Because of cherry picking. Democrats talk like a crime has been committed when none have, but because they are so accusatory it sounds like there's something to it. This is what happens when Americans don't just watch C-SPAN directly instead of letting news cherry pick the statements that support their agenda.
The current investigation is to determine whether or not our President deliberately attempted to obstruct the (still-ongoing) investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Obstruction of justice _is_ a crime; the investigation is to see if there is enough evidence to actually bring charges. Note that no-one is officially accusing anyone of any crime at this time. If they were, then we'd be having a trial, not an investigation. Not trying to take sides here; I just want to make sure we're all on the same page.
