I don’t think athletes investing in everything is always about ego, though that probably plays into it. I think it’s mostly learning from the past where millionaire athletes have gone broke after retiring, so they invest into a variety of things as a safety net for their wealth.
Ego plays a part but the other thing is that they just wanna make more money and that’s all it really is. They already have the funds to invest in anything, so why not make extra guaranteed cash? Set up their families for generations
People forget that they are people too. They have likes and passions, things they enjoy watching or being part of. Sport is their job, they want to get involved elsewhere too...

The top revenue leaders are (in order): NFL, MLB, NBA, Premier League, NHL, Bundesliga and La Liga. NFL players should get paid more than NBA players and soccer players.
Addendum: Of course, there are other factors. NFL players endure pain the other players will never experience.
NFL players should get payed more overall but they're never going to get payed as much as the NBA or Premier League or whatever because there's 53 players on a football team. That's a lot of checks to write.
When a single nfl game can bring in viewership numbers that go into billions, then sure. It really isn't as big as you think it is outside of the US. Football on the other hand is big on every continent.

Dak Prescott isn't even in the top 10 active QB's in the NFL. Currently 16th in QBR, but Dallas is more interested in maintaining an image over building a winner.
Dallas is the most valuable sports franchise.
@@williamjordan5554 I'm not sure what that pertains to other than paying more than marker value for an average starter to give appearances that the player is one of the best. All NFL teams have the salary cap, so paying one player can make it more difficult to build a team around the player. Dallas is only so valuable because of premium seating options and stadium ownership/revenue potential from concerts.

Am I the only one who thinks a celebrity or a professional athletes that got famous before they had a business are not “savvy business men” Davy business men and women to me are people who made their business made it successful and then kept growing. Somebody who had 10 million followers on Twitter isn’t savvy when they write a book people aren’t buying it because they want to read about what you did they are buying it because they are obsessed with you. You could put out a book that said hi if you were one of these 10 guys and it would be an American best seller…

@@ricssousa5964 and because he really is loyal. He knows that the club helped make him. But they were screwed, they couldn't pay him as much as they were and they couldn't drop his salary either... caught in a catch 22 and they had lost no option but to let the contract expire.
It's sad how there are plenty of hard-working individuals who barely eke out a living and then you have these overpaid individuals.
