I always wondered why MM won... but then I saw this version of the battle and saw the categories and that there was only a 3 mark margin between them and it all made sense. This is one of my favourite battles-I've been watching it since I was 13-and both of the crews deserve victory in my eyes. Bboying at it's finest here.
Twixx wasn't at the US qualifier, but he was really key to MM winning the world final. He was so dynamic and clean in execution the whole jam scoring 5's and 4's in both categories. And he is such an intimidating bboy for opposing crews. MM was smart. They understood the key to winning was using routines (like Jinjo) so you can have Thesis, Jeromeskee and Twixx out there as much as possible. Jinjo should've had Wing come out more. He is their ace in the hole.
In my opinion, both Thesis and Wing are probably one of the top bboys in the world. Its not easy to judge both bboys when they have their own originality and style. They both deserve the same amount of respect as well as the rest of the bboying community.
wing got the highest score from these match..musicality/foundation 3, originality 5, dynamics 5, execution 5, battle strategy 5.. IDK why born only scored 3 points to this set.. honestly this is the best set i've ever seen from Jinjo
You don't see MM a lot because they aren't as active as other international crews. It's pretty hard for crews in the US to actually get a large squad together for events like UK, BOTY, and R16. That's why you see them enter 2 v2 and 3 v3s more. It's not that they DON'T win. It's cause they don't have the time to prepare for big events.
I would love to see the O.U.R. System used in Red Bull B.C. One in the future. It would shed some light on who is a well balanced bboy and it would convince me that the event is not entirely about the sport but also the dancing aspect of it. I think the casual viewers would start to understand what bboying is and that it is no just about the dynamics.
Most of you people need to stop hating. Seems like a lot of you forgot that the "R" in R16 stands for respect. Just enjoy the competition and give respect and props to the crews who entered, the judges. Honestly? I think most of the e-boys here are just favoring for Jinjo because they are the top at the moment. They aren't the only good crew, you know what i'm saying? If you think you can judge better than the judges in R16 then you are dead wrong. Peace, Love, Respect from the East Coast.
Griff 798 139 to 142 . the dynamic was a tie the execution goes to Jinjo and the rest goes to massive monkees . R16 OUR judging system is really good and fair . i think this system should apply to all others Bboy event.
the o.u.r judging system is a step up. my only complaint is that it seems to have taken away from the crew aspect alittle and moved the dynamic of a battle to more solo skills.
If they are the ones who started it, it does not mean everyone is a constant slave to their opinion. They do not direct where bboying will go, and it definitely does not mean that they are always right in their decision. You are generalizing and over-dramatizing it all. Yes, they've contributed a lot to the scene, but they are not responsible for its entire evolution. Bboying was always changing, and part of being an experienced dancer would also mean to accept the changes in the dance.
Oh hell yeah, that needs to happen for sure; I didn't realize their style was so similar until I saw this battle. When they both get turned up, their complexity along with the execution goes way up.
OMFG Thesis can push any team over the top, his 1st was insane. This battle was far to crazy, both teams came with so much style and energy. Battle truly could have went either way best battle of the year for me!
This is an honest question because I'm fairly new to all of this: what's the point of a team battle if they're not supposed to do routines? Bboys stock moves up all the time to bust out in battles. Just how much of it is truly improv?
If you didn't know, that guy is a star in Korea. I'm not saying he had anything to do with the outcome but I'm not ruling it out either. It could be something as small as maybe him being there, could of made the judges favor Massive Monkees more. Or it could even be something to give Jay Park and his hometown crews publicity. For example the media loves this kind of stuff and it gives them something to talk about to the press. I never said this was a fact so some of you need to stop trippin
I have NO idea, why you're being thumbed down so much. This is the exact reasoning the OGs even gave to Jinjo when they lost Fluido. You may not 'like' it, but too many routines is a bad thing. You need to find a balance between routines and solo rounds. All solos, you might as well be cyphering, and all routines, you might as well be performing.
I love how people give you thumbs up when you have no videos nor evidence of you bboying. These judges are all Legends and have given more than what is asked of anyone in HipHop to the community. They are all giants when it comes to breaking so if you think you could have judged this better why don't you go find all of their e-mails and tell them so instead of putting it on here and trying to spread hate. None of these judges deserve that at all.
