  • Warning 1: Although I am usually wearing gloves while handling Poison hemlock, I didn't for this video. Smaller plants are less toxic, however I recommend taking the precaution of always wearing gloves when handling poisonous plants, and washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water afterwards.
Warning 2: Although I stated in the video that wild carrot is edible, there are many look alikes and I urge you strongly to always do your own thorough research before ingesting any plant you are not familiar with.
Disclaimer: The information in this video is for educational and entertainment purposes and is not professional advice on plant identification or toxicology.
That being said, if you are like me and have these two plants growing in your yard it is very helpful to know the difference. I have been pulling poison hemlock out of my yard since July 2019 when I moved here to Vancouver, Washington. It is my least favorite weed because it is so toxic and I am fond of growing edible plants that I do not want mixed up with Poison Hemlock or any other poisonous weed. It was very hard for me to identify these at first so I hope this video will point you in the right direction as you do your own research. Happy gardening!

I love that you made a video of the baby plants. This is when we really need to know the difference.

Thanks. Yes, I know what you mean. I want to get rid of them before they get too big and make seeds!

Thank you SO much! Most videos concentrate on the flowers but I already know the difference in the mature plants it is the sprouts that I am wanting to catch and I was getting very confused just looking at the leaves. Now I know I can look for the hairs even on the baby queen Anne's lace, that helps ( :
