I like how Cloudkicker doesn't only do metal. The experimental sounds, to me, make him stand out amidst the many instrumental progressive bands out there.
I think the thing I admire about this man most is, not his music, his look, his personality, but his straightforwardness. As an artist he isn't afraid to admit, "Hey, I'm lazy....what up?" and I respect that. Your music is fantastic by the way, keep it up, do more live stuff!!!!
Love listening to this guy speak. So humble and honest. He expresses so much with his music that I guess he doesn't need to intellectualise his process. So inspiring.
Geez man... I don't even recall when I first discovered Cloudkicker but I know for sure it was a recommended thing to listen to from one of the guys from our national metal forum. And the rest is history. I mean, wow, the ideas, the music flow, every freaking thing is so at its point, like nothing is missing, every piece has its own standing. At the time I though how wonderful it would be to hear this act live but I was kind of sceptic since this was a one man project. But then again I was wrong. One day I came across the live footage here on YT and I instantly purchased the official release. I just had to. It was mindblowing.
OOOOOOOH, my GOD! HAHAHA! No way! And i remember him saying he wouldn't do this during the first Metal Injection interview. This is so cool... Haha. He seems like such an interesting dude. Especially after watching that first interview. I'm really happy for him. And i hope he succeeds even more.
man i wish Ben would come around again with the ol Naughty bunch. Last time in Edmonton was incredible. A historical moment. Still been addicted to Cloudkicker since that day.
Thank God your actually asking good questions :) Too many interviewers now ask stupid, irrelevant questions that have zero to do with the person or the music. I don't watch interview videos anymore because they are always trivial questions. Thanks for the interview!
Apparently, people don't understand copyright and how "movements" like Creative Commons evolved because there was (and still is) so much wrong about the music industry and laws around works of art in the age of remix culture and the internet. Thanks Ben for your great music and explicitly not caring about what people do with it as long as they give attribution to your creative genius!
It's a riff coming from the track "A weather front was stalled out in the Pacific--like a lonely person, lost in thought, oblivious of time.", around 1:40, from the album "Subsume" of Cloudkicker itself ;)
Hank Hill Well.. Hipster implies that extremely ironic chooches wearing skinny jeans and converse are the main folks that listen to Cloudkicker. Which of course they aren't. Which is why i ask "WTF?" @ implied "Hipster Rock".
Cloudkicker is one of those things you start listening to and realize a week later you haven’t listened to anything else.

I do too, but i also like that about a million other bands, singers, musicians, and rappers.
Such a down to earth chill guy. Don't personally know him but I love this dude, his music has given me some of the best times of my life.

Awesome dude, awesome band, and Opeth's "The Moor" in the background was the cherry on the top.

WHATT?? He was just 22 years old when he wrote The Discovery and The map is not the territory??.. fuck me... .

Man, i hope he gets to do more tours soon. Hopefully in this style, because it looks like he enjoyed himself.
We need another interview with Mr. Ben Sharp. Please make it happen Frank.

music should be free in my opinion, Cloudkicker is one of a kind... stoked for more material
Absolutely because instruments, rehearsal rooms, doing recordings, equipment that brokes and your time is totally free yeah sure. /s
Wicked dude. Gnarly.
BROTHER
Is that Opeth in the Background ? Sweet !

That's not really what hipster is. Just because it's hipster it doesn't mean the audience dresses a certain way. That doesn't make sense.