Michael Niven because it wasn't nearly as fresh... jinjo wasn't ready for the rugged style that MM brought, yeah they tried but too me MM was the intimidator the whole time. When they dance it just felt more from the their soul than just a set routine.
The reason why Thesis got five points on battle in the begininng is because battle points are distributed on overall performance not on how one fares against the latter.
In my honest opinion, if Jinjo brought Hong10 to the battle, then Jinjo would have won 4 of the categories if not all. If you look at the end of the video, you can see: Foundation- 1 point off from tie Originality- 1 point off from tie Battle - 2 points off from tie If Jinjo didn't save their insane sets for what they were hoping for(the final battle) then theres no doubt that Jinjo would've taken this. ORRR They could've just sent Wing out for another solo round or two. That wouldve worked too.
I didn't say to never use routines, but the essence of battling comes from that one vs one, and I agree Jinjo's routines are some of the most dope and creative routines I've ever seen. But oh well we differ on the one on one vs routine ordeal that's fine, just don't throw the OG's under the bus like that so quickly. They got a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience that we all can learn from that shouldn't be forgotten.
Ok, obviously you're not listening because AOM is Jay Park's guys and it just happens that a couple of them are battling for MM. And like I said he himself was there too. SEems like you're on MM's bandwagon so no matter what I say you're just gonna be ignorant about it
Man, you can discuss it all you like, but at the end of the day the ones who decide by default are the ones who are busy dancing and evolving - not those sitting behind the keyboard dissecting it. Bboying didn't become what it is today because a bunch of us just met and decided that this is where we're gonna take it. It became what it is because this is what is natural for it to be - free and undefined. Therefore, no matter how much old-schoolers refuse to accept it, this is what it's gonna be.
ikr. i was saying like that not cuz jinjo is the the top crew right now or cuz jinjo already famous, but i saw something wrong with the scores. if u see it carefully, u will see a cpl or a few scores were wrong. and especially for bboy born, he cant compare himself with other people for the musicality cuz he's the beat king.
right i know they weren't in the finals but i didn't know born didn't judge foundation. ok but still there aren't a whole lot of people who get a high score in foundation
hmmm ive seen those moves done by other people as well. and that move that the guy did at the end of his set is definitely not just thesis's, i saw lilou do back before thesis was on the scene. I dont think that octopus's set was purposely copied from thesis, i think that they just had some similar moves that ive seen other people do aswell. at least i think so haha
How does AOM have nothing to do with MM when I know for a fact that at least 2 of these guys are from AOM??? Those 2 guys are Junior and his brother and Junior is clearly wearing a AOM shirt. Go watch the other R16 video from "YAKbattles" and you see him rocking it...
Routines are dope and are essential to big competitions but remember this is a FREESTYLE DANCE. I doubt anyone can freestyle routines. And plus, battles are supposed to be raw. This is a bboy battle, not a choreography competition.
Sorry for posting that 1/100 bullshit. That was not me. I wanna give props for Massive Monkees for taking it all the way this year. Jinjo is my favorite crew tho. Hopefully they can take the Battle Of The Year.
Getting tired at how almost EVERYONE falsely points out that Octopus crashes when he does his elbow flare suicide.
ITS NOT A CRASH PEOPLE CHRIST.
Twixx wasn't at the US qualifier, but he was really key to MM winning the world final. He was so dynamic and clean in execution the whole jam scoring 5's and 4's in both categories. And he is such an intimidating bboy for opposing crews.

One of the best battles I've seen in a minute. Wing and Thesis went off!
Thank you R16 for the most exciting bboy battle I have seen in YEARS!!!
I like how Thesis just comes out of nowhere in the beginning and throws down a beasty ass set lol
wing deserves a 4 for foundation in his 1st set
You don't see MM a lot because they aren't as active as other international crews. It's pretty hard for crews in the US to actually get a large squad together for events like UK, BOTY, and R16. That's why you see them enter 2 v2 and 3 v3s more.
It's not that they DON'T win. It's cause they don't have the time to prepare for big events.
