    I know helium is lighter than air. but what would happen to a helium balloon in the vacuum chamber? Would it sink and pop?
    Great videos.

      Helium is lighter than air to be true. But it is still heavier than a vacuum. Just do the math.....

    • @Kurokubi
      @Kurokubi 3 роки тому +2

      If helium floats because it's lighter than air (but still posses mass) and a vacuum is, well, a void of "empty" space, the helium won't have anything to be lighter than.

    • @Jake-rs9nq
      @Jake-rs9nq 3 роки тому

      A balloon in a vacuum chamber would fall to the floor and expand, then leak out gas.

    Honestly, the most satisfying thing about this video in my opinion is that you at least explained the science. I'm tired of watching a lot of these videos that show what happens but doesn't explain why and often times say, "Don't try this at home." If you are gonna try it and show people, at least have an explanation for why it is happening.

    attempt to light a ping-pong ball on fire in a vacuum chamber,it should still be able to burn without oxygen due to the nitrocellulose...also have a look at the chamber pressure before/after to see crudely how much gas is released(should be quite a bit),if you can ignite the ball.....

      The oxygen in its molecular structure is bonded with nitrogen which is inert. Therefore it cannot burn without external oxygen.

      @DivyeshVartha 5 років тому

      @@elijahjones1271 Elijah Jones first of all. I'm surprised you replied to a two year old comment. Now there is a spark temperature at which a substance will combust in the occurrence of a spark. Then there is a flash temperature (higher than spark temp.) at which the substance spontaneously bursts into flames. Now I think that friction alone isn't enough to bring the ball substance to flash temperature. At least when we're talking about normal table tennis play. Even if you rubbed it really fast on some rough surface, I doubt it will reach the flash temp. It must be an urban myth imo. (I haven't experimented with balls and fire tho, old or new, all this is based on theory)
