Thank you for the actual sound difference DEMONSTRATION! So many reviewers talk about what they sound like instead of actually showing what they sound like. Thank you!
I’ve got the quite comfort 2 earbuds and the QC ultra headphones the open ultras are my new go tos. Good quality sound and it lets me work at the office hearing my surroundings clearly while also being able to listen to my audible books.
I love both but understand the complaints. I run meetings in my open ultras and always have been told my mics sound great. I love the open design so much I’ve also ordered the freeclips as well to see what the hype is about
After watching so many reviews I see now that sound quality is subjective. I bought the Oladance OWS Pro and returned them because I also bought the Shokz Openfit and immediately loved the sound of the Shokz. It was very evident to me they had better sound, not even close. Yet in some reviews it is backwards. The Shokz get a really low sound quality score and the Oladance get top score. And here is another shocker for anyone interested in reading more. I really seek to find best sound quality on over ear buds. I don't like earbuds that stick into my ear canal. Therefore I've had a few: I even just bought the Bose Open Earbuds Ultra and was hugely disappointed, will be returning them. Every reviewer I saw said the sound quality was WOW on the Bose! They even compared it to the Shokz Openfit that I love and they said it beat the Shokz. So I bought it to try it for myself. I was really excited, something that will sound better then the Shokz?! Nope! Not to me. The Bose have a really sharp harsh sound, I don't like it, is that sound quality? They don't even have a nice bass sound like the Shokz. I've tried using the EQ but they are not even close to sounding as good and warm as the Shokz to me. Maybe I don't know what sound quality is but to me the Shokz Openfit have the better sound then the Oladance & Bose I've mentioned here. I have had and used all kinds of expensive earphones and still use some inside the ear earphones but very rarely this past year. I'm really into over the ear ones now. I’ve owned $500 wired in ear Shures 535, $400 Ultimate Ears Triplefi 10vi in ear phone buds, $550 AirPods Max, $250 AirPods Pro 2 and other cheaper ones. I hold these expensive models in high regards. The best one being the Shures 535. But what I’m striving for now is the best over earphone, not-inside you ear earphones. And it seems I will just have to try them for myself because everyone’s taste is subjective. In reality I really don’t need to keep searching because the Shoks Openfit really impress me. I think I just need to ignore reviews that say they are low sound quality and stop looking over the fence searching for a greener grass.
Indeed sound is subjective! I’m in a somewhat similar predicament. After many years of wonderful in-ear headphones, Im transiting toward open earphones. I’m also torn between Shokz OpenFit & Bose Ultra Open earphones. One deciding factor is the fact that I wear spectacles. That is keeping me from the loop style of the OpenFit. Do you use it with spectacles too? @Moessy706
great review I thought the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds were too expensive but I finally purchased them via Black Friday $70 discount. I was really impressed and decided to keep them it's great for listening to music and watching videos on my Macbook while still hearing everything around me. You earned a sub
At first i had issues wearing the bose open ultra for more than 3 hours but i realized that i was putting them on wrong. You have to slide them down as much as possible. Just put them on as usual and slide them down until they can't move any further down. This not only solved my comfort issues (i can literallly wear them all day like this) but the actual driver sit closer to my ear now. When i saw you putting them on 0:54 i was thinking you should try sliding them down more.
I prefer the QC ultra instead of the open tbh its up to ppl's preference because they both sound the almost the same. The open buds does not have maximum noise cancellation if u go to the store noise cancelation is not in the description cuz it cant really cancel noise when it's made to be of aware of surrounding. They are both very comfortable and does not fall easily. Its up to what you're looking for or what you want it for
I really like this design, but there's an issue. It disconnects when I connect to the GARMIN Fenix 6s to play music and activate the running mode. This happens eight times an hour. Both the software is up-to-date.
Maybe the bone conduction will come in a later version which will fill in for the lack of deep bass and the button segment behind the ear might be a placeholder for that in the future. That would be awesome 🎶
I play poker and Open Earbuds Ultra are perfect, click the button to pause, I can play a hand and hear everything at the table, then click button to return to the music. No need to pull out/put in earbuds or take off headphones and put back on. This iis the perfect solution for poker players.
I love my open ear buds & battery life is amazing. Some days I have them on the majority of the day. I have 3 pair of Apple pods & also another set of Bose, open are my favorites!!!
