  • Chemical Reactions & Equations | Types Of Reactions | Class 10 Science | Exothermic Vs Endothermic Reactions.
In this video we have discussed about -
Exothermic Reactions - Exothermic reactions are chemical reactions that release energy, usually in the form of heat, to their surroundings. This release of energy occurs because the energy required to break the bonds in the reactants is less than the energy released when new bonds are formed in the products.
Energy Changes: In exothermic reactions, the temperature of the surroundings increases as energy is released. This is why these reactions are often warm or hot to the touch.
Endothermic Reactions - Endothermic reactions are chemical reactions that absorb energy from their surroundings. This absorption of energy occurs because the energy required to break the bonds in the reactants is greater than the energy released when new bonds are formed in the products.
Energy Absorption: In endothermic reactions, the temperature of the surroundings decreases as energy is absorbed. This is why these reactions often feel cold to the touch.
    Types of Reactions -
1- Combination Reactions - Combination reactions involve two or more reactants combining to form a single product. These reactions are also known as synthesis reactions.
2 - Decomposition Reactions - Decomposition reactions involve a single compound breaking down into two or more simpler substances. These reactions are the opposite of combination reactions.
    Types of Decomposition -
Thermal Decomposition : Breakdown of compounds by heat.
Electrolytic Decomposition : Breakdown of compounds by electric current.
Photolytic Decomposition : Breakdown of compounds by light.
3 - Displacement Reactions - Displacement reactions occur when one element displaces another in a compound. In these reactions, a more reactive element displaces a less reactive one from its compound.
4 - Double Displacement Reactions - Double displacement reactions involve the exchange of ions between two compounds to form new compounds. These reactions are also known as metathesis reactions.
