Watching all of your videos, whenever you show a fish you’ve caught you always do the tactic of lifting it half way out of the water for a couple seconds and the release it immediately. That’s something I’ve started doing and it’s the best way to get a picture of the fish. Keep up the great content!

Glad to hear it! Yeah, that's become my favorite way to grab pics of fish. It seems to work out quite well.

Very informative video! Thank you for making these points for us!I did not know that about using rubber nets instead of cloth. Looking forward to the next video!

Appreciate it! Yeah I didn't know that about cloth nets either until maybe 7-8 years ago.

I have a suggestion more than a question. I have noticed that your bookshelf is filling up with more books, and since you are an English teacher I'll bet you read quite a bit. So, with that assumption, what about a book of the week or month dealing with Fly Fishing. FYI I am still trying to zoom in and steal your book titles. CFDP once again for the score. "Taste born in the Carolinas."

That's a great idea! The books on my shelf currently are: "A Modern Dry Fly Code" by Vincent C. Marinaro, "Casting Forward" by Steve Ramirez, "A Fly Rod Of Your Own," "Good Luck and the Kindness of Strangers," and "All The Time in the World" all by John Gierach, "Six Fish Limit" by Steve Raymond, "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy, "Last Bus to Wisdom" by Ivan Doig, and "The Adventurer's Son" by Roman Dial.

Love your programs, im fairly new at fly fishing, but i do have a tip to share. I mark my tippets with a black marker at the loop with a dot to indicate X size. 4 dots for 4 X ect. This wY the tippits go in the proper package and no guessing. Thanks for your work. Plm

Hi Spencer! This is John. The guy in the wheelchair who ties flys and wants to fish them on spin casting gear. If you have any tips on how to more effectively fish like this. I cant use fly fishing gear for two reasons. One i cant get into the water because i use a wheelchair due to being born with spina bifida. And two i have had bilateral rotator cuff injuries so whipping my rod obove my head back and forth to cast. I am sixty years old now to so that makes it even more challenging. Thanks in advance for your feedback!
    John

What I’ve seen done before John is put a bubble on your regular line and tie some tip it on the end with a swivel. Then you can put a dry fly on the end of the tip it. Don’t know if that helps but I’m sure Spencer has some tricks up his sleeve!

This is a technique used here in Ireland called “bubble and fly” and it is still used here albeit not by as many as in days gone by. I’m not very familiar with it, but I’m sure there’s plenty of literature out there on it!

I used to be a musky guide in northern Minnesota. When we would catch a fish, boats that would be near would literally flock around and watch you release the fish. I on multiple occasions jumped in the lake to grab a fish to continue trying to revive them. I very very rarely lost fish but every time it happened, we would be screamed at, or ridiculed for how we handled the fish. Every fish was handled with the utmost respect but things happen. All that to say man, things happen, I’ve watched a lot of your videos you’ve never came across as being a negligent.
