What a miracle for both Mom and Baby! Good looking heifer too! Thank God it wasn't 40 below and snowing. Nice job everyone did for No.1. Hope the rest of the Moms don't have this breech issue. Be Blessed!
That was intense. But with everyone helping it all worked out. I said Praise The Lord when the little rascal was out. Could hear Erin's excitement when she seen it was alive. Congratulations Dale. I'm one of the runner ups. That calf will always be special. #1. Thanks for a job well done guys.
Wow, that was a fascinating video.💙💚🐐
Awww, so precious. Scary situation, specially for a first time mom. So glad you found her when you did, Mike! Also glad that Erin and Carrie were there to help out! So critical to have a team there ready to jump into action. Congratulations to everyone!
😂 it's not that scary and all you really need is someone with long arms or a come along. You have lived until you've been armpit deep in the backside of a cow
So glad to see a healthy looking heifer. Could almost hear the tears of joy in Erin's voice when she saw the calf was alive. Felt for the new mom as she was having the calf pulled.
Thanks for sharing. Have a great evening.
Great job Mike Erin and Kari....so sweet to see the baby get her first drink!!
Yes it was!
I was willing her on so hard. They have to struggle on their own.
Wow Mike that was a hard pull, glad baby an mom are ok. The girls done a great job at helping. Baby is so beautiful ❤️
Congratulations on the first calf..arriving..Maggie and calf look great and you all did a great job....I personally miss those days. Great hustle mike....
Can't wait to see the rest...😊
What a way to start calving 2023. More excitement than everybody needed but I'm glad everything is ok. Heifer calf looks good and is being very vocal for herself. Congrats to first time Maggie. ❤ 🐂 🇺🇸

I appreciate that y’all are showing how hard we work to save lives and keep them alive. It’s often misconstrued by Hollywood and others. Great job calving and filming!
OMG, wow, that was intense, so intense that I chewed some finger nails off watching you all getting that calf out of mom. Glad calf & Mom are doing well! Thank you for sharing these videos. It gives me a whole new appreciation for all that farmers like you and other's do!
Glad you enjoyed it Theresa.
Y'all did an excellent job!! Mom appear to be adapting, and both are well.
Congratulations Maggie on your first calf....your baby girl is beautiful💕 and Congratulations to OWL for y'alls first calf of the season! Beautiful job, well done, goes out to Maggie's 'team' of helpers😊🇺🇸👍
Awesome job you guys! That calf coming breach is something that doesn't usually turn out this Great! So glad you guys caught this way early! Many things can happen as a heifer is giving birth. I'm so glad you guys have such a sharp eye on things. I grew up on a dairy farm in WI until my early 20s and all I can say is Thank Heavens for the Webcams now available. Lots of times, when we had cows calving and things went wrong, we didn't find out until someone went down the barn to check on things. Many times that wasn't fast enough. What's more scary is sometimes they both didn't make it.😢 Technology is in most cases an AWESOME thing. I know you guys also go out and lay eyes on all of the heifers that are due to calf. That is also still needed, but that camera makes it so you can know something may be going wrong sooner than before the webcams existed. I'm so happy mama took right to her calf. I doubt that heifer would have bothered you when you were tagging her calf, but you can't be too careful, that much I do know. I think she knows you guys were the ones who helped her to save her calf and get her out of the horrible amount of pain she was in. The fact that she let you just walk right up and take her calf for a few minutes tells me that. I've seen some meat farms (not a dairy farm-where the cows are bred to raise steers for meat) where the cows (and steers) are just WILD and even sometimes mean. I think you guys do a great job of socializing your animals, so you can work with them, especially in a case like this when something goes wrong. Even though the heifer mom was a bit frightened, I think she Knew something was wrong, and you were the people to help her. I could tell that by how calm she was when you lead her to the barn after the calf was born. The fact that she accepted the calf right away after the traumatic birth tells me that she trusts you guys. Sometimes a heifer especially after a traumatic birth will reject their calf from being in shock. You ALL did a Great job, you care about your animals, and it shows! Sure wish you guys lived closer, I would be buying at least a whole steer a year from you guys. We have 16 kids and 27.5 grandchildren, we could use that much beef on a regular basis. Since we live in GA, I don't know if you would have a way to ship that much beef down here for what would not be an astronomical price, or if it is even feasible. If it is, please let me know, I would LOVE to buy ALL of our meat from an awesome farm like yours. Since my family, as well as my extended family is no longer farming at all anymore, I can't have them raise a steer for us, like my parents used to have my grandparents or uncles do for them. I hope the REST of the calving season goes off without a hitch! Keep up the great work! I sure appreciate you guys sharing your farming/ranching (tomato/tomoto lol) with us! It makes my heart happy. 😊
Congratulations Dale! Beautiful heifer....tough pull. Good to see Mom is so attentive after that! Congrats Mike and Erin...another girl for the ranch. It's so nice to see your herd grow! Blessings.
