Dude you really need to make an effort to try other VR games, Metro, Behemoth, Asgards Wrath, underdogs you cannot consider it 299 for one game anymore than a PS5 is 500 for one game.
Another big issue with Asylum are the bosses. It lacks variety. There all just big guys with the Titan venom that charges you and has it's goons do all the work for it. That's it. Even the Titan Joker was really disappointing. The only bosses that was kinda interesting is Poison Ivy. But even she wasn't that interesting.
@joshpetzoldt6344 No. Not really. There more like stealth and chase sequences rather than boss fights. It's like with Sypro 1 on PS1. There not actual bosses. There more like obstacles to avoid or take down.
Yeah, that area does make getting around the map a bit of a pain, but I suppose it had to be done, or you could get to the top of Wonder Tower and confront Hugo Strange long before he starts Protocol 10.
9:26 no the missing fire crew isn’t a good example of this. The firefighter mission has dedicated combat and stealth encounters with a variety of enemy types and no two encounters are the same. The political prisoner mission from Arkham city is actually a correct example of this. They’re literally all just press one button and you win. Pretty uneventful and uncreative. The firefighter mission is way better.
Yea I agree. Idk why he compared the firefighter mission to the political prisoner one. Yea you’re rescuing innocent people but the way they’re completed is night and day.
I agree with most of these takes. I give Asylum some grace since it was the first game. But I think Knight's biggest issue was its story. I also had an issue with how tank battles were implemented. By the end, they got lazy and just threw more and more tanks at us, and it felt so repetitive
Arkham Asylum is so hard to criticize since it came out 15 years ago and completely revived the Superhero Video Game genre but the lack of post game content does hold it back. Arkham City is amazing, the cat woman sections are really frustrating as they appear at the best parts of Arkham City but it's not unplayable. Arkham Origins released in an almost an unplayable state but I can't hold that against the game since it was made in 18 months. The biggest issue in Arkham Knight for me, was the horrible PC port, I don't know if you heard how bad it is, but let me tell you, people are not exaggerating, it is abysmal. And finally Arkham Shadow, In my controversial opinion I think it is the weakest of the mainline Arkham games. The release was just lacking in content and was overly buggy for the price of the Meta Quest 3. Great Video, You really covered everything!
@@HakoTaco1ty it’s now the best way to play, it’s gets the elderscrolls treatment from me as in I CANNOT play Arkham Knight on console anymore as it’s runs noticeably worse.
@@HakoTaco1 So Arkham Knight is immune to criticism because they fixed the problem? That is not an accomplishment by any means. People still give CD Projekt Red crap for the state of the release of Cyberpunk2077 even though it's polished now and they should give them crap because it was unacceptable. Bethesda Game studios received a lot of hate for the release of Fallout 76 which was unfinished and unplayable. And people are still criticizing them now. I can list way more examples including GTA definitive Trilogy or Pokemon Scarlett or the Dark Souls Prepare to die edition PC port. Let me remind you, this was 2015, this wasn't like a long time ago, the PC port was just pure incompetence on Rocksteady's part and it is more than a valid criticism. (I'm not blaming the developers, I'm purely blaming the suits and higherups in Rocksteady)
@@lukasevans8265 I didn't say it's immune to criticism. You do have a point that it shouldn't have happened in the first place, and I agree. However, I think you should criticize the games by their content like you did with Asylum and City. Technical issues should be a different discussion imo. Edit: Also, 9 years is not a long time ago to you?
I could say the same about Killer Moth. Why is the best Batman killed of screen by Red Hood?! Black Spider and maybe Captain Boomerang should have replaced Lady Shiva and Copperhead as assasins imo.
@@discogypsyfish9577 Yep. I'd love to see in depth fight agains Captain Boomerang as it'd be not only creative and challening but also pretty fun. Imagine throwing batarangs to counter boomerangs but if you miss they come back, striking from behind. Shiva is a martial artist and I don't see a big point in implementing her since Deathstroke's already in the game.
@@kendi5391 a Prometheus boss fight would go hard especially if he’s a mix mash of deathstroke and mr freeze when it comes to combat and surprise attacks
I have to disagree with City, Catwomans story seemed disconnected because it was perfectly written to impact the game if you had the DLC, but for the story to still make sense without her. The much bigger issue was the story being the worst of the 5 mainline games and filler sections like the jammers you mentioned.
