People need to remember this. Yes both of their decisions hikaru and ai, are stupid, but think about it, we don't know who hakaris parents are, all we know he was with airi, and ai was abandoned when she was 9, there was no one to teach these kids the difference between right decisions and wrong decisions. I still find their decisions horrible but i understand why they did it.

Interestingly, Hikaru is not wrong when it comes to his statements aboutthe "true story" being fictional. I've studied writing for years and non-fiction works almost always fills in the gaps with fictional elements, or structures the events so they would be structured like a fictional story but those event's sequence with each other might as well be unclear for the writer. Ethically, writers would want to thrive for accuracy but would alter or fill in events for the sake of narrative consistency. If you're wondering how this would look like, just see any historical timeline of a person's life and try to make a story out of it. You'll find that you'll always be missing a few pieces and need to fill in those gaps with assumption or something to entertain the audience between events.

She was a traumatized girl too... She couldn't understand what it meant to love someone... In her head, she was reducing Hikaru's burden of caring for her and the children on top of his very public career and the secret of his SA. Not a good reason, but it made sense in her emotionally repressed, traumatized teenage brain.

Maybe the moral of the story is that just because actors can play a part, does not mean they should, it sounds like they were both really bad at understanding each other and the secrets regarding their trauma only amplified the eventually issues of being in a relationship. Codependency is not bad, it just cant be on person that is codependent or it isn't a relationship, meanwhile keeping secrets, lying, and not talking about your beliefs, trauma, and problems and what you believe causes all sorts of problems.

Yes, Ai's answer contributed to the horrid finale she had, but Hikaru was the one to ultimately decide to commit such act. Think about it, out of anger, out of spite, jealousy, disappointment and more, human beings are capable of doing whatever, even more when they claim they are doing it for “love” (basically, they're the heroes, the good people while doing the villain's work - just like we see perfectly shown on Nino). And at the same time, you cannot expect CHILDREN of 14-16 years old to decide, think and act like full-grown adults. Their brains alone have at least 8-11 years more to go to fully develop, and you expect them, two children with mental and physical instability, at the epitome of hormones, bad decisions, insecurity, risk-taking behaviour and peer pressure to think and act through and properly and come to a middle term that will benefit everyone? They couldn't. They wouldn't have been able even at the time Ai lived and was more mature. She was better and more grounded to Earth, but she still had a lot of darkness underneath. She never received the proper counselling or therapy. None of them did, so, in the end, in my opinion, this couple, as much as we would like to think of a “what if” or an alternative universe where everything was good, it's most probably that the story would have ended badly for both sides, if not the same.
I don't think people really understand the weight of this punishment. You can hide from pain. You can hide from people. You can get used to being in prison. You can even escape from life through death. However, there is one thing no one have been able to run or escape from; guilt. Guilt is considered the greatest punishment because it is a prison without bar, a leash without chain, and a torture artist that one cannot run away from. When the person you can't stand, can't forgive, and hated the most is yourself...what can you do?
Ai truly love Hikaru but ai doesn't know how to express it so she's not the affectionate type and if she didn't love him why would she carry their child and still protect him if she didn't truly love him

...Ai and Hikaru's love story is actually heartbreaking. They did an absolutely amazing job with Hikaru's character. Both he and Ai are so complex. He knew what he did was wrong, he never tried to blame others for it, and was ready to face the consequences without any complaint. Even death wouldn't bother him, I am sure. No, the only thing that hurt him was learning of the future he could have had. Meanwhile Nino... I guess she's just crazy. xD

While I get these two were not brought up in a loving family so how could they understand how to love themselves let alone each other. Ai made a bad decision but a decision nonetheless. Hikaru went off the deep end there's no justifying his reasoning. You kill the girl you love because she doesn't love you back? Knowing she gave birth to your kids are you stupid? Sure he couldn't have known that the stalker would actually kill Ai but his wanting to use a mentally ill super fan was a recipe for disaster no matter how you look at it. If you felt some sorta you could have easily visited her like you had previously seemed to be doing and let her know how you felt about her decision, in turn you could have met your children and maybe thought differently of sending some crazy after her for "revenge". It makes sense why Aqua went rouge so early on learning his father was behind this BS; leaving him with a trauma no child should have to grow up with. You got your girl killed in front of your kids traumatizing them in the same breath that they lose their mother and later learn their own father was behind it... that's tough. Wanting to kill him from Aqua's POV is justified in the fact he was enraged that he has such a horrible father/parent... whatever the heck he could be called, sire, sperm donor.

While I get these two were not brought up in a loving family so how could they understand how to love themselves let alone each other. Ai made a bad decision but a decision nonetheless. Hikaru went off the deep end there's no justifying his reasoning. You kill the girl you love because she doesn't love you back? Knowing she gave birth to your kids are you stupid? Sure he couldn't have known that the stalker would actually kill Ai but his wanting to use a mentally ill super fan was a recipe for disaster no matter how you look at it. If you felt some sorta you could have easily visited her like you had previously seemed to be doing and let her know how you felt about her decision, in turn you could have met your children and maybe thought differently of sending some crazy after her for "revenge". It makes sense why Aqua went rouge so early on learning his father was behind this BS; leaving him with a trauma no child should have to grow up with. You got your girl killed in front of your kids traumatizing them in the same breath that they lose their mother and later learn their own father was behind it... that's tough. Wanting to kill him from Aqua's POV is justified in the fact he was enraged that he has such a horrible father/parent... whatever the heck he could be called, sire, sperm donor.
