Thanks for this Knox. Your videos are great, and it’s got me back wanting to play banjo again, this makes it so clear and easy to understand and finally I’m playing stuff that sounds half decent!
I bought a banjolele some time ago as something easier to start with and I was looking for a banjo technique I could apply on my instrument to give it more proper character. This one works great, thanks for this video!
Yeah, check out my banjo recommendations for beginners' vid. All of my banjo acquaintances with way more experience than me suggest the Gold Tone AC-1 but I elaborate a lot on that in my video. Hope this helps
I was already doing that, banjo do be a loud instrument, not as much as my accordeons but still loud. Welp, thanks atleast for the answer and for the time! Keep up with the videos!
That’s cool I play similar to that way plus I flick all my fingers like what you said with the “up picking.” I tried the claw hammer way I can’t relax my hand doing it that way it cramps my hand it feels like it would give me arthuh-ritis but I keep trying at it one day it will work by accident. A lot of the things I learned are by accident and then if it sounds good to me I do it again 😂. I’m gonna try this one thanks 🙏🏻
Awesome vid, I wanna play blue grass stuff but I don't play banjo and I don't have money to purchase one, could I be able to play lead banjo lines on a uke or guitar? I love your cover of cripple creek I can't find any good renditions on streaming services have you considered posting a cover album? Also your accent has evaded me I hear lots of bits from north america, but then you pronounce words kinda aussie?
Im from the Southern USA. You could probably play them both as leads, assuming you just did more finger picking. I want to post something soon on streaming services, gotta record a few more songs
If you have any other tips I think all my fellow minstrels would love it . Good teacher bad ass finger work and even smoother vocals. i wanna learn more my parasocial friend.
That's a FINE lookin banjo you got there Sir. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Knox👍 you gave me some good ideas to work on.

Very useful tips. Appreciate you man! 👌
Ok from that motion add the pull off on the thumb string and you have up picking
Thank you Knox, you've really inspired me to play banjo and I really want to buy one. Is there any banjos that you recommend for a beginner as well?

About 2 years now
@@knoxmassey6822 ah right, love the videos man
Hey man I wanted to say my friend showed my ur vid and I cant stop listening since but I’ve gotta ask are your songs up on any streaming services
Not yet
Kinda like the Pete Seeger strum.
Do you have any tips to mute the banjo a bit to play it indoors without waking the neighborhood? Great video thought, much love from France
Yes, stuff a towel underneath the pot between the head and the rod underneath. You can buy banjo mutes but that method works best

Yeah man clawhammer can be tiring at times, its important to learn it well enough to not tense your hands when playing
You should do Paul new man’s plastic Jesus
Can i ask what happened to the frets why are there none
Built that way. Fretless banjo!
