my teacher told one of the trombones to play the flute part bro 😭 unfortunately, that means he sits right near the flutes. drowns us and the clarinets out and he's the best trombone in 8th grade, but that doesnt mean he's good at it 💀 he complains a lot bc he doesn't get his way
Every middle schooler or high schooler has laid eyes on this piece. And what a magnificent composure. I never got to perform it with my group due to covid. But it was a memorable rehearsal. ✌️
I was supposed to play this piece and 2 other songs for the *essentially* the whole county, but the day of it got cancelled because of covid. That was my sophomore year.
Yes played it in High School 2014 best song ever !!! Still sounds amazing it’s such a good piece the bells sounds just like the actual train I love it lol
Bro I played this at band camp for going into middle school lemme tell you something playing this as a clarinetist and only having eighth notes throughout the whole thing is so hard with the temp! But love it! ❤❤❤
i remember getting a trumpet solo on this song, it was the first time i felt like i was finally getting good at playing :) this song brings back so many good memories...
dude!! I used to be the only horn but then my friend switched, but she is still learning so I'm gonna automatically get the solo but hey you're gonna do great!
pray for me yall i got this for my christmas concert, and its my first solo event though im in my 3rd year of band because i dont want to compete with my other horns
Same, our band is going to play this and when I looked at the sheet music for flute I felt like I wanted to kill myself because it looked difficult ;-;
1:40 if you got this as bass clarinet in middle school it probaly felt really hard because you got really easy pieces for the rest 2:17 I play bass clarinet and the rest of my band besides the trumpets and trombones suck so I have to keep the band together here, also measure 69, nice, c'mon I just had to
I played this in my freshman year as a clarinet player. IT WAS TORTURE AND MY GOD IT WAS NOT THIS FAST. IT WAS SLOWER. I WOULD'VE DIED IF MY BAND DID THIS
I played this with a combined band 2 weeks ago. My band director was surprised that we could play it up to speed. Im also playing this in our spring concert in May.
I played this for my spring concert in 7th grade got reeeaaally jealous when our 8th grade section leader got snare and not me (second chair) but break drum was still fun
Grades for music are different then actual school grades. Let’s say The Great Locomotive Chase is a grade 3, the song wouldn’t be actually played by 3rd graders. The Great Locomotive Chase is actually a Ninth Grade level song.
Im getting ready to play this with my high school band. I play bass clarinet. I love this. This song is one of my favorites that we have ever done. I love it and the history behind the song.
I'm a pretty new percussionist (2nd year) and I just got this piece for festival season. I was given the keyboard parts. Time to learn 4 mallet technique
It’s always us, always getting left out, all the directors say tuba is the most important sound and we’re the bass of the band but we always get cut or get left off like, weren’t we the most important sound💀
PLEASE tell me if you can relate but having to maintain a tempo while the snare has an accelerando is one of the hardest things I’ve ever tried to do because I have that musical mindset to keep the same tempo as everyone else

As a trombonist, my band teacher directly told me and the rest of our section to make the glissandos "as nasty and out of tune as possbile"
Same man. Our teacher said play so chaotic to the point where is sounded like a total mess

i played too, it’s not that fast
Yessir I agree with you I as well played the snare for this piece and it is mighty fast!

I thought there was only 1&2-?
Came to listen to this because I'm playing snare for my student led band currently crying
PLAYING SNARE TOO ACTUALLY INSANW
I played suspended cymbal, brake drum , AND cabasa and it was so chaotic and I accidentally dropped the cabasa on stage at UIL
It irks me that the clarinets are soooo soft. They need to be louder. That’s what is the “music” piece. Everything else is the sound of a train.

if they were any louder, it would song more like music, and lose it's train effect
