"I think we are still together because i was the first person Eirik met at the party" Perfection 😊 This documentary is not just charming, its actually very comical too seeing how they differ. Like 2 old men who sit on the same park bench every day arguing, but meet up the next day because they value the companionship.
@@stiansvigfilm8964 There are two old war veterans who meet at a little coffeeshop nearby here in Helsinki - everyday but Sunday - to play chess and curse at each other in creatively crafty Croatian and surreptitiously silly Serbian, but they're there... Every. Damned. Day. And they totally slay at chess.
Their dynamic is so… 😂 can’t believe they stuck this long together, but after seeing erlend’s explanation of how he viewed eirik, damn that’s kinda poetic, it just happened that he was the one he met at the door, at that party 😂 what are the chances, they’re lucky to have met.
I love Kings of Convenience, Whitest boy alive, Kommode, Erlend Oye, and everything these guys touch. These may two of the most genuine songwriters of our time. They played in Washington DC after a decades long haitus from playing in the states. My Wife and I drove 6 hours round trip from NJ to see them. One of the best live shows of my entire life ! Love the new album and loved learning more about you gentlemen.
Just saw them last night live at the Fonda in LA.. their sound is surreal in person! The performance was magical. So proud of them for coming a long way
They often seem slightly annoyed with one another 😅 every time they go years between albums, i think they’ve broken up, but they always turn up again (thankfully)
Now what they have achieved is as great as Simon & Garfunkel. They've created a whole new sound with two guitars and some string instruments and it's safe to call it a genre now.
I waited 2 hours to see them once in Austin, Texas during SXSW and only got in for part of the last song. Eirik found out about it and got me on the guest list in Dallas the next night with my Dad. To this day its the best show I ever went to and a special memory with my Dad. Watching this documentary made me realize that I am lucky to be the first one to talk to Eirik that night 😂. Of course Erlend vanished the moment the show was done on the way to his next adventure. Absolutely magic seeing them play live and super special genuine people. Feist was wonderful too and so warm, friendly and cool to talk to. While Simon and Garfunkel made wonderful music at the beginning. Sadly, over time they came to hate each other and aren't even on speaking terms really today so it's amazing that Erlend and Eirik have maintained both a good friendship and working creative musical relationship despite being so different. The music itself takes on a greater meaning as an expression of that love and friendship they have.
I like how candidly they all talk about them being so different, I always noticed how straightforward Erlend is, and how Eirik is so patient and calm. The way Erlend described Eirik and why they stuck together for so long with the party example was so sweet, also about the work being 60% and 40%, I wonder if it's Erlend the one who has to cede the most hehe. I remember reading a random comment (which I disagree with) about how "restricted" he was with his music in KOC. Regardless, I hope they continue making music together for a long time, and I hope to see them live someday, please come to Canada I beg you... :)
Thank for this Documentary Love to know more about Erik, Erlend and Kings of convenience their magical sound open up some vulnerable part in my soul. Grateful to have their music come to my life.
Seriously, there are no average songs in their catalogue to date. An excellent duo...... who possesses Simon and Garfunkel like qualities. Perfectionists to the core.
Your songs are always my favourites. Please don't stop to making music The classic phrase is that your songs save my life. Rumors are the songs that mean the most to me. LOVE YOU GUYS
I just listened to this songs all the time and help me through tough times. I am very much thankful to understand them more. Thank you for opening up to the world your story.
I love their music. Their sound is so gentle and magical, like twinkling stars. Their voices blend beautifully together and the lyrics touch my heart. I hope they tour the U.S. again, it would be wonderful to hear them in person.
Watching this was like finding a few more pieces to the jigsaw of the KOC puzzle. Watching them live would add a few more missing pieces, but their music still remains a fascinating mystical tapestry of soulful folk balladry in an increasingly monotonous world of pop music.
Love love these guys such a great sound n vibe they create together. all that hard work creates such beautiful elegance. ….and I get lost in Eirik’s eyes..whew.
i was listening to their music but this short film is wonderful, and i know now better them they are really impressive, and now they re much more understandable for me
Thanks for the beautiful documentary, it's geninue and lovely just like them. As an old fan I could feel they're very different, but also have many things in common, that's the beauty of a life-long friendship, two don't have to be the same, but can always learn from each other and grow together. Like Eirik said, Erlend was the one first caught up my attention, but later I realise KOC is both of them, can not exist without any of them, and Eirik's voice is so soft and warm, their combination is simply perfect.
Their sound is so pure, honest and exquisite. They are fierce and vulnerable. The first time I saw them I left wanting to learn to play an instrument because when I saw them I could feel the joy and the amazing conversation between them and the other musicians. And, watching this documentary helped me to understand what I felt a bit more. It is amazing, thank you!!!
thank you for making this. so wonderful to see a little bit deeper into their creative dynamic and history together. i feel so lucky to be on this earth with them and to hear their sounds.
@@stiansvigfilm8964 Thank YOU. I really enjoyed it, it was very interesting, well produced, and those two are one of a kind. This documentary does them justice. Well done.
I remember when they came to Manila for a 1-night show and it was truly magical for me and my friends who were there. And while it's true that in between songs, Erlend has the attention because of the stuff that he says, Eirik shines just as bright when they start playing again. I hope they continue to keep making music together!
Wonderfulll and great documentary ❤.. really enjoy to watch this every minute.. thank u so much to let us know more about these amazing talented guys.. love Eirik and Erlend from beginning .. please keep on make music.. ur music is like water in the dessert..touch our heart deeply ❤❤❤
i cried literally the whole way through this documentary cause wow. Every single song on this album is amazing, such a beautiful friendship. Such a beautiful story of chemistry and bond, musical soulmates. Long live the K.O.C
Really great documentary: great concept, great interviews, great editing. So cool, that the ending worked out so well, with the ‚pretty street‘ and the singing, exemplifying the actual process of how spontaneous ideas of the two protagonists materialize into something real in real time, without any cut. Well done, Stian Sævig, thank you for this gem!! (Of cause - the Kings of Convenience are great, too :) )
I could watch this documentary a lot of times. They make me fell happinees every time I hear their music. It's just beauty

Eirik and Erland’s music just explains the things I can’t …..
perfectly….
I just watch this documentary while I was traveling alone on a bus ride home, it feels so cozy. Thanks a lot for it. ❤

I can’t wait to see them in NYC this October-bucket list, a dream come true.

Oh, it came back? I thought this documentary was deleted back then in Kings of Convenience channel. Thank you for returning this gem!
This should get more viewers and likes! I hope they will travel more to SEA especially Indonesia!

Loved them / their music for years - touches deeply. Thanks for posting, great to get some insight in the first person and not rely on reports.
Thanks for these insights. Following them for more than 20 years, saw them in Cologne, Paris, Berlin - and there was more than one tear involved.
Love it too much!❤ thank you

Wow, thank you for kind and explicit feedback! Agree about the ending, was lucky, didnt expect to get a unique and authentic clip like that.
What is this gem
Love It ❤
rumours is breathtaking!
They inspired me to become a singer songwriter!
I love them since the first record.
A great docu of KOC : )
Them stop making music will surely break my heart.
Return in Puglia this Summer please 🇮🇹👌🏻
You did him dirty with the thumbnail.
Los amo Erlend y Eirik 💗
I loved every bit of it. ❤
I just wish they would come the US. Most of European band has made themselves to the US with the KOK as the exception.
I want to move to Norway and be impossibly thin, too!
They are two magnets, for and against.

Controversy on the horizon.
