A week after being sworn in for another 6-years as President of Russia, Vladimir Putin is in China.
Arriving in Beijing on Thursday, Putin and his Chinese counterpart are expected to strengthen their "strategic partnership", as the West becomes increasingly concerned about threats such cooperation poses to security in Europe.

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing early on Thursday morning, to start his two-day state visit to China.
This marks Putin's first foreign trip after being sworn in for a fifth presidential term last week.
In an interview with China's Xinhua news agency, Putin highlighted that the relationship between the two countries has reached its "highest level ever", while praising his Chinese counterpart for helping to build a "strategic partnership."
During the visit, the two heads of state are expected to reaffirm their commitment to their "no limits" partnership declared in February of 2022, just days before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, which has now become the deadliest land war in Europe since World War Two.
Not only has China refused to condemn the war in Ukraine, but with increasing sanctions from the United States and its ally states, Russia has become more dependent on China, making the two countries the most powerful geopolitical rivals of the U.S.
Western states believe that while China may not be directly selling arms to Russia, it is exporting key technology and components that significantly bolster defense capabilities for the war to continue, which U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said was helping fuel the threat to European security.
Putin's state visit to Beijing follows a visit by Blinken last month, when he warned China's top diplomat Wang Yi against deepening military support for Russia,
and also follows a trip by Xi to Europe last week where he met with the French president and the EU Commission chief, and was pressed to use his influence on Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
