Kit was my first and only AG doll. I absolutely love her. I got her for Christmas 2000 or 2001 and she has held up so well. I think the short hair as a kid helped keep her in good shape as it's easier to maintain.
Definitely! Kit is a great choice for younger kids for that reason. No long hair or bangs that are tempting to cut 😆

Beforever should’ve been a limited edition release IMO. I’m pretty sure they’re trying reverse all the changes slowly. I imagine Samantha will get her original outfit before too long!
the whole reasoning for the beforever rebranding is so stupid. they changed their meet outfits JUST because they “wanted to cater to the modern generation of kids” like, really? that’s weird. however, i do like some of the items that was released under the beforever rebrand. but the rebrand was totally unnecessary

Plus, got my PC Kit late last year for a song and then dressed her in her Christmas outfit that I also got for a great deal! 🥰
That’s so awesome! I randomly have kits beforever Christmas outfit so I think that’s the one I’ll use for her since I love plaid so much!

I love Kit, she brings back so many good childhood memories for me because that was my best friends favorite doll. We use to go on outings together and I would bring my Rebecca and she would bring her Kit. Much simpler times. We both got really into AG because of the Kit movie so I highly recommend watching it. This whole video just gives me warm feelings and hits me with major nostalgia lol. Can’t wait to see your review of Josefina. I have her and she’s one of my most favorites!

I'm glad to notice that you also collect dolls. I am a woman with ASD who has collected American Girl dolls since 2007 - the first doll I got was a JLY 19, and Kit was my second AG doll. My dad got me Kit for Christmas in 2008. He won the doll and her accessories and Christmas dress as a door prize for his company he worked for...and even kept declining offers to sold the doll to those who wanted to buy the doll off of him. Still have Kit at my parents' house - my recent AG doll is a TrulyMe #119 which I named Reina.
The original kit is SOOO MUCH CUTER 😭😭however I am happy they brought make her original meet It’s such a classic and so mesmerizing

I have never been a Kit fan but lately she's been growing on me. I honestly want to buy the birthday collection because of the box and book. I would sell the doll because I want to get one with the chubby version of the classic face mold. Lol. I love that you plan on buying all of the historical characters!
I like having the first editions because it feels more “museum-like” to me. I guess that’s kinda weird but I really only display everything. Kit definitely had to grow on me since she has one of my least favorite hairstyles and I prefer brunette hair on dolls. Her outfit really helped sell me on her!

another way to tell early kits with the freckles pattern, is the little 3 under her one eye, they’re so much more spread out than the later kits

Kit’s movie is SO much fun, it really is legit a good movie! Highly recommend. Your new Kit is so cute, I don’t see many early Kits that look this good! She’s the first doll they released after I “aged out” of AG (I was 14, Josefina was my last doll which I got for Christmas the year she came out when I was 11.) So I missed everything about Kit the first time around and only read her books and watched her movie last year after getting back into collecting. I have Ruthie and some of her outfits and Kit’s, but no Kit doll, which I thought I was fine with, but this birthday celebration release got me. My fresh new Kit is on the way to me now. I’m excited to see how she looks in person.

You got such a cute Kit! I keep going back and forth on if I want to go all in on Kit or not, and this definitely isn't making it any easier for me to try and keep myself from her! I'm gonna have really limited space for at least the next year and a half but once I can get into a permanent house I have a feeling I'm gonna end up doubling my current collection ^^; And I refer to my whole collection as The Dollhouse too! I want to make a little sign that just says "Welcome to The Dollhouse" and when I can finally get my own house, it'll go right inside my front door.
Aw that would be so cute! I think definitely wait to get more of Kits collection if you’re buying second hand. Prices will be higher right now but they will come down. I think at best I might get her meet accessories unless I find a great deal on an outfit I like 😁

I haven’t checked my Kit for a while, but she should have the machine printed Pleasant Company stamp as that handwritten stamp was done away with by 1996! Anyway, your new old Kit is beautiful. She was my second doll, and mine is from August 2000. I have such a soft spot for the early girls. The newest release is not the same.
When they brought back molly and Maryellen and Courtney got Halloween costumes I was sad they didn’t my re release molly hula outfit

