Mark Lettieri - baritone guitar, composer
Jack Stratton - mixing, camera

bass drum is the new hi-hat
he's playing the rim a lot, cool sound
He needs it to keep up with Joe...
Actually it’s the old hihat bcause later he changes to hihat
Metal drummers: "now, if you'd said that in the mid eighties..."
Cinder blocks are new bass drum.
Nate Smith is so technically proficient, but above all his drumming is SO creative. He's constantly coming up with stuff I've never heard before.
So true, i think he's very underrated
he s got a solid ghost side shot game
For sure. Cameraman missed a trick or two this time around
With a kick, floor tom, snare and hi hat to boot. No fancy rig.
Made darts neck go extra crazy
Nate Smith,
the only man who can play the hi hat just by looking at it.
This comment still relevant as ever
I just laugh when I watch Nate Smith play drums - I don't know how else to handle it.
me too :D
I believe this is a common reaction
Same here yo.
Sensory overload.
Classic reactions:
laughing like a madman or shouting like one's under attack
If this could play on loop while doing chores I think I'd clean my house completely out of existence
A Sped up video of you Marie Kondoing the fuck out yer place to this tune is defo needed! would watch.
10/10 would recommend and watch. DO IT.
You can loop it right click on the video and loop
@@louis26 The guy is verified and acting like he doesn't know how to loop a YT video..
I feel the love he sent, but I ain't buying the ignorance. It was probably just so he could set himself up for that cleaning joke if we're real about it.
So clean it'll do the job for you
Fun fact, if the fearless flyers are ever filmed in any quality greater than the equivalent of 480p, the resulting video is able to melt faces off due to unsafe levels of funk. The EPA is highly aware of this.
I kept trying to fix my wifi because this vid looks like shit🤣
Now I know why the vids look so bad but tha jams are so badass.
Lol
Stop teasing us, Joe. Tell us about the bass!
Yeah why aren't enough people talking about this?
Also love the channel dude
I'm waiting so much for the video about that bass
It’s driving me nuts…I really want to know what the volume knob controls
well its obviously a departure from his single humbucker artist MM, and now he has two single coils more in line with a Jbass but im sure there is some joe dank in there!!
@@antonioconti4016 it's coming. Bet they filmed it here.
love that baritone guitar sound wow.
You should check out both of Mark's "Deep: The Baritone Sessions" albums. I've had them on repeat for weeks. Soooo good!
Creeping into Joe's territory.
They need to go carefully, mind- Too much drive and it'll be Djelfpeck.
I love Joe's floppy bass sound and the zingy baritone together
@@theflymo tbh that would be awesome
The mixing is as flawless as the playing. As always.
Jack has mastered the mix with these 4, for sure
If only the visuals were on par. I get it's Jacks 80s vibe but i'm kind of over it. Can't he just keep the 80's filter for Vulf videos?
Strong words my brother
@@shorey66 funk is 60s and 70s really true raw funk
@@jungleninja8415 I know. But Jack has a distinctly 80s vibe to the outfits and furniture etc, not necessarily the music.
That little stick roll at 1:26 on the drums gave me chills.
It's a crime that wasn't fully in the frame
@@nishantak911 Can we just have a video of Nate Smith playing drums by himself? I would watch for hours.
He's sublime in his application of chops...
@@brandontholt I mean, you can definitely find such videos. He's one of those savants where your jaw slowly drops to the floor, even if you don't really have a nuanced appreciation of the skill on display
Starts out funky, then gets funkier, then they drizzle hot funk all over it. And Nate is a BEAST.
Just in time for my lunch break. Now I’ll spend 30 minutes listening to this on repeat instead of eating
WE must be identical twins!
Real adventurous of these chaps to try playing some funk. I'm sure they'll get the hang of it someday.
As you will of reviewing fairly. (Sorry, was feeling grumpy.)
🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes, they may!
@@PeteCarlton I think he was joking, obviously these guys are well versed
Great attempt at a funny comment, keep practicing and you'll nail it.
Love how that baritone is so metal esque yet is so fitting for the funk at the same time
Reminds me of Rage againt the machine
I love Fearless Flyers, but Nate Smith really makes me happy!
just realized something kinda dumb. Joe Dart has talked about Flea being an inspiration to him, and I find it funny that Flea started with a Musicman Stingray, then got a singature Fender Jazz Bass, and then got a singature Fender Stingray (basically). Joe Dart started with a Fender Jazz Bass, then got a signature Musicman Stingray, and now has a signature Musicman Jazz Bass (basically)
It's like relationships. You finger one for a few years, and then you find, you prefer to finger another one
Some of the funkiest silence this side of the internet
Truth. That's how you use spaces right there!
Some crazy syncopation going here. These guys are absolute masters of their craft.
So I thought that if I just watched that last section like six or seven more times I could get what Nate was doing. Nope. Each rewatch just broke my brain a lil bit more. And I liked it.
I feel like Mark’s playing is so unique in that he has this incredible ability and almost never shows it off. The dude is an absolute jazz master and it’s so hard to find videos of him actually taking solos
You can find plenty of them in his solo tunes, on Snarky Puppy records, on live performances of the Flyers, etc.
holy shit I think this is one of the best ff tracks yet
Uuuuuurrrrgggghhhh so good to see Nate flowing it out at the end there.. more of that please!
the silence says a lot in this track!
I instantly thought of a quote that goes something like "it's just as important what you play as it is what you don't."
It's not the notes you play. It's the ones you don't. Or something.
The big drum and the medium drum switcheroo - The Ace of Aces bamboozles again
That baritone guitar is the sickest thing I've heard in a long time.
The fearless flammers have never had a better drummer, good jorb.
