The items *are* useful to a certain extent, but most of what they're offering can be substituted with cheaper tools which do the same stuff if you don't want to spend a lot of money
the thing about portable carry-on filtration system is that they aren't able to provide optimum filtration in all outdoor environments . . . in terms of the type of water body & where it is located . . . and how that influences the quality of water in rushing across a tiny stream . . .

We understand your point. However, when you're looking for drinkable water, you'll naturally find a source where you can safely use these filters.
