Artistically speaking, DM never fully recovered after Alan’s untimely departure! It’s so unfortunate that Fletch had more influence on the band than did Alan; he was a masterful composer/arranger!

@@FavreianVengeance Fletch and Martin were founding members of Depeche Mode. Fletch was also known to be Martin's baggage carrier, and in the end, that was more important than Alan, who was just the hired hand. Let's not forget that Dave was drugged out of his mind when all this drama was happening, so he was no help. It was a shame that Alan was underappreciated. Who knows what sort of musical magic Depeche Mode could have made had he choose to stay.
