    Awesome to see Rango again. I have slowly been gathering stuff so i can build my 48 willys. Your videos and build info is very inspirational. Thanks for all the info. I have a 4.3l chevy and took your advice awhile back and boight a ford T18. Need to get a bell housing roinded up for this combo at some point. I think i might try and use my dana 18 transfercase but need to find axles that pumpkins alingn with T case. Happy Memorial Day to you too !

      Sounds like a great project. You can pretty easily adapt a ford T18 to a GM bellhousing with a spread bar. I think Novak still makes these. Overall, that is going to be a great combo.

    Super cool Jeep. I remember following on Pirate with great interest. Glad to see it still kicking about 👍

    great video! Rango and your advice on Pirate was the inspiration for my 46 diesel willys, which I've been driving for 10 years now!

    Rango has been one of my favorite flat fenders since I first saw it on the Ultimate Adventure. It isn’t lifted like a lot of other Jeeps.

    You have built as close to the perfect Jeep as the original concept was about. Light, durable, reliable, capable. Sure you have tons of design and fabrication in your MB that mass production for the war effort couldn't be employed. But you have built an uber cool MB by refining that original concept.

    Your build thread on Pirate inspired me to tear down my cj5 and do something similar. I even bought the 2 x 4 tubing. I didn’t get far and wound up selling it as a basket case. Now I regret selling it. It had the 225 and an sm420. Now I’m thinking about a flat fender but not sure if I want a stock one or modified.

      Modified of course! A big project like this is daunting, but once done, it's something you could have forever.

    awesome videos Brennan - can you go over the rear shock mounts when you have time. and rear axle/ springs and why you moved then backwards. thanks 👍

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf  Місяць тому

      Thanks. In order to fit the 35s at close to stock ride height, it is best to move the axle back to help the front of the tire clear the front edge of the wheel opening. You can't trim that side nearly as much as the rear of the opening. The rear shocks mounts don't really work that well ( shocks are laid too far back ), I will be doing something different when I install the new fancy rear shocks.

    Can you consider making the rango frame plates in a kit I’m sure many people will be interested in purchasing them save us a lot of time😅😅😅 rango has a huge fallowing

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf  24 дні тому

      I've looked at it a few times, shipping just the plates around seems to be ridiculously expensive vs. the cost of the plates. The cut file is posted in the Rango build thread. Having them done locally to you is going to be much more feasible.

      Can you provide the cut files in a usb mail order $ I’m having trouble downloading them I have the frame plans but not the cut files

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf  23 дні тому

      Right click and then 'save as', don't try to open the file directly.

    Will a v8 fit in rango with the same transmission transfer case combo or is that pushing it

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf  27 днів тому

      In my opinion, no. A V8 in a flatty requires a 3-4" nose stretch to do it right and have enough room for things like a proper cooling package.

    What is the total length of the rango chassis bumper to bumper once you finished it

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf  Місяць тому +2

      There is a blueprint for the chassis posted on the build thread that I linked in the video description.

    Looks like something, maybe a gasket, flew off your roof at the beginning

    • @brennanmetcalf
      @brennanmetcalf  Місяць тому

      It was just an old cardboard template from the OBW project. There was a stack of them on the roof of Rango when I dug it out. Missed one. 😆