That was totally cool and a win for Maggie the heifer, she's a good mom, and it looks like your help means that #1 will survive!
Congratulations 🎉 Hope they both do well now. Kinda worried about mom loosing so much blood.
The miracle of birth gets me every time. Good job mom and the gang! ♥️
Erin did amazing job telling you to pull it slowly and wait for mom to push. She approach the situation like a real woman whom give a birth and knows how it goes. Bravo to Erin and congrats to a mom.
I've got to say, Kari was a great help,\. It's obvious she is experienced around a ranch. For a breech baby, I thought everything went extremely well. Finger's crossed and prayers said that you have a great calving season.
Kari and Erin both were big help! Thanks for watching Mike.
I was so worried for mama and her baby. Thanks to you all being on the ball for getting the breach calf out and alive! She sure is a healthy and pretty little heifer! Mama is doing an excellent job feeding her newborn baby girl!❤ She has taken to motherhood great being a first time mom!!! Thanks Mike for helping deliver a beautiful baby heifer!!!
I so love happy endings. So happy that this little girl was alive. Congratulations Mike and Erin. Great work
You can tell alot about a person by how they react in a high pressure situation. You passed the test, Mike, by keeping calm and collected. You have nerves of steel! lol Great job team!
Congratulations!!!
You 2 gals looked like us carrying a calf earlier this wk.
You caught the breech right off the bat, great job getting her so quickly Mike. Some folks may not know, but when the bottom of the calf's hooves face upward, it's a breech. I'm so glad the birthing went as good as it did, the calf and cow bonded good. Mamma call and calf's response is a wonderful thing to hear. Loved the video, great job Mike. Thanks for all you do, have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!
First calf and breach, ouch 😢 always exciting for the first of the years calves. Another job well done Our Wyoming Life.
Thanks for the video Mike nicely done with the 🐄 and calf. Take care of yourself and family and be Blessed ❤️❤️
Thanks 👍
I don't know how I missed this video...WOW that was pretty hard on all of you. That poor momma sure did some crying. Amazing to watch this birth and miracle of life. ❤🙏
Congratulations to the ranch for your new heifer calf, and congratulations to Dale for your big win!
Thanks 👍
Great patience by all during that intense delivery. You guys rock!
Thanks Dan H.
Awesome episode and thank you for being so good to your animal's!!!!! ❤ You all did an outstanding job and the new momma ❤❤
Thanks for watching MaineUSA
Absolutely incredible. Not just that the she made it, but how you guys jumped in and did what was needed. Much respect . You should be very proud. If not, I'm proud of what you guys did together as a team. Much love and respect for all you do. Bless you all.
You know, my heart just sank when the calf made its first noise and mom was like what that's mine....and then when baby was taken to be tagged how momma was a little upset. So so very heartwarming...now I can say Welcome Spring. Thank you for all you do and to educate people like me who are clueless. I work for a clinic that cares for the employees of Cargill, our local meat processing plant and I love how you have taught me the brighter side of these amazing animals.
Wahoo! Great work Mike, Erin, and Carrie! Momma cow and her calf are good because of your hard work in the heat of the moment.
That was incredible! I was feeling for momma! lol
Congratulations on a healthy mom, and babe! 🐄💗🐄
OMG.. I was crying.. great job everyone 💜💜
My heart was breaking with this momma.. I was helping her push ..
💜💜💜💜💜
Wow nothing like an exciting birth to kick off the calving season!! Well done y'all! 🤠
The calving problem we are having is that the bulls are coming out bigger than the heifers. The bulls have to be pulled.
The Miracle never gets old!!
Congratulations!
Good move having the heifers up by corral.
Stay safe.
Keep Smilin!!!!
