Access to healthy and safe food is vital for our well-being. Without access to safe, healthy food, people may find themselves at risk for foodborne illness and numerous diet-related and chronic conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and certain forms of cancers. According to the FDA, more than one million people in the United States die from diet-related diseases each year. The CDC estimates that each year 48 million people get sick from a foodborne illness.
Join us for this free webinar where experts will discuss healthy eating programs that improve access to safe and affordable healthy foods. Attendees will also learn how to ensure effective food safety messages and information are included as a key part of healthy eating programs.
Guest speakers will include Tabitha Benefield, RDN of the FMI, The Food Industry Association, Jenn Parlin with Pima County Cooperative Extension, and Katie Weston of the Partnership for Food Safety Education.