Happy to support your shop, Jonny! I just bought two more outfits for my daughter’s Kirsten last night. I plan to save those and give them to her at Christmas. I keep checking your shop to see if you’ve added more merch. This may become a problem 😆 The Kit movie is amazing, doesn’t feel like a cheesy kids movie at all. Joan Cusack is great in it. Lots of good acting overall. You’d think they’d make more high quality AG movies given the popularity of the brand.
Congrats, been watching your content (also getting into collecting). Grew up with Pleasant Company/American Girl dolls. I had Samantha, my sister had Kirsten ;) haha. Also got into collecting Magic Attic Club dolls. The clothes are no where near as nice as Pleasant Company's stuff... but the faces are gorgeous too.
I think pleasant Rowland worked on Kaya too cause it took 5 year's for Kaya from start to finish. She released in fall 2002

I got into AG when Kit was released, and she was my childhood obsession, so I'm so here for this rerelease! I really hope they drop more items from her collection. I just snagged her PJs and dog, Grace, but I already had all the other items.
Kit was my first doll from AG. I just bought her Birthday Outfit because I didn’t have it as a kid and I’m super excited for it to come.

Love kit, I agree that her original outfit is far far better than the beforever version, my kits shoes are very messy so I’ve replaced them with a similar style and put them away to preserve them

I have a first year kit for sure! I will have to take her apart to see what year. But I know it was in the first few months because I got her in 2000. I'll have to take her head off haha. Sadly I'm at work on break so can't check right now. Kit was the last doll I got before I stopped collecting shortly after that until this year. I saved up money and ordered her and I remember my mom brought her to school for me to open up when I got out of school and it was so exciting! My Molly I got in late 1998 at AG Chicago when it first opened so my Molly had the window box. My other 3 original dolls all have their original boxes in vary shape but it's cool to have them.
Also I am so glad you mentioned the 2008 in the tag! I saw that and was so confused, thinking it was the year! My mom tried to tell me I got her in 2008 and I'm like mom, I was not 17! There's a photo of me from about 10 with all 4 of my original dolls
What an amazing memory! I would’ve loved that. It’s funny your mom thought it was 2008. It’s so great that you got back into collecting. I feel like many collectors have a break in their teens (at least) and then pick it back up again. It’s fun collecting with adult money hahah

Fun! I do personally wish they’d shrink the dolls irises a tiny bit, but I think big eyes are usually the safe route with dolls for kids

My daughter has a Kit. I’ve always liked her but we had a rule of only 1 of a doll in the house when we were both collecting.
I love Josefina sooo much! I think that's a really good rule, and probably one I should follow haha. There's so much stuff I want, I really have no business having so many duplicates.

lol, marie-grace is the only american girl doll that i own currently. i got her in like 2012 when i was 10. i want to start collecting ag dolls and stuff like that, which i’ll do eventually lol. but yeah, i love marie grace. her, samantha, and kirsten are my top 3 FAVORITE historical characters 🤩🥰
Your Kit is perfect. Just the way she should look. Her hairstyle enhances her round face. I think she is awfully cute.
I have two of the early Kit dolls. I have to go figure out inside their shoulders/ heads. I bet they are not That early but I love them. I have one in very pristine shape, - the other is the one I dress and use.
Nice! I didn’t bother figuring out if I preferred the look of the later Kits because I knew I wanted a July, no question. Everyone has a different favorite era for each doll. I bet yours are super cute! Only persnickety people like me care about when they were made 😆
Well turns out the kit I got off ebay a little while ago in really good condition for very cheep is 5 months away from first edition! She's a 0-L!

I love her! Her face mold is soooo pretty. I probably would’ve gotten her if she didn’t have blue hair. If I ever get a new truly me, the one with her face mold is on the top of my list. I haven’t seen her in person but I’ve seen so many pictures and think she is so pretty!

I nave 12 dolls and the last one I bought was kitt . I had to send her to the doll hospital to have her limb tightened and head replaced. I have her original outfit which is complete.
I also have her blue dress with the yellow flowers the outfit is complete except the belt. I just bought her red Christmas dress. I like her original dresses not the before ever. I also have her original accessories. She’s a beautiful girl.

She actually doesn’t! Not sure why so many of them have that. Prob a poorly mixed batch of plastic?

But I was looking at my photos of kits and yes she has a chubbier face too! But I am excited for you! Kits been my favorite since I first saw her in the holiday 2001 catalog

Ok random question: Do you have one green eye and one blue eye?? Or is it just the lighting/angle/my pc?
My right eye is a about 1/3 green and 2/3 blue. It’s a type of heterochromia.