What an exciting delivery ! Alls well that ends well thankfully both Maggie and her baby are both doing fine thanks to Mike’s , Erin’s and Kari’s help . Poor Maggie it was so traumatic for a first time mom to go through a breech birth , I really felt for her crying in pain and she was scared because she’d never delivered before . Good Job Maggie and welcome little heifer .❤
Boy that was a tug. You have a good team and you know what to do. Nice calf. Good luck on the rest.
Thanks 👍
Congrats Mike, to you and your team for other beautiful baby. I shed few tears for mama..hated to hear her suffering. You all did an amazing job.
OMGosh what a team! Beautiful little calf! Glad Momma is doing her Momma thing!
Holaluya it was alive!!! That was very dramatic. What a way to start heifer calving you did a great job Mike 🤠
Thanks 👍
I know absolutely know nothing about cattle. But, have spent hours watching this channel. From what I’ve seen in this video, this is a beautiful calf. Having seen her standing the day after her birth she seems to be very sturdy and fairly big. I think this is a calf that is going to make long term contributions to the ranch. I predict everyone should keep an eye on purple number 1 for years to come. She is going to make great babies, who are easy to delivery. Can’t wait to see her calf she delivers as a heifer.
Great work from a great bunch of people. Loved listening to Erin talking to the baby!
Great work !! When the hoodie comes of it means business
Thanks Joe T. Hoodie removal is the roll up your sleeves of the 50's and 60's!
Mike, listening to the momma cry in pain got me crying. Just watching all that mess upset me for her. I had three boys all c section. But cant imagine the agony she delt with. Even her going down.
But thrilled both are doing fine. And shes taking care of her baby.
She’s doing great! She’s a good momma!
Great work, Maggie! You made a beautiful little heifer! Mike, Erin, Kari, you guys are amazing! We're looking forward to another great calving season with you guys. Thanks so much for the great content!
So glad everything turned out for everybody. Poor mama seemed in a lot of pain. ❤❤❤
Woot woot I guessed right - Congratulations Dale on your $100 win - Glad mom and baby are healthy and happy - Erin that's why I always had extra clothes at the barn during foaling season at the horse breeding farm I worked at 😊
Outstanding team work!!! Congratulations on a new and healthy heffer to your farm!! Well done!!
Great job everybody! Congratulations Momma#39. Beautiful baby🥰
Thank you sugarlum13.
Absolutely mind blowing the amount of work Mike and the gang does, I honestly can't stomach seeing births even tho it's a miracle but I forced my eyes open to keep watching with the upmost respect for what the circle of life is and the incredible work farmers and ranchers do every day. Amazing!
Way better start than last year! Hopefully this good news sets the stage for the rest of the season!!
Best choice of music because it really brought to us the amount of tension and anxiety you guys had to be feeling during the process. I was so relieved when Erin said it was alive and I could hear the relief in her voice too. The fact that she's a heifer must have made your day because no one wanted to see that calf go into the beef packages...
Great job by all of you, Mike, Erin and Carey
Great job EVERYONE!! I was breathless when you all were working so hard to get that calf out. My heart is still thumping pretty good. Thank you for the wonderful footage and all the hard work. Win!! Liz
Great job everyone! I'm glad you explained the OGH paste so I didn't have to google it 🙂
Glad it was able to be helpful Val! Thanks for watching.
Great team work with the three of you. A well oiled machine with all of you working together and getting a successful delivery done. Hope Mom is ok. That was a tough pull for a first calf.
When I saw Breech Delivery all my 3 births came back to my mind & 3 Emergency c-sections cause all my babies love to flip during labor... Great job you guys so glad the mum's are close to home and you were able to save both ❤
Birth absolutely scares me.
I’ve been a fan for years. Educational videos, such as this one, are the diamond in the rough. It’s nice to see how the animal, in his natural habitat, still embraces old school technology like a wristwatch.😅
What a video! Should win an award! Gave me goosebumps. Your teamwork was amazing. And you are all so impressive!!
Mike you and the ladies we just awesome with that birth!!! Ladies Mike couldn’t be Mike the rancher without your help!!!!!! Thanks again for a wonderful video!!!
It may have been more work then you wanted but that calf is beautiful! Job well done by you and mama! Lol!
It caving season, and you've got to be prepared or expecting anything. Especially with first time mothers. Thanks for watching Kathy K.
That poor young cow was having a very rough first time birth! I’m glad it all ended well
All of you did a great job. I'm so happy that mamma and baby are doing good ❤️
I've got a question. I'm a young man who doesn't have any kids, and have not seen a live birth of a mammal before. I've seen my fair share of wild stuff on the internet but something about watching birth happens is both amazing, and terrifying. Do you ever get over that? Amazing video as always OWL.
