RE: archive TV, the BBC (and presumably other companies) destroyed or overwrote their tapes up til the 70s or 80s because they had absolutely no idea that home media was gonna happen. Well that and the tape was freakin expensive. That's why for these things they have to rely on collectors. This makes it quite frustrating to be a really sad nerdy fan of things like Doctor Who :)
13:17 haha, watching Trott try to explain this scene while Ross talks about characters kissing and Smith just isn't listening was way more entertaining to me than it probably should have been, love Trott just giving up in the middle "I'm done" XD
If you're referring to the scene where Elrond heals Frodo and appears in a dream bubble, Trott, then you're mistaken because that scene is and will always be _glorious_
At 11:55 or so, they talk about hiring a "laugh actor." The funniest part of this? Some shows actually DO hire these people! 😂 Anything you've ever watched that was recorded in front of a live studio audience in the past 20 years has had at least 3 actors in the crowd (paid at a very low rate) whose sole job is to laugh loudly at the right beats, begin clapping at the right time, and all the other usual audience reactions. It's a well known sociological phenomenon that will trigger everyone else in the crowd to mimic the reaction. It's even commonly used by politicians when they hold speaking events.
Speaking of higher refresh rates. You guys thinking of maybe bumping up your video resolutions. 4k would be ideal but at least 1440p or something would be welcome.
The TV channels actually didn't keep reels and reels of footage. Produced segments are of course stored, but stuff like ad breaks and musical interludes and stuff isn't stored anywhere. These days everything is probably saved somewhere. 1 day of TV isn't _that_ much data in the grand scheme of things. Hard drives are big now. You can find hours of 90s MTV on youtube with all the ads and stuff included so you can get a real sense of that era. It's cool getting all the context.
Additionally old film is both terribly fragile and hugely flammable so a lot of old stuff has either been ruined by age or burned up and there have been A LOT of film fires
@@MNewton Yeah, very true. It's super sad to think that like 6 years ago, TONS of old recordings went up in flames when a storage facility just burned to the ground. So much art lost forever. We should be better at preserving the past for future generations.
It took the Hat Bois 7 minutes andto say something questionable today. Today's questionable comment was by Ross and the Hat boys were playing Worms. The current average is 2 minutes and 40 seconds. I will post this on every video unless I forget.
I can't watch anything VOD in 1080p due to low quality internet connection. I'm glad UA-cam still keeps 720p as an option (for both VOD and streams) and Twitch does too. And let me tell you, some days I have to watch on 480p because even on 720 it will have hiccups.
I did the math; if you boiks started watching eastenders from episode 1 today, you would be finished in 20 weeks from now, assuming you watch 24 hours per day, 7 days a week 😂
So I'm bored and thinking about which lotr actors were known by the general public before: - Christopher Lee obviously - Sean Bean (but did the he-always-dies-meme come before or after the movies?) - Bernard Hill was in Titanic - John Rhys-Davies was in Indiana Jones - Ian Holm was in Alien - Brad Dourif was in the asylum patients on a tour film - Elijah Wood & Sean Astin were child stars - Hugo Weaving was in Matrix - Cate Blanchett was in Elizabeth - Liv Tyler was in Armageddon, and of course she's the daughter of an infamous rockstar I can't think of well known films for the rest of the cast, or maybe I'm forgetting something super obvious...
If you love a movie/game/series then try to get a physical version if possible because companies don’t care for preservation They don’t see these media forms as art that should be preserved but rather “product” that should be “binned” when it doesn’t make enough money just to save on digital storage and whatever licensing fees they might have needed to pay
Sadly i doubt that even physical games will work anymore w/o the servers/service, considering how much DRM and day 1 patches physical games today have. I remember getting RDR2 for a new PS4, and the amount of crap that is need to do to just play the f*ing game is insane.
@@antaLord I understand your concern, games should be playable even without any wifi/servers/service, but us fans of games physical copies are more likely to survive that digital versions And at the end of the day it is the fans who provide downloads of games/films/series that companies don’t provide because all they care about is “will it make significant amount of profit”
Why are they still so terrible at the basic mechanics of Worms, even the chosen one Smith who somehow manages to learn where the others don't wasn't great on this match.

there was also multiple big fires at some studios that destroyed a bunch of the originals!
It’s such a shame how much doctor who is lost
@@Emperorhirohito19272 i thought it was just a couple of episodes?

Yeah, it is a real shame! Some of my favourite early stories I've had to watch as photo reconstructions with just the audio surviving

"He fell. He did genuinely fell my lady" had me in stiches
I love that in the hazy wake up scene with Frodo at the end he seems to forget Legolas name and just awkward smiles 🤣
Well that's because they never exchange a single word in the movies. He has no idea who he is.
I know but they did walk together for awhile before being Separated so i imagine he should have a mild memory xD @@Banette87

That's true torture, watching eastenders from ep1 would be 6 months of straight 24/7 eastenders, 6800 episodes
Speaking of higher refresh rates. You guys thinking of maybe bumping up your video resolutions. 4k would be ideal but at least 1440p or something would be welcome.
17:00 Good Fellas but the cast is The Muppets
Ross attacking the Food Bin brings back some *_vivd_* old Hat Films memories.
Fuggin Smith just straight up calling me out for not listening at 200% volume

I love that half for half the game, Smith just tossed gremades into the water
He spent the other half collaterally damaging his own worms

I feel like everyone was a winner this episode. Nobody did a catastrophic error and killed himself.
Hotel Rwanda + cheaper by the dozen
My choice of film combo
Speaking of bad internet, when I'm at home I have to watch videos in 480p nevermind 720p because the Internet is not fast enough
yes its back

Ian McKellen?
Wow its my favourite people
I could actually see Elmo as Hannibal.

Lion King 2 + Schindler's List.

lol 10:58 what a corny joke...hilarious though
Trott mightve won had he used the satellite to delete the land under ross
Non-canon round
Is there a HF hoodie for 2023/2024?
they dissin on people do play 4k, they don't play in even 1440
Is the sync slightly off, felt some of ross' reactions were ahead of the gameplay
We're watching Trott's POV, so on Ross' screen, he sees his moves slightly before we do because of the latency
What an underwhelming win.

4K was available on monitors years before it became "TV consumer"

I definitely think AI films will be a thing. You can already see the technology in use, so it's just a matter of it getting better.
Why are they still so terrible at the basic mechanics of Worms, even the chosen one Smith who somehow manages to learn where the others don't wasn't great on this match.
Because they are maily focused on talking in this episode, not playing the game optimally.
theres no point going past 4k... we physically dont have enough LIGHT READING CELLS IN OUR EYE BALLS to see every point of light on 4K TVS
