Loving the tour of Wales guys. Sounds like the bus would enjoy a transmission oil change though, I bet the hills and mountains are giving it a good work out😀
Thanks Mike. Glad you’re with us for the journey. The Welsh mountains are 100% giving it a workout and it’s been an interesting first proper test. We did change the oil out before we left, mainly as second was a bit of a chore (synchro) which made a difference. This is what made the problem so weird, first thought was the oil had all leaked out somehow but it hasn’t. And we used the proper stuff from merc - which left us confused when it happened. We will be getting it checked for sure. Strange one.
Hi Rich not sure off the system on merc busses but it might have a hydrolic clutch slave cylinder instead off a conventional thrust bearing some have normal thrust bearing and a secondary cylinder on side off gearbox great vid Wales is beautiful all the best donny
Thanks Donny. This is interesting and we will look into it. Wales is stunning. We wish we had months to explore it. Thankfully it’s not far away 😊. Hope you’re adventures are going well 🚐🚐🚐
Well done guy’s, looks like you’ve had an amazing time in Wales, I’ve really enjoyed your videos, I love Wales such a beautiful place. I drove to Stourbridge in Birmingham yesterday to view my 2008 Mercedes Vario 613D and went for a little test drive. Can’t wait to get it back and start working on it, hopefully in about 3 weeks so I will be uploading regular videos hopefully on UA-cam, I’ve learnt quite a lot from your build, Kinging it and wondering home so I’m really excited and I’m sure there will be plenty of challenges along the way 😄
@@WanderbusAdventures it’s a minibus, I’ve uploaded a couple of videos on my channel as I went to view it yesterday as I brought it blind through an advert on marketplace so I wanted to check it out to see if it was mechanically and structurally sound before I parted with anymore money, fortunately it drove quite nice but could do with the restrictor being removed once I’ve changed the class on the logbook and put it through an mot
Ah brilliant. Will check that out. Ours doesn’t have a restrictor on it, it is useful to have some extra MPH but on the whole we keep it to around 55 anyway 😂
@@WanderbusAdventures it’s not the speed that was the problem, he said it wouldn’t rev beyond 2000 rpm so around town he was constantly going through the gearbox and once removed it would probably be easier and more efficient to drive. We will see in time hopefully
Thanks Martin. Fingers crossed with it for now but we have an eye on it. The clutch didn’t have as much travel but then seemed to correct itself. Wondering if we had some seepage or something odd on the master cylinder? Was advised to pump the clutch 10 times if it happens again to see if it is that. But not really sure. It was absolutely solid apart from fifth that could be forced in.
100%. Thanks Martin. We were parked on a bit of a slope. But wondered if it was a coincidence. But the more we think about it, the more we think it was clutch.
Thanks Ian. The gearbox is a strange one but it seems to have resolved itself for the time being. Really weird. Wondering if the incline we parked on caused some sort of clutch fluid issue or similar. Really strange but we will be keeping a keen eye on it.
Another beautiful quiet beach..Glad the gearbox sorted itself ..x
Thank you. Everyone touch wood 😊. But seems to be okay at the moment. It was a beautiful spot, would recommend x
Great to see you guys out on the road, hopefully with the gearbox running smoothly! 🤞
Thank you Andrew. Touch wood it has been okay, but we’ve got an eye on it 🔧
Great video again guys, we're sure you'll have the bus sorted in no time at all 🙂
Thanks guys. Who’d buy an old bus or van 👀
I have to say that I have not managed to get my mini into reverse yet so I feel your pain!
Oh no, is it a good ole project then? Liking this post for morale support

Had several commercial vehicles, worst on lorries when the gearbox is stone cold !
It was so strange Paul. Thankfully it could be pushed into 5th so we could get it moving at least.
Great vid as always guys loving these?
Thank you 😊. Glad you’re enjoying them. We hope you have a fab week and thanks as always for watching 🚐🚐

This sounds amazing. That’s really exciting. Is it a van or minibus?

Ah yes that sounds like a pain
Another great video. Beautiful views. Did you find the problem with the transmission
Thanks Kev. At the moment we haven’t found the issue but have some theories. Fingers crossed it was an isolated incident.
nice video !!!
Thank you 😊
Great to follow you along. Hope the gearbox behaves. Did the clutch pedal feel normal?

@@WanderbusAdventures definately clutch. Try not to put much force on the gearbox when trying to engage gears as it will damage the gearbox.

@@WanderbusAdventures maybe box needs an oil change?
We did one before we left. Am hoping we’ve not filled it with baby oil 😆
@@WanderbusAdventures ahhh ok. Hopefully a one off then.
We hope so 🤞