Congrats Maggie on her first calf and yours! Hugs and love from Ontario, Canada
Not a great day when a guy has to grab the calving jack. Just the way it goes. I dislike calving out first time heifers. Lol . We buy our cows experienced now for the most part. Still buy the odd bred heifer as a reminder not to buy a bunch of them. Hahahaha
I always like seeing how folks set up their corrals. Just helped a neighbor set his up. Non farmers don't understand how crazy Angus can be , trying to move them into a catch pen
Great job brother, that was intense. I had a similar situation while visiting my brother down in Virginia. Then all of a sudden he really started to panic saying we have to get the calf out or we're going to lose one or the other or maybe both. Now this was my first time participating in anything close to this so basically I had no idea what was going on. Long story short is everything ended up working out great. My brother told me if he was alone may have turned out really bad. I had a big smile on my face after hitting the sack that night and my brother stuck his head in the door and said it's not like helping delivering puppies. Take care brother and be safe.
Greg
.
A backwards calf will have an intact umbilical cord until the hips are out. Then you have 60 seconds. Luckily hips are as wide as any other part of the body
Always put a half hitch on both forward and backwards calves, keeps from breaking bones!
Wow, I did not think the calf was going to be alive. Good job!
Poor Maggie having such a difficult birth for her first time. I hope she has easy births from here out. Great job pulling that little heifer !!! Team work in action ! So happy you have a healthy little heifer ❣️❣️❣️
Congratulations on the first calf of the season
Music to calve by. So nice to witness the miracle of birth. Great team effort folks.
Thanks for sharing and hope everyone stay safe hugs and prayers. ❤❤great job Mike and Erin see you next time on Our Wyoming Life😊cute calf🐮
Your welcome Wykeisha, and thanks for watching!
That’s a real life video Mike. Good work, glad the calf made it!
We actually had the vet do emergency c section on Hereford because calf was breech. Both did fine.
That great to hear Jackie.
The miracle of life! So beautiful. Maggie's going to be a good mama.
Very impressive! Love your channel, it's inspirational, educational and just so fun to watch and learn all things ranching and homesteading!
Thank you very much!
Always enjoy watching your videos brother from the imperial county California 👍👍🖐️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Congratulations to Maggie and to OWL family.
Welcome to the world, little one, Welcome. I'm not a winner but couldn't be more pleased.
Nice little heifer. Glad she and mom are doing well. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed watching. 💜💜
And it starts and just had a feeling she was going to be the first one. Congrats, nice little girl good job Mom.
Phew. Had me crying. Saw a MIRACLE today on Our Wyoming Life ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Our wyoming life I hope you have a great weekend and the baby calf looks great and congratulations Maggie the heifer cow. I think I picked Lincolns white face heifer.
Mercy I hate it when I remember those days . Was barely strong enough to get a calf back in let alone turned and back out.
Congratulations !! Job well done.
OMG what a miracle!! You both did a wonderful job on this!, I was thrilled to see this birth being successful! Great job you two!,
Congratulations!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Along with OGH paste, you should give them Optimizer Gel, that Sonne Farms gives every calf born it prevents scours, and dip or spray the umbilical cord with iodine.
OGH also prevents scours.
congrats on the first born of the year. Hopefully getting the hard one out of the way.
Fingers crossed!
@@OurWyomingLife I have all my fingers and toes crossed!
That was quite the kick-off to calving season! Gorgeous calf! Glad the mother is okay!
Wow that was suspenseful! Holy crap, even though I already saw the earlier post that it was fine.
Congratulations Dale!
Oh my gosh! Awesome! You guys are an excellent team! Intense birth, so glad all is well! Welcome to the ranch #1! ❤
Beautiful mom and baby. So glad things ended well for you all.
Congratulations on the new calf. So very exciting to see Mom and calf doing well. Thanks for all the great team work.
Congratulations on your first calf. My sister and brother-in-law, their heifers calved out. and the first heifer that calved had the first one without any help and surprise them with a twin however, it was a breachleen and no matter what they did for life-saving measures. The poor little fella just did not survive, but it was quite miraculous that a heifer would Calve twins on her own. And they just happen to get there at the end of the breachleen being born
What an amazing video. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
