My theory of why The Bride is in prison is because she knew it was the only place that Frankenstein couldn't find her, seeing that we don't actually see her get arrested
I kind of agree with both of you. The bride may have let herself be captured as a way of taking a break from her life on the run, but then after years of incarceration, realized that Waller was not someone to be trifled with and had to actually escape.
I am glad that you pointed out that Victor also cheated on his wife and family like Frankenstein obviously is not a good person, but Victor didn’t seem like that good of a person either. If he cheated on his family I just feel bad for the bride in general Those are the only two men that she knew so I don’t even know if that was real like real feelings. It’s just a weird scenario.
Fun fact, the intro sounds a lot like the music from Borat, which is ironic because the girl that played Borat‘s daughter is voicing one of the characters in creature commanders
I loved the bride’s backstory, cause in the original book by Mary Shelley this is exactly what victor was scared of and why victor never made a partner for Eric. He knew there was a big possibility that they wouldn’t like each other and there be two lonely monsters roaming the world 😂😂💀
They made Frankenstein into one F***ed up character. At first, he went from being a guy longing for a companion, even though he clearly doesn't know how to love, to a class-A stalker who's been stalking the Bride for decades! Seriously, Eric needs therapy.
He's also been a fucked up character, stalker-ish character. The Monster kills Victor's wife when he refuses to create the Bride in the original novel.
Based on the trailer it seems like Nina was literally just born this way from ordinary humans and she just mutated (Or her scientist father did something before she was born to make her look the way she does). So I think The Bride was being literal when she said Nina is human. Nina is human in the comics too but the circumstances are different
I feel like Flag is the indication that some of the media we'll be getting is the more grounded superhero content and then the more wacky side too through Phosphorus, Weasel etc😊 Will just have to wait and see what the future holds but Gunn hasnt disappointed so looking forward to it😁
I wonder if Nina's body language (knees pulled up to her chest) in the prison, her - compared to the other CC - more chipper attitude (although she comes off sad most of the time, like the wave back to the lil Pokolistan girl, and even plain annoyed when The Bride wouldn't just say "no"), Waller saying she is 'the smartest and most reasonable" and The Bride calling her a "human with gills" is hiding a much more traumatizing backstory. I imagine the fact that she was, lets say... enhanced, by her scientist father didn't make her popular with others. Probably was shuned, and that's why she wants to fit in here and follow the mission
Great 2 episodes and what a start to the DCU! They explained the canon perfectly in the first few minutes aswell. Nowhere near as complicated as some made out it would be
I love how Gothic the bride's backstory feels like. She's kind of a blend between the hero and the ingenue character archetypes as she is the damsel chased by the monster but also the one who beats it, Eric is clearly the monster character archetype as he chases after the ingenue and is defeated by the hero, and then I feel like they did represent the location as a character very faithfully, which is also very Gothic. You've got a lot of other Gothic aspects as well in this, I've only been picking up on those since I've been reading up on Gothic literature recently but it feels awesome to be able to notice them now.
Can we please give JG a shoutout for using GOLGO BORDELLO as the main musical inspiration/reference for these episodes. The dude never ceases to amaze me with his soundtracks.
I do feel bad for both of victors creations. They were both just basically children and it seems like his first creation never did fully grow up mentally
Amanda Waller - queen of loopholes 🙂 Fish girl's name is Nina Mazursky. I've been thinking about Eric - to me, he represents the difference between psychopath and sociopath. A psychopath understands other people's emotions, but they don't care about them except as a method of manipulation, and that can lead to terrifying things (ask me how I know...). A sociopath doesn't understand other people's emotions, and can be very dangerous because of it - but it's not necessarily malicious. And am I the only one who looked at the Bride's wacky arms and just went "well, have to lop those off and replace them"? It doesn't look like it would be hard... 😉
Why won’t Bride just talk to Eric, just break it down to a brutal way where he can understand her that it just ain’t going to happen like on Malcolm in the Middle what Lois did to Craig to get him to understand
He did kill Victor’s wife in the book. He did make him so the same deal so if you make me a wife, I’ll leave otherwise I’ll stick around biscuits. What he’s doing
