The thing that immediately jumped out to me from this track and the album is that he is actually speaking up for idols and questioning the system. He said he left the smoking scenes in the m/v to show how idols get criticised for things like smoking/vaping, dating etc that are normal for the rest of the world. I mean an idol can stand next to someone which is enough to launch a war of hate! And most of these idols are adults, over 21, or even in their 30's! How idols have to be perfect and smiling 24/7 while there is sadness and trauma underneath. And we know all too well the consequences if this is not dealt with. He even made the whole track Snooze hoping that idols are comforted by it. Just watch Suchwita when younger idols are on there, he tells them they are great, they are doing well, he understands what they go through etc. So Yoongi is not dissing other groups, he is actually supporting idols.💜
Just like Daechwita, it's a song that criticize people in general. But if certain people feels that it's a song that criticize them, well... then, that's their own problem.
The years in BTS has made the boys realize the importance and influence of messages. Both Jimin and Yoongi are raw and naked in their solo albums. They tell stories close to their hearts, about themselves and their life. That makes both these albums unique, relatable and significant. They are paving new roads for the music industry.
Steve Aoki recently stated that Suga is a musical genius. He is correct. Congratulations to Suga, who is now the first rapper in history to sell 1+ million copies of an album in 24 hours. WOW! 💜
Every cypher has been putting haters on blast. This isn’t much different. He will say what he feels. If the shoe fits, the haters will wear it. He’s also specifically said he sets traps in his lyrics. He doesn’t call anyone out “specifically” and yet, it causes one to check themselves. Analyze it more and make sure to read the interviews regarding Agust D. No disrespect. It’s just that Agust D persona is exactly that. He doesn’t hold back.
My field of study was philosophy, class of 1992 -- a proud, older Asian American Suga fan. Your analysis and commentary is fantastic and could easily be a contemporary round-table seminar subject. You leave the door open to interpretation while hitting marks that make us think not just about his amazing art, but how it applies to everyone in these unsettled times. Is free will really free? Are we buying in when we think we are rebelling? Excellent vid. Thank you.
Yes, SUGA/Agust D/Min Yoongi is/are brilliant. I love music that has depth and thought - everything Yoongi word fits that mold. He is a musical genius and the album is a masterpiece. 💜
The entire album is great but I am obsessed with Haegeum and Amygdala. I really happy with the entire trilogy but most importantly with the cleansing effect it appears to have had on Suga.
agree totally with that and add Snooze to that for my top 3. mind you each song is a masterpiece in and of itself so the beauty is my top 3 can change depending on how i'm feeling at any given moment! hehehe.... as an older army (from Australia, but then it doesn't matter where i'm from, we're all in this together for life anyway...) i found myself nodding sagely to many points being made and even laughed to myself when i said out loud 'perhaps' a second or two before having it confirmed i was right... hehehe.... our Suga/Agust D is the ultimate onion - with layers to 'infinity and beyond'... when you think you've worked the song out, worked the messages out.... take a step back, and on a further run through you discover oh so much more than you ever imagined! this discussion on Haegeum was so thought provoking and insightful and i thank you Fairlane for this amazing introduction to your channel!
Great video. Thank you for that. I watched Haegeum MV multiple times. Some references I catch up quickly but I learn some new things from you. I definitely will share this video on twt
Great insight, as always!! Ignoring the naysayers, this is the evolution and criticism that many artists/performers have struggled to achieve or emulate within the span of a decade in their careers. It's a more complex self-exploration post-MOTS Persona/7 era (dare I say a depiction of what therapy and healing process may look like for a person). The fact that Yoongi and his fans are able to address Suga and Agust D as persona or different sides already breaks the screen barrier that a person can only be just one thing. It alleviates him and us from some mental pressure. He comfortably walks back and forth between him being a part of a group, the individual as a producer, the side that carries weight from the past, and who knows what else is there. He's a reserved personality who prefers to work in the studio but he can also be outgoing through interviews and taking the roles of ambassadors for different brands. People who are forced to conform will look at his works from an aspirational angle, so it begs the question for those who feel like being targeted by Agust D: is it okay to succumb to the system? Is it acceptable that our faves are only what their company wants or everybody imagines them to be?
