Something about the wire brush on the drums reminds me of gently falling snow
I think it comes from the Vince Guaraldi Trio and the Charlie Brown Christmas music. They use the wire brush on the drums and I always associate that with Christmas and snow whenever I hear it. Anyhow, just a thought.

I think that soundtrack simultaneously influenced and somehow ruined my taste in jazz, because on one hand it’s basically how I was introduced to jazz, but on the other hand whenever I listen to something like Miles Davis’ Blue in Green all I can think about is Christmas music lol

There were horse trails nearby, which were obviously vacant at night. We'd sneak in with our cooler of beer and guitars and drink and play into the night. Christmastime, we'd sometimes seek out that tiny, scrawny Charlie Brown balsam sapling that needed some love...then, rip it out by it's roots and toss it into the campfire! No, no, of course not. We would actually bring a few small ornaments and a tiny star and treat it like royalty, singing Christmas Carols around it.

It's February 2, 2023. It's cold and this is the third day of sleet and freezing rain. As I look out the window everything is coated with ice. But I'm thankful for so many things, namely heat and power for starters. I'm also thankful for this channel and the music that helps me maintain serenity.
I used to play this and it used to soothe my baby girl and stop her from crying back in 2019 when it first came out. She was born in November 2019. Thank you so much BGM Cafe for having such amazing jazz❤️

Got to save this for Christmas time. I tend to get tired of hearing the standard Christmas songs over and over. This sets such a nice mood.
My favorite Christmas album is The Oh Hellos' Family Christmas Album. The songs are kind of medleys of traditional Christmas songs, very upbeat and warm, but definitely embracing that darker element that comes into some of the old carols. Also Loland Hum's album Native Air; a lot of it's not very Christmas-y sounding, but it's definitely a Christmas album, and very good! This is indie-folk stuff, btw.
I have been using this as background music for our senior center,and our Meals on wheels program so many comments of how comforting the music is..

Chill to warm the chill...though there's no snow in SF, it's chilly! A buttery baked potato, a glass of wine, and memories. Even though I didn't listen to music like this when I lived in the northeast US, it captures the winter feel very well. Sigh, gonna move back there whatever it takes!

When i lived in charles st (cardiff in the 80s) there was a basement jazz club round the corner. Very small, with a little bar and a kitchen. Bob the pianist would play there during the week. He owned it. He played like this and the chef cooked lasagne and burgers. This took me back :)

I love this especially for dinner music. Tonight was a garden salad and a nice warm bowl of ribollita soup, prime rib with green beans and sweet potato. No dessert tho coz we're stuffed. All cooked from scratch too!!

I can see that, but I can more hear it playing at a gathering of friends, with genuine, warm laughter in the background and the sounds of a great time happening. Not loud and obnoxious, but that joy and good time that only comes from the gathering of people who really want to be together and enjoy each others' company.

I used to listen to this video whenever I was studying for December final exams in college. Now I've graduated but I still listen to this while I read/bake/clean because I associate it with the season now. It brings back memories of warmth among friends & the anticipation of seeing family again after months away.

That is the only thing I miss about the snow. I'm from up north in Washington state but moved to southern California. I do not miss the snow except for this you describe. @@chelsea342 I never did, I thought it's my strength and just who I am. Until recently, some people around me seem to think that mellow = weak. They seem to equate my calmness with the inability to defend myself or give strong opinions. Especially because I'm a woman, some 'strong' women think I'm too gentle or chill to be considered a 'strong woman'. I don't like that thinking, but they love shoving it into my face unfortunately