Since you are a regular glasses wearer, would you consider reviewing the owndays/huawei eyewear 2? An open ear headphone that doesn't require an additional device to be worn.
Hello Aaron, please explain how you record the "before" and "after" of all your samples in the subscription? Is it a dummy head recording? Or is it just an application that records the call? I wonder because AirPods Pro 2 does not remove noise for the other person on the call. Only for the one who puts it on his ears, i.e, it flips the phase directly into the person's ears - And for the other person on the call to hear the clean call, it is the iPhone "voice isolation" and "phone noise cancellation" algorithms inside the iPhone that does the job - so from this video it seems that you recorded the call itself via app or service (because it's on your ears and not on a dummy head), but the thing is that if you recorded it like that, it only shows us the algorithm of your phone and not the algorithm of your earbuds - please fix me if I'm wrong and explain in details.
Not really, i use the voice record app on iphone which purely takes the audio from the mics directly. no algos were applied except that coming from the earbuds. Regardless of phones that is what the listener will hear. Only the APP2 does not apply its own noise gating so you’ll have to use voice isolation mode on iPhone. Dont confuse active noise canceling with microphone noise gating. They have no relation whatsoever.
The QC ultras are just way way better. The opens are a niche product for a niche buyer.. For the love of God can Bose just please fire their software engineers, hire ones with a brain, let us turn ANC off if we need to like in windy conditions, and give us a solid customizable app with better connectivity. They have the best sound and best ANC with the worst software and features
@@bistduschlau9889 you are the very niche buyer. Open ear buds sound worse, perform worse, and are just for people who don't care about that... Which for people who want ear buds isn't common. Especially since hear through modes are so good now
A few days ago I bought some Bose Open Ultra and I have a small problem with them. When starting a sound, a sound like "ssssss" is heard in the background and when the sound ends it continues for a few seconds until it turns off completely
Great video! I’ve been using Bose QC earbuds for 4 years now on a daily basis. I love to wear it when I’m mowing, blowing and/or cutting trees. After 4 years, they still work great, the battery lasts a long time with 1 charge. I charge the case once every two weeks. Keep in mind that I use it to talk on the phone, work out and do yard maintenance. During the fall I I used for a minimum of 4 hours every other day, during this season I charge the case once a week. One thing to point out, I have yet to listen to anything on full blast. I find that extraordinary. Before the QC, I used to use the sport, I retired that after 3 years of very heavy used, that’s when I upgraded to the QC. Before the sports earbuds I had the wired earbuds, also lasted 3-4yrs of heavy usage. I stand by Bose for many reasons, one being the quality and longevity of their products. Which ever one you choose, it’s Bose, it will be great. You can always bring it back and get the other one.
Sad that Bose spent money and R&D on such a niche device. Wish they’d put their effort into improving Ultra earbuds (multi point and better aware mode, 8 or 10 band EQ) 2026 is gonna be an interesting year for earbuds.
Too many better choices for less. Bose needs to step up their game for what they want to charge. Smaller case, wireless charging and other features soundcore can provide for 100 bucks. Interesting design though. Thanks for the through review!
0:32 WHILE inundating people with music or phone calls that they don’t want to hear. Most of my electronics are Bose, but this has to be one of the most socially unintelligent products I’ve seen from them. Everyone knows it’s annoying and intrusive to talk out loud convo or play music out loud. 🤦
Bought it, and yes the mic sucks, it lacks wireless charging, multipoint connection and it’s overpriced for what you get. I ended up with the Huawei Freeclip, which has everything mentioned missing in the Bose including a better mic.

Ok I made a lot of calls with it and everyone was complaining about the noice around me and not hearing my voice well and I had to repeat my self couple times. It’s really not what I expected from Bose I think it’s only for music but not to make calls with it.
They're terrible... I bought a pair, the worked OK the first time I used them, then the right bud wouldn't charge. Then I wasted almost 2 hours chatting with Bose customer service with no satisfactory outcome. Avoid Bose products.
Every manufacturer has one off issues occasionally… every single one of them. Case in point I had same issue with a recent pair of apple iPod pros. Left earbud stopped charging. I returned and they gave me a new pair without question. In general Bose makes a solid product. And I know they would have offered an exchange or a return so not sure what your idea of satisfactory is beyond that.