I've never seen Thesis get as aggressive as he did toward Octopus. This was a wild battle.
we love you wing:))) from Philippines
Holy crap both teams are so damn good. I think they are like the top 2 groups in this R16 Korea 2012
I would love to see the O.U.R. System used in Red Bull B.C. One in the future. It would shed some light on who is a well balanced bboy and it would convince me that the event is not entirely about the sport but also the dancing aspect of it. I think the casual viewers would start to understand what bboying is and that it is no just about the dynamics.
every wing's set in this battle was totally insane! I couldn't find anyone else outshining his performance.
To this very day, Wing's 2000s still amaze me.
Most of you people need to stop hating. Seems like a lot of you forgot that the "R" in R16 stands for respect. Peace, Love, Respect from the East Coast.
They were on ABDC.... but were world champion bboys and respected highly in the bboy community as pioneers long before they were on that show....
Thesis is one of the most Underrated Bboy's out there. I think he destroyed Jinjo. MM won.
Fuck thesis he's just one rude piece of garbage
lol in this battle both side did really well no one is destroy anyone else . like look at the score. almost a tie.
maucuagio what was the score?
Griff 798 139 to 142 . the dynamic was a tie the execution goes to Jinjo and the rest goes to massive monkees . R16 OUR judging system is really good and fair . i think this system should apply to all others Bboy event.
Griff 798 THIS MAD NIGGA
the o.u.r judging system is a step up. my only complaint is that it seems to have taken away from the crew aspect alittle and moved the dynamic of a battle to more solo skills.
One of the best battles I've seen! Thesis killing it like always!
bboying is becoming the new boxing. people will start going to battles to watch with everyones eyes on the platform. pretty amazing
If they are the ones who started it, it does not mean everyone is a constant slave to their opinion. They do not direct where bboying will go, and it definitely does not mean that they are always right in their decision.

Oh hell yeah, that needs to happen for sure; I didn't realize their style was so similar until I saw this battle. When they both get turned up, their complexity along with the execution goes way up.
it's not musicality, it's the foundation category. encompasses more than just music ability
3:24 Somebody shouted GO WING!
what a first song ?
OMFG Thesis can push any team over the top, his 1st was insane. This battle was far to crazy, both teams came with so much style and energy. Battle truly could have went either way best battle of the year for me!

THIS BATTLE IS TOOOOO NASTY!!!!!!best ive seen in awhile
I have NO idea, why you're being thumbed down so much. This is the exact reasoning the OGs even gave to Jinjo when they lost Fluido. You may not 'like' it, but too many routines is a bad thing. Born was judging two categories Musicality and Foundation. Which do you think took Foundation? Musicality?
Jinjo(w) vs Massive Monkees | R16 Korea 2012 World Finals Bboy Crew | Semi Final
Best battle i have ever seen!!!!!
Like Orb said after the battle.. this was the final or should be the final.
I love how people give you thumbs up when you have no videos nor evidence of you bboying.
These judges are all Legends and have given more than what is asked of anyone in HipHop to the community. None of these judges deserve that at all.
That was bananas...Jinjo won imo
Fuck. God I love being a bboy. Thank god i found this culture, so I could see amazing battles like this. Just. Thank you
WOW never in my life have a I seen 2 crew battle each other so hard.
First song please!!!
This definitely should have been the final battle..
I don't think he is. He's from Seattle so MM probably asked him to battle with them for R16.
In my honest opinion, if Jinjo brought Hong10 to the battle, then Jinjo would have won 4 of the categories if not all.
If you look at the end of the video, you can see:
Foundation- 1 point off from tie
Originality- 1 point off from tie
Battle - 2 points off from tie
If Jinjo didn't save their insane sets for what they were hoping for(the final battle) then theres no doubt that Jinjo would've taken this.
ORRR They could've just sent Wing out for another solo round or two. That wouldve worked too.
rivalry between thesis and jinjo has just reached new levels
Wing's set receives same amount of points as the man in the red hat?
that end of the battle with everyone coming closer and closer to fe in anticipation was awesome.
no not yet!
I didn't say to never use routines, but the essence of battling comes from that one vs one, and I agree Jinjo's routines are some of the most dope and creative routines I've ever seen. It already happened. Look up Unbreakable 2010 Thesis vs. Wing
This is worlds.
If you're talking about r16 Korea eliminations then yeah that was a different tournament.