I love this show! I am really curious of how Mina(the fish girl) got arrested and what did she do. I have a theory on what could have happened, Mina was just a baby got real bad sick from maybe a family illness and her dad(who is a scientist/researcher) who wanted to save his daughter gave her some kind of mutagen that caused her to turn into a fish/human hybrid-since we saw brief glimpses from the trailer of baby Mina and teen Mina- some big secret gov(possibly us or some other country) wanted the dad's secrets and a big fight started(mina is possibly either a young adult or a adult already at this point) mina had either saved her dad from being killed or he may have died in her arms and when the authorities arrived all the blame was on her and despite her claims of innocence she was sent to this special prison thus leading her to meet others like her. I do love the bride(wonder if she has a real name?) cause she is a badass and I believe that the frankenstein monster pursing her thinks that some day they will be together when in reality he is crazy obessed with her. I have a few theories on what could possibly happen next for both of these characters. 1. while being held hostage somewhere the frankenstein monster sneaks in to find the bride leading to several deaths while the commandos sneak in through all the chaos find both mina and the bride just as the monster does, the bride and monster fight again(hopefully she gets new arms or maybe circe fixes her arms back) she gets captured by the monster while the commandos fight to get to safety away from circe and try to save the bride, meanwhile the bride tricks the monster somehow and removes his pride(below the belt if you get my drift) leaving the monster in agony while she gets away and regroups with the commandos at the princess's place. 2. the monster helps get mina and the bride out of circe's lair with the commando's help and Flag Sr. seeing how strong the frankenstein monster is lets him join the group to the bride's dismay-the bride and frankenstein monster fight constantly in the palace and the frankenstein monster falls in love with the princess somehow(maybe not change her like himself-which i don't think it is possible) and throughout the season the bride gets jealous and fights the princess head on and either of them get bad hurt and the monster lashes out and severely damages the bride and runs off with what is left of the princess and smacks circe along the way?
the way i see it, superman is going to be our proper introduction to the dcu while this is just a prelude to show us what's crossing over from the old universe.
@Omn1Media,the character Alan Tudyk(Dr. Phosphorus) could also be Atomic Skull that happen been one of the past Dc Spuerman Animated Feature films, maybe you had watched it or not?.
DCU officially starts here aaaaaand I can't watch it coz not available In the uk 👎 So I'm watching reactions to it and it looks really good for what i see !!!
I was worried this is how the DCU would begin. Animation's great, characters for the most part great, but... Gunn for some reason cannot let go of putting 4-Letter R-Word into his shows, often with humor. Just in episode 2 alone we have (If what a lot of us have guessed is true regarding the princess) 4-Letter R-Word of Flag Sr., and with the Bride we got technically PDF.filia, Incest (He was basically her father), Necrophilia, and Grooming. And this isn't like, new for Gunn, it's in a lot of his work, I just don't get why we need to begin a brand new DC Universe off with this. Batman TAS was able to do complex dark storytelling, without resorting to that. I'll especially be annoyed if in a future episode they laugh off Flag Sr gettng 4-letter R-worded. (Because again, if Princess is who we think she is, that is what it is) Like a lot of this comes off as some pervy fan-fiction writing. I even googled "Creature Commandos Bride Comic" and it took me to the Wiki for her Comic Counterpart, like, read it over and tell me it wouldn't be better than what we saw in episode 2, it is completely different, but still just as tragic, and doesn't sink that low to make her a victim of all that. Like reading her comic origins and then seeing her twisted into this situation, I feel bad for the character and what he's doing to her.
Facts. It’s like this is the only thing Gunn knows how to write. That’s probably why he has so many characters in the new Superman movie. Not even a Superman movie at this point.
He did kill Victor’s wife in the book. He did make him so the same deal so if you make me a wife, I’ll leave otherwise I’ll stick around biscuits. What he’s doing

The world building in these first two episodes is probably the best we've ever gotten in any cbm
For real and the animation has been amazing
@@mudiametokunboh2370animation was good but i liked what if’s animation better
Surely, they introduced so many characters and references and none of it felt forced or side tracked from the main story

so excited for more shows in the dcu and for episode 3:)

Not surprised by it since people back then usually would cheat on their wives or husbands
Not surprised by it since people of that era usually cheat on their wives and husbands
In general it's also fucked up that he's banging her when he literally raised her from birth
Another thing that was creepy about that is how childlike Bride’s mind was back then. Hell Frankenstein has a childlike mind…
Yeah that was also creepy
If G.I. Robot is so eager to kill Nazis, they might as well just send him to Earth-X. 😂😂😂

They're like a dysfunctional Hawkman and Hawkgirl!😂
So Hawkman & Hawkgirl from the DCAU
So.... DC Abridged
