- Today on Chasing Legends of the Superstition Mountains, Wayne Tuttle discusses the Doc Thorne Story, and how the story has been discussed in relation to the Lost Dutchman.
The Superstition Mountains are located in Apache Junction, Arizona. Within the wilderness, the Lost Dutchman Mine has remained hidden, with up to $200 million in gold. Wayne Tuttle, Frank Augustine, Woody Wampler, Eric Deleel, and Eric Magnuson set out into the Superstition Mountains on History Channel’s Legend of the Superstition Mountains to search for the infamous gold mine in 2015. Growing restless waiting for a second season, Wayne and Frank decided to continue their search in the Superstition Mountains on UA-cam, filming videos of their treks into the mountains. The team now engages in treasure hunting and gold prospecting in the Superstition Mountains, searching for Ted DeGrazia’s lost paintings and investigating strange stories and mysteries of the Superstition Mountains.

I always look forward to chasing Legends. Thanks a whole bunch Wayne.
Your welcome
Thanks for the story.
Wayne you are a fountain of information, keep it coming...
Thank you
@@rvlifestylelivin you do keep quoting directly from Helen’s book though. You keep acting like I’m deleting your posts, but they are showing up under other peoples comments
Best video in a long time, Wayne. I agree, the Doc Thorne story has nothing to do with the Lost Dutchman. I'm still amazed at the Clay Worst interview where he claims Thorne filled up his long underpants with gold after the Indians guided him blindfolded through the mountains. I wonder where that piece of info came from.
The years of story telling. I’m sure Clay doesn’t even remember when or why he added it
@@rvlifestylelivin thanks again George.
Outstanding bro. Thank you very much! This is great!
Your welcome
@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 I was going to mention that iirc it's in the old Desert USA forums or somewhere that perhaps Joe Ribudou or someone else saying that there had never been a Doc Thorne in the employ of the US Army anywhere near the Supes but I don't remember off the top of my head. In any case it always threw me off how the stories were so intertwined and not accurate therby misleading folks unintentionally.
Really appreciate the effort to clear things up guys. Y'all stay cool!
@@DustyBradshaw I miss Joe.
@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 Yeah man, wish I could have met him. He was an absolute fount of knowledge and was so good on the forums, patient and kind. When I go back and read his contributions his patience with everyone was amazing. He'll never be replaced for sure. We've lost a lot of the great ones. They sure hooked me. Lol. Thank you all for keeping the torch burning with an honest flame guys.
I was going to ask you about this story and am glad you brought this up. Now that I know the facts about what really happened and there isn't a direct correlation to the Superstition mountains, I can write this one off. Thanks again Wayne for keeping the facts straight. You are a true asset to keeping the history on track. If only more people were like you, the world would be a better place.
I don’t know if the world needs more of me. One is probably enough. Lol
@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 true, but it would help if more people took the time to get the facts straight instead of lumping stories together just to pump up a legend that is already shrouded in mystery. That being said, I appreciate what you do with your no b.s. approach. That's why you're Wayne Tuttle and I'm not. Have a great day and try to stay cool in our pizza oven climate.
So when the group of 200 people went out with Jacob walts they were looking for the doc thorn wash? And they weren't looking for a mine at all?
That’s the story some tell.
Enjoyed the story.
Thank you
As usual, another very entertaining presentation Wayne. Great story and you are a great Storyteller!
Thank you
great video Wayne : the only reason i every research the Throne story was just the fact it was about a placer, and the wording he used ... there is a placer related to the Waltz mine ..and i do know where it is . but i still did not believe it had any thing to do with Thorne description a the placer he saw ... someone went to great effort to cover the Waltz placer , who knows Wayne i agree i turn 62 and i am feeling older every year ... stay safe stay free
I guess I see what George is doing. Literally posting in everyone’s comments. That sure is really mature and definitely cool. It also pushes the video. Thanks. That’s how the analytics work. The more comments, the better ranking and exposure. Carry on George.
Wayne, Not sure if this question is getting posted. I went back and looked to see if my comment came up below but, didn't see it. Sorry if there are multiple posts. You mentioned around 15:25 and 16:20 a medical surgeon by the name of Baxtion, Baxton, Baston.... Could you tell us more about that story? Thank you EDN
The correct name is Banta . J F Banta .
Wayne, what about the 200 people, Prescott, Phoenix and Wickenberg that went out hunting for Doc Thorns Gold? What were they doing. Did Milton Rose have a relative that went along as well? Was Jake Waltz there also?
Yes, no and maybe. People chase the wrong story pretty frequently.
@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 Every Legend of The Lost Dutchman must be answered with Yes, No and Maybe.
Much appreciate the story. You review a lot of books which is cool but when you going to review Wayne Tuttles book? Thx. Slowly working my way thru CL!
I will review here and now before it is written: it is a masterpiece and the alpha and omega of any and all lost Dutchman books.
I do believe tht. Again many thanks.
Always like your stories. Do you have any adventures that relate to Weeks wash.?? Thanks…..
Might be something. I’d have to let it come after thinking. Been through there plenty though.
Good to know the true story!
Hi Wayne!
Hey, Hey Dinger!!!!!
Do not know if you remember what episode or video this was in ?? Someone found a poking tommy mine candle holder. It was in good condition and marked with some mine or city. At any rate those exact candle holders were for sale as reproductions on E Bay. Think it may have said Comstock Mining Virginia? What are your thoughts-- does this ring a bell ? Always thought this was some kind of a "planted item" . Thanks
That’s an Eric Magnuson thing. I never saw it except after the fact. It’s one of the last couple of episodes I think. I believe I was up on a ridge above the guts when this happened.
We have A Lasseter reef out in the Australian outback somewhere, if this sparks interest, the " bush tucker man" Major Les Hiddens did a video on Lasseter Reef. Also an interesting video. lead me to your channel, totally enjoying the history aspects as well as the content. The subject is the cream . Research opens up so many tributaries related or 3 degrees of separation. 👍🇦🇺 🇺🇲 hello Wayne appreciate all your research
Thank you. I always think I would like the outback, probably not that different than here. Hot, no rain and everything there will bite, sting, prick and kill you
@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 I see why you have guns out your way , mountain lions bears wolves coyote all those things that eat you. We have dingos, snakes camels, water buffalo further north with huge crocodile. I would feel more protected with a hand gun on my belt for sure. Thanks again for your channel Wayne , appreciated
Have you ever thought of reading some of these books on youtube? Do like chapters at a time.
I’ll do the bark notes occasionally. But otherwise they are copyrighted
30 years ago I had a book by berry storm that had a picture of the lost dutchman map on the cover , can you help me out.
Storm released several books. Trail of the Dutchman was first and then thunder gods gold. He did several variations of Thunder gods gold. One was the lost bonanza. It has a map on the cover. I believe lost bonanza is just excerpts of Thunder gods gold. Some were just home made editions that were very limited.
Let's face it whenever a story is told and retold the story changes until you can't recognize it anymore. But that's a cool story
It’s always good to straighten things out
Well Wayne it got up to 100F here in missouri ozarks 🤪again nice video though
Have you ever found gold ,a vain of gold
Yes.
Very nice
And just what legends have you been chasing lately. Come on man. Get out there and find that gold. And rub it in our faces. But change addresses first. 😂
It’s 114 out. I’m chasing cooler weather right now
@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 Yeah, it's been hot even hear on Oklahoma. My jeep's thermometer was reading 116 F in the shade.