Nate Smith still the only human that can play a hi -hat simply by looking at it 🤘🏼
Nate smith !!!! What artistry !
I just have to say, the BEST part of it for me is the timing of every player just being able to groove. Nate DOES NOT miss
love the day tripper riff nod! also nate smith casually playing open hihats with no hands is a flex if ever i´ve seen one :D
This is for sure my new fav from these new ff releases
Well this is just one of the coolest things to ever happen... My favorite FF jam yet. I just wish they were all longer. Amazing work here guys!
We've been blessed on this Tuesday afternoon
Dry and tight as a Martini. A funky one. 👍
the chorus thing after the b section is nuts.
I'm glad they released this video on UA-cam. My betamax copy from 1981 finally gave out.
That baritone makes me smile! ☺✊🏿
I can't watch Joe Dart when I already have a headache. Although the funk can remove arthritis, rheumatism, or migraine, watching him sometimes offsets funk's own rewards.
Whatever part of your body it is, just lay it on your radio....
The desired effect is what you get
....when you improve your interplanetaryfunksmanship!!!!
Those ff boys sure can play!
Jazz Bass and flats is an incredible sound
Do you have any idea what make jazz bass that is?
I'M SAYIN
@@MC-qe5qb My guess would be it's a pre-release Joe Dart signature jazz bass by Music Man
I keep wondering if they're actually flats, or if the pickups on that MM Jazz sound just *that* beefy.
Not sure if they are the EB cobalt flats - the original joe dart bass had them.
I have watched this one more than any other Fearless Flyers video. Nate's rim shot work is like the best sushi you ever had.
Cool door. Brilliant music.
Being drip-fed these jams like 👁👅👁
Some wicked hot licks !! BRAVISSIMO !!!
I met Nate Smith the other day, walking down the street in downtown Portland. Looked like he was shopping or something. So I can verify that he is, in fact, human. 🎶🥁🔥
mark's hair adding some extra funky vibes
Oh my god. I feel like Nate has shared the secret of Rhythmic wisdom to the band now.
O....M....G! Everything is INSANE! When the camera focuses in on the drummer.... my mind was literally blown.... gotta listen again...
AWESOME! That really cooked. Thanks for sharing your wonderfully funky sound. I’m transported to the 70’s… Wow, very nice!
Watching Joe's head movements made me realize he would have been perfect in the SNL skit where the three guys go to night clubs with the neck movements to the song "What Is Love"
SPETTACOLARE!!
Ciao from Italy!!
Truly Enjoyable!!!! Thank You!!!
can't get over these new FF releases
Damn, these guys make me smile.
As dry as a very dry thing. Fagen and Becker would approve, I'm sure. Great stuff!
With great Funk comes great responsibility
The way Nate moves so gawd dayem funky
Damn good work, gentlemen!!! Damn good work
I live for joes energy and enthusiasm he feels that groove man! Stanky
Nate Smith is the best musician on any instrument right now.
Editor: How low quality do you want the video?
Director of photography: YES
How can you guys keep doing this? Amazing every single time 🤩
Although I do miss the saxophones a good bit, you cannot deny the power of the guitar/baritone/bass trio over that unparalleled Nate Smith groove....so tasty!
*They* are the greatest dancer.
the drum solo at the end tho!! mmmMMM!!!
Nate’s single strokes are the best in the game
oh hell yeah love the bari riff
You guys are great.
You manage to make me dance when I'm a real pole.
And you made my bass level go way up ;)
FUNK POWWAAA
Greatest drummer of all times right here!
Good yo start the day with this.... lets go!!
Some of this needs to be sampled for a hip hop groove, could definitely rap over this
Nate just never ceases to amaze!!!
the guy with the sunglasses is so talented
Nate Smith shining bright
Fly On,fellas,fly on!✊️😎🔥🔥🔥🔥
I CAN NOT WAIT for this new album!!!
Reeeaaalllyy enjoyed this one.
vulfpeck youve done it again!!
Nate never misses goddamn!
I'm a simple man. New FF vid posts, I click.
That flangered, overdriven baritone riff was so tasty, I don’t think I need lunch.
Nate nice left foot. Splash chick control is impressive. I need to work on this. I always focus on the drums first now I will have to listen to the song. Thanks for this.
fantastic.
When I heard Nathan Smith play that snare fill at 2:20 for the first time I could see the truths of the universe for a brief moment
Gawd damn Mr. Smith. Leave something for the rest of the drummers on this fine planet.
I love the variety in the playing while keeping a very smiliar feel to the groove. Those bass fills throughout were great, and the drum fills at the end... Gnarly.
amazing! wow!
I canNOT wait for my vinyl copy of this album to arrive......someday.
What!!?? Nate Smith using a Bass Drum as a floor Tom!!!!??? Love it!! Oh Yeah
Joe Dart inspired me to quit the bass
HAAAA too funny!!!
Well he inspired me to start so the bass community neither lost nor gained a bassist
@@kesse_1204the circle of life
This is so damn good!
Also, I love playing around with the video playback speeds on some of these jams - listening at 1.25x or .75x speed sometimes provides such a different feel and groove.
The fearless flyers never miss
That drummer is amazing 👏
So funking funky. Good gawd
Nate’s right hand is just incredible. Idk how he gets those 16ths so smooth and bouncey holding the stick so far back. Isss inCREDIBLE!!!!
Nah not really.
I feel so....funky. Wait! Lemme put my shades on....ahhhh.
It’s the Nate show! 🙌
Nate Smith's drum kit is like a pokemon evolution.
This team 🔥🔥
Gotdaaaayum that's funky
Snare sound SICCKKK!!!!
