You folks are in Michigan! That's great! I fought in the DMZ, the Laotian border (Lam Son 719), Ashau Valley, and Danang. Danang was used for storage of Agent Orange. Anyhow we were in 4 of the most heavily sprayed areas and I firmly believe that it cost me my pancreas and made me a type 1 diabetic. I'm waiting to see what the VA says about it.

my husband had awful very damaging va of prostate. also couldn’t breath va gave him 100finaly for ptsd but that wasn’t for his difficultly breathing last year he died of covid. his lungs just shredded. He worked out and denied ptsd always but he definitely bhad it we were newly weds when he went to Vietnam. He got 100 percent from va but they have had me apply three times always needing death certificate Now they tell me after a year i can get no help. They were wonderful at va cemetery my children had to do all that for their dad alone as i remained in hospital with covid learning to breath again. He never smoked or drank he loves this country. God knows we need more of him. what men go thru shouldn’t be ignored

Tina, we are forever grateful for your husband's service. According to the VA, as the surviving spouse, you could be eligible for VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (VA DIC). This program is very fact specific and isn't always easy to apply. We think you should definitely talk to a local VSO for further assistance. If you need help finding a VSO near you, please give us a call.

I am from the U.P. and I was drafted into the Marine Corp in January of 1966 . Went to Vietnam in Oct of 66. I unit , 1st plt,3rd Bridge , 7th Engineers , was sent to Dong Ha, which is on the DMZ on Nov 11 of 19 66 , where , when air force dropped A.O. , it rained on us at the same time. About a month later I was transferred to "A" Company, 7th Engineers , where I stayed until i went back stateside.. In 1980 my youngest son was born with a BIRTH DEFECT, but had to wait until he was old enough to be operated on. 1984, had surgery to correct the birth defect at Tecumseh, Mi., hospital. The doctor did tests on the tissue and it came back ( positive for the same chemicals that are in Agent Orange ) In 2010, when I turned 65, I applied for my VA benefits. Went to C&P in 2011 for HEARING, AGENT ORANGE, PTSD JUNGLE ROT. Numbness of hands and feet. etc: Got the hearing/ tinninus, but denied the rest. Appealed the PTSD and won.(Fast forward.) May 12, 2023, had Heart Attack, went to local hospital where they did a CT Scan and found out I also had AORTIC ANEURYSM of about (9 in., in dia.) which could burst at any time. Sent by amblance to Grand Rapids, where the Specialist in that field were. They put a STENT in my heart and I talked to Dr., that was going to do surgery on the Aortic and sent home. Had to go to the VA clinic in the Soo, to have blood work. While there, my VA dr. gave me slip the said ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE> Agent Orange. Went back on June 26, 2023 where they put 10 STENTS in the Aortic Arterias because they had to reroute to major organs. went home. Went back on Feb. 1, 2024 and hasd new AORTIC VALVE put in my heart. I had that CT Scan done while at VA in 2011, how come they didn`t see it as it takes a lot of years to get that big. ANOTHER VA SCREW UP.

My husband trained in the planes as a paratrooper that were. Used to transporting agent orange to viet Nam in barrels before they actually declared the war. He was on Red alert packed ready to go. To Nam when his military time was up. Also he trained in one of the states where they sprayed the foliage for testing. . But has no prove.. except that he did fly in those planes. He has suffered 4th stage lymphoma survived but has not been the same again..p.us vocal cord cancer.

Thanks for watching, Charles! We're sorry to hear you've been having difficulties. We suggest working with a VSO (veteran service officer) near you. You can get one through your county or the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). If you have evidence that you were exposed, the presumption should still apply. It is just that those that served in Viet Nam in certain years that are presumed to have been exposed. Unfortunately, you will no have that presumption, but it sounds like you may have other evidence.

What about asthma I was in vietnam 1970 to 1971 and my asthma has gotten far worse.Thw va denied me when I filed in 1994 and as of today I have lately filed a claim to reopen my claim and the va records show that the va has been giving me medicine for asthma since the early 90"s.I had to use primatene spray mist when I was in vietnam because that is all they had when I went to sick call and 1 inhaler lasted me 3 to 4 weeks.I should get and I deserve back pay and asthma has been added to the presumptive disease caused by agent orange and making the disease asthma far worse.

Hello John - thank you for your service. At this time, Asthma is not on the official list of presumptive diseases. It is possible to still be compensated for asthma following agent orange exposure, but they are strict about documentation with when the asthma symptoms began to present. It can be a tough fight. Since you were denied, you may be able to file an appeal. I would contact a VSO or a Veterans Attorney near you. You can also call our office (810) 694-9000.
