedroom closet design? I am STRUGGLING lol
Great guide. Just started playing with skup last wk. Save ur project when u start. That was a lot of work and u would hate to lose it if u lose internet connection 😬.
17:15 A cool trick I learned to move and align objects easily is to click on the corner of the first element with the move tool and then, right after, click on the corner of the second object you want to align with. So in this case, you would select the move tool, left-click on a front corner of the cabinet and then left-click on the same front corner of that base element. Both elements will be aligned and flushed! It also works if you need a second wall to be the same height as a previous wall, instead of typing the number, you can use the Push/Pull tool and click on the top edge of the first wall. Sorry for the long text!
Nice video ! I learned some helpful things I didn't know about SketchUp today 😁 Small tip: when you want to move a component more precisly like exactly in the corner of the room, with the moving option, just take your piece by the corner you want to align, go directly to the corner of the room ans drop your component in place . It will set perfectly 👌
Nice job! I’m three shelves in thinking I don’t want to do all the sketch up stuff but you made it look so simple. Reason behind my frustration is walls are 90°! I’m doing mainly referential cuts, but is there a way in sketchup to set the walls to larger than 90?
I want to thank you for having a show that actually teaches you. Your tips and information are helpful and educational keep the videos and projects coming. These cable shows are nothing but a joke and have nothing to do with DIY projects.
Been awhile since I've used SketchUp. once your know it enough to use it....it really makes projects come out better, imo. Thanks for the refresher course. Also, I'm guessing your measurements were off due to the thickness of the walls you used in our sketchUp?? The length of the first wall created was reduced (on both sides) by the thickness of the second two walls you added....which in reality would give you a different length of your countertop/shelves in real life than your sketchUp drawing showed?
Love the tutorial, thanks for the information. Just wondering, why not just make a base cabinet to the specific dimensions you need? You wouldn't have any wasted space and the cabinets would be plywood instead of the cheap MDF or whatever else manufacturers use. Tfs!
In this video u mention that you said "I already took the measurements of the panty and going to put exact measurements in sketchup". How did u do that as when u said that ur screen jumped to a diff perspective, at 5:57 mark
One question: Why leave the cabinets spaced from the wall instead of just making the 2x4 base smaller? Thanks for this -- enjoy the channel and had no idea how to use SketchUp, so this is perfect!
While I can appreciate this thorough tutorial, sketchup has changed its application. Trying to follow this tutorial using the new app has been the biggest headache! If you have it in you, please do an updated tutorial.
Another SketchUp tip: I believe (as this is not the same I use) if you press the mouse wheel you will get into orbit mode, so, no need to go to the left panel all the time to change tools
Doesn't placing a wall on top of one you measured out make the wall surface space smaller by 4", or 8"? Because it's not the back of the wall you measured it is the inside visible surface of the wall you took a measurement of. When you then use the inside of the wall as your access you lose the width of the wall you placed on top of it.
And yet another Tip: you created the shelves and copied twice, while also having to measure the separation between each. That could be done with that is called an array. SketchUp has nice tutorials on how to use that, but basically, you should be able to copy, paste, and type in the number of copies, the distance between them, and the direction where to place them. Which would make creating those shelves (and more complex stuff in which you might struggle in the future) way faster. Here's an old tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/I7jE2XpCnkg/v-deo.html
you can use the move tool and select a corner or middle point, that will allow you to click then into another surface, line or corner to set things properly aligned. I see you struggle a lot with that.
Never watched a simpler and more clear sketchup tutorial before. Thank you so much this was really helpful you're amazing!
Best 24 minutes spent to try to understand draw on Sketch up!! I have spent hours before trying to figure out but I haven’t been successful! I will definitely do my pantry drawing next! Thank you!
You made sketchup easy. The others make it look so difficult. Thank you so much for sharing this. Would love to see more.

Awesome. Going to tackle a large project soon and this helps
I tried to use SkeetUp but didn't really figure out how it works. This video will definitely help me to move forward. Thanks a lot!
Thank you--this was a very clear tutorial for a sketchup beginner like me!

Another fantastic video. Thanks so much.
You do an excellent job Mam! Love your content on diy.
Definitely demystified that program! Just curious if it will spit out the measurements of the pieces you created - kind of like a materials list?
Thank you for sharing my wife and I love you channel
Impressive! Very well arranged, even this old man can follow! How did you make the shelves? How did you support them? Thanks for the education!

Thanks now I understand how to use the scale function, never could get the hang of it, but now I do thanks again
Gracias por tus explicaciones. Un abrazo desde Canarias-España
This is absolutely amazing and I will be doing this to my pantry! My only question is why did you choose upper kitchen cabinets, why not lowers?
Thanks much; was most helpful. Good job.
Thanks for the sketch update ☺️☺️

forgot to ask but does sketchup export cut sizes needed? i.e 5 x 25 1/2 wood pieces etc

how do u know the thickness of the walls? (4.5inches) how did u get that number?

I had the same thought. My guess is that she wanted the countertop a certain depth and by making the base smaller, she would lose some of the depth
Thank you for watching! I wanted to make the bottom countertop deeper so I had to improvise a bit!
@@HomeWithStefani Makes perfect sense, thank you and thanks again for the great tutorial!

right??! women's always so so smart!
Yea but what if you have a vaulted ceiling with 7' high on the left & 9' high on the right? How do you draw that?
Is SketchUp for work on iPad or only pc and labtop.?
Great advice, 😁
