I found that the difference between burning hardwood vs softwood depends on the chimney draft, I have tried both in my Harman P61A the hardwood seems to produce a lot of ash, while the softwood is much cleaner, I usually burn about 4 to 5 tons in northern Vermont, so far this year as of today I've used 3 tons and cleaned my Harman once, I scrape the burnpot occasionally but not every day, this year I'm using laCrete,.
@@woodpelletwarehouse They are OK, I normally burn Platnum brand of pellets from Vanderhoof specialty wood products in British Columbia but my dealer couldn't get them when I was ready to buy them so I settled on the LaCrete's, they burn good but not as clean as the Platinums. I buy them from my local hardware store.
In 2007 I got some 100% softwood pellet from NY and was the best I ever burnt. I have burnt Maine wood pellets for years and unfortunately our lumber yard was sold to lavalley so now they sell new England pellets junk! No one around sells maine wood pellets. Here in NH we need more maine made pellets.
I burned Granulco for a few years and switched to Laclede (now Homechoice). They burn cleaner and hotter than Granulco in my Enviro P3 stove. The pellets themselves are smaller in length so I find i have to adjust my auger feed if I'm switching between the brands.
I just started using softwood pellets crabbe brand.
We carry a brand similar to the crabbes called Upcountry Softwood. How did you like them?
Not bad at all. Better than walmart that is for sure.

Are the lacretes still burning fine for you? Also, do you buy your pellets from us? Thanks for you feedback / input.