Correct, I completely agree with you. People have to stop pigeon holing people and that includes artists. Every individual is made up of many sides, no one fits completely into one single box. Humans are not one dimensional characters.. we all have many different facets to our personalities.
Excellent introduction. It's a extremely good discussion that Suga it's about thinking about a subject from as many perceptives as possible noting the good and bad points. It's a Discussion if you will and he does it so well. People have a tendency to grab onto certain words or phrases and run with just that rather than listen to something in it's entirety especially with more complex subject matter. People forget to thing content, context, sub context etc etc. When we are taught to read the classic's we look at subject, context and sub context, use of language, how to compare and contrast. This art is being lost as it's not taught and studied as it once was in essence everything is being dumbed down for a common Denominators and 'sound bites'.
#MINYOONGI is a musical GENIUS 💎 🌟Congratulations on being the 1st Rapper in History to SELL 1 Million+ Albums on the 1st day of RELEASE 🔥🎉CONGRATULATIONS #SUGA👑
Excellent. Thank you, my mind is quite aged and I miss some obvious symbolism. With your explanation I am now able to appreciate fully the genius of Suga.
I have only come to know about BTS since the last Grammys curious to know why they didn't win. Ever since then, I have been a sponge learning more and more of their songs and their story. I have 2 biases - Jimin and V. Not being much into rap, I admit I love all the songs where rap is featured. Over the last couple of weeks, I have come to really appreciate Suga and his genius! Thank you for your videos because you teach me so much! But I am especially thankful for your deep interpretation of Haegeum which blows my mind that Suga is such a beautiful philosopher as well as a musical talent. All of the guys have impressed me and I am only sad that I only came to know about them just in time for their hiatus! I am looking forward to their reunion in 2025 and hope they all return as mature men more aware of themselves and their storytelling and art through their music and whatever else they want to do whether it is acting, or some other creativity. Again, thank you for your videos!
..SAME! I got to know BTS as a group… eventually appreciating the Rap line more & more… as I also got to know more a out their full musical back.. SUGA touched me!!! His genius talent to write beats, compose melodies, write lyrics, rap lyrics… his musical talent is AMAZING!! His music is STUNNING & EMOTIONAL🌟💎…I’m happy he is part of BTS…& now venturing out to express his SOLO MUSIC!👑💜
I am in the same boat: a little late to the BTS party, but oh so glad I found my way here! We can’t be too sad for what wasn’t on our radar sooner, perhaps, as the famous quote says, “when the student is READY, the teacher comes!” I had zero interest in rap or K-Pop in general until BTS hit me upside my 66yo head with “Dynamite.” I became Army while trying to learn the members names! The rabbit hole opened and I gladly jumped in and fell fast and hard! They have turned me into a rap lover who has plopped down serious $$$ to go see Suga/Agust D/ Min Yoongi 😻 when he plays Los Angeles in a few weeks, and I’m having some of the best times of my life discovering their MVs, soc med content, and extensive discography. They (as a group and as individuals) bring me happiness every day! My grown kids are amused “Who are you and what have you done with our mom???”😂 1 daughter has become Army and both are coming to the concert with me!
I discovered BTS after hearing JK sing Dreamers at the World Cup and was also very sad that they had gone on hiatus. I couldn't understand why such a popular group doing sold out shows in the US was never played on radio. Apparently the same reason they didn't win a Grammy and are being manipulated by BB. I"m glad they are willing to play by their own rules and that they have a fanbase that totally supports that independence. It seems like I discover one song, get hooked, then hear another and get hooked on that one and it has been a fun process of discovery. The melodies and beats are intriguing and then I discover the lyrics and am surprised again by the depth to many of their songs. They are experiencing a lot during these two years so it will be interesting to see what it is like to come back together again in 2025.
