    Honestly there is no reason for this to be so complicated. Many older people (and others) will be super confused by lots of this, and needing phone reception is crazy.
    They should just be plug and charge and have it automatically billed to a credit/debit card connected to your car. It would be trivial to implement assuming some car manufacturers were willing to come together on a standard for it, in fact looking at the CCS2 communication protocol there is a provision for secure encrypted confidential data, and this could be used to send payment details to the charger for billing.

    You have to feel for elderly folk unfamiliar with brand new tech trying to work all this out. Quite a process tbh.

      Definitely why it's much easier and quicker to have an RFID card
      (And even easier once the Australian providers roll out Plug and Charge, like Tesla)

      And that was a smooth working one. Quite often you have to repeat the procedure or even reset the charger. However these RTMsvseems way better than the old Veefils.

    What you didnt mention is to read the descriptions in plugshare which gives very useful info of how to find the actual charger at the location esp useful when its a shopping centre

    Interesting because if I was in my Polestar 2 I would push the button to add the ev charger and it would show if it was available or not and route me there. It also lets me know if it becomes full and shows other options I don't know if the new Telsa chargers are in there yet (Pretty sure they are not) but in the future I don't see why the Tesla chargers that are available now should not show up as well.

    • @LudicrousFeed

  • @andrewcongdon

    You can navigate to chargers using plugshare and Android Auto, no need for native navigation. Sadly doesn't work with Evie app or Chargefox yet as they don't support AA. These videos are useful for me, thanks.

      Yup I’ll try sending my location to the Tesla app for my next how to find a charging station video 😃

    • @andrewcongdon
      @andrewcongdon Рік тому

      I was thinking more of your (that is yours?) Ato 3 or other platforms which use or support AA like Polestar. I assume this makes it easier to find the stalls in the carpark as I was just struggling to do with chargefox app and phone.

    • @andrewcongdon
      @andrewcongdon Рік тому

      Just tried it and PlugShare in AA will show you "Chargers are down the ramp and turn ..." on the car screen without using your phone. Unfortunately I can't find how to get the rest of the directions. Sounds like a Ludicrous video! Meanwhile back to fumbling with the phone in the carpark. PlugShare does program the native AA nav like Tesla.

    I noticed you didn't pre-condition your car's battery on the way. Is that only necessary when you're using a super-charger? Also, can you manually turn on the conditioning process via the car's touch screen? Or is it purely triggered by navigating to a super-charger using the map?

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  Рік тому +3

      Hmm good point I do recall an update last year allowing pre-conditioning for third party DC chargers. I’ll have to investigate for the next video
