If I might...the big orange store sells shelf brackets which are around a foot. You've got the nice 3/4 wall to mount them on, might be a better, more final solution. The brackets are located by the molding and stair treads not in the actual shelving aisle. Not the little light ones either, these are a white enamel heavy bracket, not sure on the current cost, so they may no longer as viable as they once were. Good luck and have fun. =)

you prolly could just have the ladder pretty flush to the wall and weight on the floor. i have a similar ladder. i love the project and am working on similar in my man-garage.