Whenever I see performative outrage, it makes me wonder what personal guilt makes them react thus. My mom always said that you shouldn't waste energy being offended if you know the slings don't apply to you. The other side of this seems to be that you feel called out because you know the stings do apply to you.
These haters are people who flourish on drama, expecting everybody to attend their little performance. Just because they create drama does not mean we must attend their lame performance. It just shows their ignorance and how thick they are in the skull, not understanding Haegeum ( love that song,) he is exactly addressing today's social issues.
Those antis did same with jhope and jimin......in jhope song more there is a line about grammy and haters are just making fun about that line by saying BTS didn't win a grammy yet and with jimin song set me free part 2 they just pick out a line and start criticize him even saying so bad things about him without knowing what song is about why he wrote that song and whom he want to refer and now with haegeum...why antis think he is talking about xyz group......he is talking about a society problem in general he is not targetting anyone still those antis twist the words and making a big deal about that and even saying that smoking scene shouldn't be included in the video 😅😅😅😅😅 I mean what they want the mv with showing off money and expensive cars I'm not saying I hate this kind of music videos ofcourse it depends on song or lyrics how should a music video be created.... I really like the song haegeum and the mv is just too good the way he wrote that lyrics and the way he portrays everything in mv is just amazing ...... Those antis are just so annoying they don't miss a single chance to drag them down I hope they understand these things and just stop doing it 😅😅😅😅
You could argue Daechwita is naive, by killing the king you get rid of the tyranny. Haegeum shows nothing changes only a new power substituting the old (a sad reality). Amygdala gives a kind of solution. Only by confronting yourself with your traumata (a very painful process) and finally putting it back to were it belongs (memory), but keeping the knowledge, do you have the chance as individual and society to overcome the trap of naivety and despair (nothing changes). Ofc this is a long, difficult and ongoing process, but the only one leading forward.
Yoongi is going through a lot right now with his dads illness him and his family are going through so much the mv for AmyGadala is a very sad song I cried herring it as the words hit me really hard.
@@OurSunshineLixie And there is my problem: When? When was the diagnosis - because when he talks about it it doesn't seem new - it seems to be an old wound - possibly years ago. At the moment he seems to be resolved and at peace with himself which - probably - wouldn't be true if it was a "now" concern. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I like your analysis...but amygdala MV does change how I look at this video,..I hope you will be making a video on that and the connection to daechwita and Haegeum!
I do agree with you Suga’s song is a beautiful piece of work with so much depth and do appreciate your explanations at every level . There are so many things I did not notice or fully grasp till you pointed it out. Look forward to your reactions to his other songs as well .
I can relate with your analysis completely. I have commented on various platforms and channels that the powers that be are the same under a different guise. The systems of authority in politics, government, and corporations are the chaebol of 1,000 yrs. ago, to put in Korean terminology. The same rings true throughout the world with this idea. It is a vicious circle that we participate in whether you are pro or con. That in itself speaks volumes to our circumstance of really not being free of the far reaching, never ending, invisible tentacles of the monsters and their very well thought out plans of our participation while remaining imprisoned. The disillusionment is the illusion and vice versa. Suga and Agust D are inseparable is just the simplest meaning of his absolute genius. All of BTS are on another level compared to all genres and their lack of substance and artistry. Almost all of their content is deep and up for interpretation. They are like onions. The more layers you peel, the stronger the fumes, the sweeter the taste .What is sad is that most , as you stated, do not want to dig deep.. It would shatter their ideal existance of what an idol group should and mostly do represent- simple self indulgence that resonates with the popular music culture. To me they are living legends and pop icons like never seen before in past or future generations. They are the full package and much, much more.. Their influence on the music industry standards will resonate eternal whether or not the powers that be stay in denial and ignorance... or both! These individuL artist men called Bangtan are sooo special it is hard to categorize the brilliance, super stardom, inspiring message of love, global influence on all markets and true humility of each of their characters. There seems to be no word. It's a juxtaposition at best but a wonderful one! Thank you for the insights and I will share this video as it is a topic of passionate proportions for me! Ty again! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
🌺💖💖💖🌺 Thank you for this video. It's a very in depth analysis that for sure would enlighten listeners and maybe, would even appreciate Suga's complex talent and personality. Love to watch your and listen to your point of views on BTS and Asian artists. 👍💖💖💖🌺
Thank you for your reaction analysis. I agree it didn't seem like Suga is asking for a rebellion as much as philosophizing that those who overthrow corrupted power become that corrupted power. I really liked the part you said about the need to feed ourselves. Did you notice that Suga came back with what appears to be Agust D 's suit? Saying he now embodies both. This video actually showed how well educated Suga is. This same outlook on life as played out in stories and history.
