- When we first heard Leif Vollebekk's latest album New Ways we immediately fell in love with it. It offers a sense of warmth and familiarity at first listen, with the universal theme of love (both lost and found) being its driving force. The Canadian singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist performed a handful of songs from the record on his recent visit to KCRW.
Set List:
0:00 Apalachee Plain
4:40 Blood Brother
10:30 Hot Tears

For the betterment of humanity, this should have millions of views. Phenomenal.
I feel that it has more value when someone doesn't have millions of views, if you know what I mean. It makes me feel that I've "discovered" someone rare and unique and non-commercial. I often prefer these artists.
@@temporarydive So true. I suspect if he a million followers or whatever I wouldn't even pay attention. Heard him first with Angie and want to hear more from that point on.
It’s so easy to feel his music run through you. So smooth, so beautiful, so much soul. Leif is definitely a unique artist and we need more like him.
This man lives and breaths music. You can see how deeply he feels the music.
The audio on this video is amazing, captures the warmth and resonance and subtle details.
Excellent camera work and video editing.
Kudos to the KCRW team.
Totally agree with you.
Recently listened to an interview with Lief on the Basic Folk podcast. He has synaesthesia and experiences sound or music as a visual image. So lives and breaths music is a metaphor, but he definitely feels music.
this is like taking a warm bath in a room full of candlelit kittens
So happy I stumbled upon Leif in Belfast in 2017 supporting Gregory Alan Isakov. How Talented is he?!
New Waves EP released just now with three of these KCRW recordings! Along with a few other great live tracks. So happy. Many thanks to KCRW for this gem of a recording, I've listened to it countless times.
These guys just come in and give this performance. Unreal. I need to see Leif live.
It helps when you have a singer who never misses. I mean, i've watched 4 different live versions of Elegy and he sounds just like the recording every time. He probably did it in one or two takes.
What a performance of pure feeling... overwhelming....
10:45 gooooood lord what an intro
Man, that is a sweet sound - just made my night 👌
There’s just nothing else I can listen to…his music clears my world of all the suffocating noise.
best live musician i've ever seen. Leif, I was in your top 2% of spotify listeners in 2020. I saw you in SF. LOVE YOU! THANK YOU
Transatlantic Flight was sublime. Bravo.
Impressive sound! I like this musician a lot!
Such a great concert. Love the back to back 'guitar faces' from the drummer and bass player @9:55 :)
Seriously one of the most talented artists doing it right now, I think. Me and my girl are going to see him in New Orleans in March and I'm thrilled
the best kcrw session... can’t get enough
@15:00 Wow everytime i hear this man, such pleasure.

These are my absolute favorite tracks among his many beautiful songs.

14:50 Leif you're a genius
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love all these tracks and the live energy. Apalachee Plain sounds like the very best Cowboy Junkies - Neil Young mashup possible.
Beautiful music. Thanks
Glad you like it!
Thanks for sharing this live. Love Leif's music so much.
If you want to see someone complete lose themself in the music, if you want to see unfiltered joy, watch.

Guitar, vocs and keys. Hahahahahaha awesome!
Great, great video. We're gonna see him live here in Aarhus, Denmark at our small venue, Atlas, in the middle of April 2020. Can't wait ...
How was the show?
@@chrisgray9220 Oh my!!
Songtext:
Coincidence is piling up,
Don't know if it's a sign
Sometimes you got no choice in the matter
You gotta
Shake the tree of time
You see I finally found another
That I'd like to introduce
Do you know what I'm thinking,
Can you tell me who I am
Do you think that I am doomed?
You're my blood brother
What am I gonna do?
You're my blood brother
She's just like me and you
I really fell hard for you baby,
I won't fall for that again
With my mind twisted and turned in all directions
Til I don't know who I am
You know your lips when they kiss me
It's like a gun against my skin
But if ever they cut you down with a dagger,
Only I would feel it going in
She's my blood brother
What am I gonna do?
She's my blood brother
What am I gonna do?
My life is on the radio,
They're saying it's a dream
I can tell that the lights are fading
But it's just a change of scene
You know sometimes it's like I'm weightless
And it's just like I ain't here
In fact for my next performance,
I'm gonna plain disappear
She's my blood brother
It's just like I ain't here
She's my blood brother
I'm gonna plain disappear
She's my blood brother
It's just like I ain't here
She's my blood brother
I'm gonna plain disappear
Love !
I'm in love with him!
❤️
unreal

So amazing 🥰When are You coming to Portugal?
damn. damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why isn't the keyboard guy wearing a knit hat (aka: tuk)? (: Love your voice P&L
A transatlantic flight brought me here... or maybe I was just drifting on an astral plane.
Anyone know what model the second guitar he uses is? Looks like a unique danelectro
Seems to be a Silvertone 1448.
Anyone know what the white guitar is that Leif is playing? Looks like some sort of jazzmaster I've never seen before.
what key harmonica does he use in first song?
Who knows
Very influenced by Jeff Buckley. Discovered him on "The Bold Type".
