I've been following your fishing show for years - still totally love it - brilliant job! Is there any chance you could do a primer on Pike fishing for beginners using minimal expensive tackle? I've got a strong telescopic travel rod which my local tackle shop said I could spin with, but I have no idea about what line to use and what leader I need. My dad is an engineer and he's going to make some spoon lures for me in his workshop. All the best, Joanne
Great to see your videos again, I'm amateur fishermen, only in spare time because off work... , and watching whit pleasure your work. Hat down for you Mr. You're a great man 👏👏👏
Hi Graeme, These last 2 videos were great. There was something very raw, pure and basic about them that simplified fishing and it was food for thought. No carrying of tons of gear but great knowledge in the lures you made. Taking these videos on board. Steve in Fife.
Hi Stevie, I was going to hold them back but with the way the UK lockdowns are coming I thought I would put them up earlier so people have something to distract them...I now have to re-jig my entire film schedule and give all our loyal viewers something different...Plenty of films to get up though. Stay safe up there.

I got nothing by the sluice....not a sniff...all further downstream. But obviously I tried the sluice part first..guess they just weren't at home there on the day..I tried a few casts right at the end..also nothing.
Thanks for this Graeme. Was out on the Fen drains yesterday with my son piking. Had a couple of good bites but lost the fish. Hopefully your vid will turn this into getting them on the bank next time we go!
What a great pike session excellent filming in not the best conditions. Love the fact you talk us through your logic and at the end of the day you have the results to back your thought processes up. Well done and thanks for sharing.
Hello Graeme. I don't know exactly where you were but i know from experience that the Lincolnshire/Norfolk fenland drains hold some fantastic pike. If you include the Welland above Spalding They were world class pike fisheries 40 years ago. Back then a Shakespeare Big S and a Lincs drain was equal to a 15/20lb fish regularly and 5 pounders all day. Not fished there for 30 years so they have probably changed. Drains are definately a walking game. All the best.
Yes,the Fens were famous for some seriously big Pike and Zander...like you I have no idea what it fishes like these days...not the same as 40 years ago I'm sure.
They are good, but I prefer one with a more rough (is that correct?) material with a little bigger meshes. If the the treble hook is stuck in the net, its much easier to get it out. Simply twist the line and the fibres open up. Rubber is better when it comes to not smelling. (forgot the net in my car one day, my wife loved it!)
Would love to go fishing with you! Think you should start a competition type thing and take winners out with the legend that is yourself!! TIGHT LINES!

Rubberised landing nets worth their weight in gold for lure fishing

Hi Graeme, not a pike question but a dreaded carp question. When link ledgering bread flake how often do you have to rebait the bread on the hook?
Quite often as small fish nibble it away..Every 5/10 minutes ? Sometimes less.
From my experience Straight retrieve will get lots of follows , but start and stop will get them to strike at the lure ..
That's what I generally find when feature fishing. Only when its clean open water, say reservoirs do I use constant retrieves to get ground coverage.
If you're Lure is shiny, small movements with your rod while retrieving your Lure creates reflections, from the daylight, an attracts fish. Plus the underwater waves, an vibrations , the fish can hear an feel . All the Best -

That's about 8 miles from where I live, some good fish in that river!
And yes, that entire road where you were floods and completely cuts off the bridge and house next to it.

polluted water affect most fish that way