I always love the depth of your analysis. It adds to my own thoughts and clarifies things I may not be as familiar with. As each member redebuts as soloists, we are exposed to even more of their individual genius, both musically and philosophically. I'm sad to see AgustD leave us, but I'm looking forward to Yoongi's brilliance when OT7 reconvenes.
I must say that you explain it very well What Suga wanted to tell the world What going on in our Society and understand the true meaning of Heageum in the song Suga is a genius, brilliant song writer composer, singer, rapper and artist
King Agust D was a tyrant who ruled. Amygdala tells us that he became the Tyrant after all the struggle he went through ie; his accident, his father's cancer, his mother's heart surgery. He had to become this strong, untouchable king, but in his rule, in him being the best he became ruthless only caring about money and being on top and being the best. He was too greedy.(As he states in Shadow) Enter Commoner Agust D. A newer version of him, one who still wants the money and the power thinking his old self doesn't deserve it, but he still has the scar of his many traumas, so even when he does win the favor of the people, it's to ultimately get what he wants, the power. He's still greedy. He still hasn't learned or healed. In Haegeum, Agust D is still reigning Supreme. He has the money and power, but he's corrupt. So now Yoongi, the common thug has to take him down once and for all. But this time, there is no scar because he's killing the Ego, his new healed self is coming to take his power back. He takes it not selfishly, but to show that his old greedy self did not deserve the money. He doesn't even care about it anymore but he'd rather have it then his old corrupt self. So he burns it. But his ego hates it, so now he has to kill that part of him that won't stop being greedy and selfish. And he finally does freeing himself becoming himself and no longer needing to hide under a tough persona. He's Yoongi again.
I love how you explain the music and the video because as usual haters will hate without trying to understand where the artist is coming from or what he is doing most people don’t real art of music they are so use to the everyday crazy about love and sex but still we are a nation full of hate thank you again and Suga keep doing your thing
Thank you for explaining what this intentions were. I also think it is true about no imagination now a days. People don't think for themselves they follow. This is my opinion
I fell in love w Suga’s music bc of these videos. I love his way of creating characters. He says he isn’t an actor but I disagree. I am not understand his words but I get the emotions.
I did not get What was the line that have raised controversy. Also I can't see any controversy anywhere (I'm happy in a non-hater bubble) so I'm doubly confused :/
It was the "slaves to capitalism" and "slaves to youtube" lines that got him hate on twitter. For some reason, blinks thought the youtube line was about blackpink?? While the rest of kpop twitter only saw that capitalism quote and were ranting about how it's hypocritical for him to be a millionaire and criticise capitalism... As if he wasn't including himself in the critique...?
@@user-mc3qv4pw1p Ah, yes Thank You! Well If one doesn't know how AgustD is.. It is kinda understandable to make that mistake about those lines.. World is full of hypocrites. Agust D might be savage to others, but he keeps the same measure against himself! 😼😻
Suga in the bathtub references Tony Montana in the film Scarface. While Montana dies in the tub, Suga survives and kills the other version of himself. I loved that part the whole music video was good I like it very much for the video. I didn't know all of this in full detail .very interesting.
