Lynn S Each singer recorded themselves singing their part to a backing track, using a smart phone camera. Headphones were used to listen to the backing track so that only your voice was recorded. The video was then sent to the organisers who put them all together.
you can check out www.theselfisolationchoir.com and www.choraline.com are doing messiah going on with rehearsals right now. Not sure if they will be using recordings from the choir or if just singing along. There is a cost.
Fantastic. I love this and was doing circuits in our garden on Sunday afternoon listening to another recording via my mobile, whilst pounding the gravel.
Just found this because of that fab guest appearance you made with Gareth at Great British Home Chorus rehearsal last night. This is AWESOME!! I’d so love to have joined in but really appreciate your sharing your backing tracks so we can learn it. Thank you to everyone involved!

Love it! Brilliant job putting it all together! Small suggestion for the next one: Maybe give the BSL performer his own spot and don't layer his video over someone's face, that way we can see everybody ;)
Could you please describe the process involved, from the requirements of each of the participants to the upload processes, to the filtering and editing, and the total time involved to produce this. I ask this because many of my choir members have seen this, and although very inspiring, seem to think it is as simple as singing into their phones. Thanks
Hi Robb, it's a very time and work intensive process behind the scenes. Once people have recorded, the audio needs to be taken from each video, synced together, edited and mixed separately. Once that is done all the video files need to be synced with the audio (manually) and then the video edited. There is currently no system that provides a full template for a virtual choir and depending on how many people you plan to include it can take multiple days of full time work once everyone has recorded. We do plan to release some further resources but if you want to try your own I would recommend Logic Pro for audio mixing and FInal Cut pro (both very steep learning curves but very powerful programmes). Do get in touch again if you'd like help setting one up. Best wishes - Jamie
Hi Andrew, you may need to check your spam for a welcome email. If you don't have anything by tomorrow get in touch via the website and we will double check for you! Thanks for joining us! - Jamie
Hi Sandy, this was done with people individually recording their own part to a backing track and sending it in. I then edited the audio and video seperately. Unfortunately the technology available isnt good enough for live performance like this. - Jamie

What platform was used .. did you all sing at once or was it added a voice at a time?

Was this done with video conferencing? Would you mind sharing which platform?

I do not understand this conducting style at all. Still a fun, meaningful recording to all who participated.
Hey Linda, this is actually British Sign Language interpretation of the piece that Paul Whitakker was kind enough to do for us.
Thank you for the explanation. As a choral director, I thought maybe I’d missed a class on contemporary conducting!! 😌
Noticed that the last two soprano names are the wrong way around alphabetically! Great video anyway!
How do you get the list?
@@sheila1949 just visit www.stayathomechoir.com!
@@torilongdon8947 Thank you
I was lip syncing
haha the conductor still thinks he matters lol
do you mean the sign language interpreter in the bottom right?? not a conductor...