You and TheGuider apparently missed my point. You're free to express yourself, but only to a certain extent. Read the link BboyHotshot posted.
King so can do everything, but how can pocket receive 5 for originality and foundation? Do you know where is that battle I want to see it
ikr.
i was saying like that not cuz jinjo is the the top crew right now or cuz jinjo already famous, but i saw something wrong with the scores. if u see it carefully, u will see a cpl or a few scores were wrong. and especially for bboy born, he cant compare himself with other people for the musicality cuz he's the beat king.
truer words never spoken my friend
Meaning that they don't really make it anywhere else, which is contextual to what I was saying in response to that other guy.
Just in case you don't know, 8:08 is not a crash
Sorry about that comment was drink last night.
But are you saying hong 10 doesn't dance?
who is the winner????
But Wing's style is different now from 2010 and It would be interesting if they battled as of now
This is Massive Monkees plus one other Seattle bboy (Thesis). Would you call Jinjo + Hong10, dream team Korea?
man what were you doing in the hotel afterwards though? i heard you got banned from r16 =/
dude they're one of the best crews out
right i know they weren't in the finals but i didn't know born didn't judge foundation. ok but still there aren't a whole lot of people who get a high score in foundation
BBOYS ARE AWESOME. enough to proud
Can somebody tell me the crew members' names? Im confused by the gear they wore here and what they actually use to wear right now
what's the name of the bboy who did the first piece with thesis?
2:09 That's b-boy Junior Orduna from the AOM crew.
Morning of Owl did it several times at R-16 2013. They dominated the competition.
hmmm ive seen those moves done by other people as well. and that move that the guy did at the end of his set is definitely not just thesis's, i saw lilou do back before thesis was on the scene. I dont think that octopus's set was purposely copied from thesis, i think that they just had some similar moves that ive seen other people do aswell. at least i think so haha
Don't judge or hate! Just love the dance! :D
Anyone know who the bboy is at 5:24? he seems pretty underrated for that amazing set
That's Jeromeski
Dude I wish they were all there. But I don't get why thesis is with mm? Was it just for r 16?
eh, i see what your saying but they rarely compete outside of the states.
because there are heroes in Massive Monkeeys, namely Bboy Thesis.
he's getting a lot of points right?
first song 1st song FIRST song????
Intense battle! Props to both Crews
Good battle but jinjo took it for me what do you think?
ahhhh BEST BATTLE OF 2012 SO FAR!! MORE PROPS TO O.U.R. SYSTEM!!!
both crews were dope. bigger shout for wing and thesis, they carry
USA vs Korea IBE 2012
You ready for it rockleetricker
How does AOM have nothing to do with MM when I know for a fact that at least 2 of these guys are from AOM??? Those 2 guys are Junior and his brother and Junior is clearly wearing a AOM shirt. Go watch the other R16 video from "YAKbattles" and you see him rocking it...
another awesome battle. guy in green tshirt for Jinjo owned everybody.
THIS should have been the FINALS ROUND!!! GOT DAMN!!!!
You're exactly right, other than that round it was dead even, Twixx even came out and showed him how it was done!
So much hype. Crowd is so energetic.
This was a dope battle!!
Routines are dope and are essential to big competitions but remember this is a FREESTYLE DANCE. I doubt anyone can freestyle routines. And plus, battles are supposed to be raw. This is a bboy battle, not a choreography competition.
STOP ARGUING BOUT WHO WILL WIN!! NOW TELL ME THE TITLE OF ALL TH SONGS!! thanks :)
my comment...both two crew are great
Nasty battle! props to the DJ, music was on point!
wait, how did jinjo crew get into the finals if they lost this round? o-o
i'm not really sure if that's his name but he was dope
Also the guy before Twixx crashed on that backwards head flip, and Twixx responded and did it perfectly
Everyone needs to take a look at the Guy in Green shirt in Jinjo Team, he is crazy sick with his spins~
Sorry for posting that 1/100 bullshit. That was not me.
I wanna give props for Massive Monkees for taking it all the way this year.
Jinjo is my favorite crew tho. Hopefully they can take the Battle Of The Year.
Never seen these guys before but i'd say Jinjo's execution is a lot better over all, includiugn the team work.