I disagree on a few points The police officer is the crime boss Suga is working with his gang If you notice the man on the phone reporting the crime, Suga nods to him as he's walking out. At the end, he's the one who provided the gun that killed the PO/crime boss.
Of course ,normal that now people will be bubbling about that he dissed certain kpop group like wtf? He rap about everyone me,you etc... But ,I can understand that part "slaves to youtube" is hitting hard for faves of groups who rely on yt really gosh...
What about this was click baiting? She's explaining some ppl accepted a shallow understanding of the song and thought he was dissing another group... I'm still not sure where in the song that was implied.... but her analysis was great! Suga/Agust D definitely gives us something to ponder on
The thing that immediately jumped out to me from this track and the album is that he is actually speaking up for idols and questioning the system.
He said he left the smoking scenes in the m/v to show how idols get criticised for things like smoking/vaping, dating etc that are normal for the rest of the world. Why people pinpointed themselves, goodness knows. As far as I know he criticized everyone including us and himself.
He did say he’s only setting traps, the cockroaches will show themselves 😂
Only himself not anyone else Yoongi doesn't diss people he isn't like that

I like your analysis...but amygdala MV does change how I look at this video,..I hope you will be making a video on that and the connection to daechwita and Haegeum!
I do agree with you Suga’s song is a beautiful piece of work with so much depth and do appreciate your explanations at every level . There are so many things I did not notice or fully grasp till you pointed it out. Look forward to your reactions to his other songs as well .
you went off in the intro lmaoo
Ty again! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Always enjoy your posts!
🌺💖💖💖🌺
Thank you for this video. It's a very in depth analysis that for sure would enlighten listeners and maybe, would even appreciate Suga's complex talent and personality. Love to watch your and listen to your point of views on BTS and Asian artists. 👍💖💖💖🌺
great insights!
❤thank you I’m enjoying the wisdom they each hold💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜….!!!!
Substance not trash 💯 preach !!! Suga and BTS they are really profound they have the substance and good heart!!
It's sad that people don't know or understand that this reality and this is how some people view others and don't understand anything
Very well explained! THANK YOU.....👏👏👏
Loved your video. Could you do a breakdown of AMYGDALA
Thank you so much for your excellent insights, my heart soared with absolute joy in hearing your breakdown for this brilliant genius man.
Thank you 💜
Thank you so much!
Oh, yes. Someone finally said it!
very well said!! 🌟🌟🌟
so good, agree with all !! thank you
yoongi is a king 💅💜
Love that intro tho 💜💜💜
Suga in the bathtub references Tony Montana in the film Scarface. While Montana dies in the tub, Suga survives and kills the other version of himself. I loved that part the whole music video was good I like it very much for the video. I didn't know all of this in full detail .very interesting.
Agree 💯👍💜💜💜
I didn't realize he was playing a cop. I thought he was a mafia boss or something like that. Was this cop corrupt?
yup!
Corrupt cop he's in power and power corrupts.
I disagree on a few points
The police officer is the crime boss
Suga is working with his gang
If you notice the man on the phone reporting the crime, Suga nods to him as he's walking out.
At the end, he's the one who provided the gun that killed the PO/crime boss.
Thank you thank you thank yoy
Of course ,normal that now people will be bubbling about that he dissed certain kpop group like wtf?
He rap about everyone me,you etc...
But ,I can understand that part "slaves to youtube" is hitting hard for faves of groups who rely on yt really gosh...
Genius
Sugh love you all
Oh god, please no more click bait using BTS or any of the boys. It's getting pathetic. Let the man do his music in peace.
What about this was click baiting? She's explaining some ppl accepted a shallow understanding of the song and thought he was dissing another group... I'm still not sure where in the song that was implied.... but her analysis was great! Suga/Agust D definitely gives us something to ponder on
This isn’t click baiting, she’s doing exactly what was offered. Anti.
