I'm not perfect in english, but i will explain it clear as i can. The word 'Chapchar' means drying in the sun and Kút means festival. Chapchar Kut is a Spring Festival, a biggest festival in Mizoram. It's related to Jhumm Cultivation. It is used to be celebrated to thank God (Khuanu) for saving the people from harm and accident during the time of clearing the forest for seasional farming every year, Chapchar kut is like a Thanksgiving festival, It's held during the period of bamboo and trees that have been cut down and await to dry to be burnt for farming. During this time of drying, our ancestors were free from work to have time for themselves So, it is celebrated in the month of march- April (Summer) after clearing woods (Trees and bamboo) and before burning
I wish i could explain it more clearer than this. And i really wanna mention that Mizoram is not just a honking free State in india, it is also most peacefull state in india. Anyway, thanks for your reaction and lots of love from Bangalore.

Chapchar Kut literally means - a festival held during the period when the bamboos and trees that have been cut down are being awaited to dry to be burnt for jhumming. During this brief layoff period of jhumming, the Mizo ancestors could have all the time for themselves.

its the biggest festival (kut) in mizoram which is celebrated from way back when our ancestors were headhunters and before they were introduced to christianity , though many kut are long gone or forgotten chapcharkut became one of the last kut standing ..........
They were not headhunters, they were Avengers, Please, do not call them headhunters, headhunter hunts human for no reason, but Avengers defend the land and people, and take revenge at any cost.

I have live on Durtlang hills top of the mountain and large of grass it's my beautiful memories rest of my life every evening time i saw subset sometimes purple, pink, blue all i can't compliment. But now i stay Ragasthan .