I'd be interested to hear your take on why City has the worst story. Personally, it's my second favorite behind Asylum. Not to say we can't differ, just curious.
@ I’ve never heard Asylum put first either. It’s a pretty simple prison break, I guess that could be its charm. But In my opinion City was one of those stories that was like talking to Chatty Aunt Cathy. It took a while to get to the point and most of it didn’t matter anyway. We get poisoned by Joker, cool so far, then we try to get help on a cure, but before we can get in the museum we get sidetracked by the jammers, we get in and our help (Freeze) tells us to get more help, We get more help, (Ra’s.) Then we fight Freeze or no reason, just so the cure could get stolen during it. We go to get it back, and it was stolen from the person who stole it from us 😂 seemingly pretty easily. And instead of Talia just giving it to us to be healed first, she goes with Joker by her own will to kill him.(doesn’t go well) And at that moment Protocol 10 finally kicks off which was advertised as the main event the whole game as if Hugo was the big bad, and we have to go do it in the middle of the cure ordeal which Batman doesn’t even want to do himself. Which has another twist in the middle of it (Ra’s being behind it all) that doesn’t really impact the situation because it was about destroying Gotham anyway, and had already been stopped anyway, so the reveal had consequences for all of about 10 seconds. Then we finally get to resume the cure thing which was pressing on Batman’s health. I understand a little bit of sidetracking is video game logic, but Origins showed it didn’t have to go too far off the rails and feel like side quests make up your game.
I think the main problem with the story is when protocol 10 begins and Batman Just decides "saving the girl comes first" At least they could have justified It was because of the cure
Not my biggest issue with Origins but the progression system with the Dark Knight Challenges and unlocking skills and special abilities. You have to do them in order and the Worst Knightmare challenges you need to do in the story since enemies in rooms you have to be stealthy in won't respawn afterwards and there are only a few stealth sections in the side missions plus some of the challenges require certain takedowns. And with skills and special abilities you have to complete side missions or certain challenges to unlock them rather than through gaining XP. For instance, the Disarm and Destroy ability unlocks with completing Bird's side mission which can't be played until you are over half way through the story. I feel both of these take away freedom from players.
I completely disagree with everything you said about catwoman, that was bullshit. She was so entertaining, loved her missions, combat and gameplay. She’s faster than Batman but just not as strong.
The fact that shes forced makes her trouble, some sections are hard to pass because of lack of gadgets in predator + some people don't prefer playing as Catwoman
Found her to be the worst part of the game. Playing as her compared to batman felt horrible and like he said in th3 video it's kinda pointless storywise
I don’t get what y’all are talking about. She literally intertwined with the story great. She literally helps him and gives him info at the beginning after being saved from two face, then he has her own story by getting what was taken from her from the beginning of the game from Strange, saves Batman and tells him new info, then goes back to getting her stuff which she now found out two face stole and split to his goons. It perfectly shows the interaction between her and the main story with Batman and her own story being its own thing. Also she is very enjoyable to play, the things that was right was the and annoying is the not as much health as Batman and her slow takedowns that can cause somone to attack her and stop her from taking them down.
I recently replayed all 3 games and lord was the combat in asylum was so weird getting use to again. Like I literally forgot after you beat joker there’s nothing to do except collect riddler trophies which I’m not gonna do. Arkham city is still my favorite of the games and I really enjoy the catwoman sections/being able to traverse as catwoman in Arkham city is sm fun. For Arkham knight I i wish they had more boss battles that weren’t regulated to the Batmobile.
I agree I really quite liked driving around the city being a menace, driving villains to the gcpd and listen in on their conversations. But I fucking ABHOR riddler’s race tracks especially Condamned, and rocksteady sidelining traditional boss battles for tank battles
@@Tm_AiI never got to play origins bc I have an Xbox one s which sucks. Won’t be able to play shadow either cause I’m not spending $300 on the meta quest.
I swear asylum deserves a remake, I played asylum 4 times this year, and completed everything except challenge maps, yes I even got all riddler trophies, and I've been playing it for years, and ima master at it, but this game absolutely needs a remake, the combat is janky af, like your baterang just doseng activate and you lose your combo, it rarely ever targets titan enemies when your in a combo, and your barley ever able to just over titans as well, your movement is very stiff at times, and many more things, the people saying asylum aged perfectly, or saying asylum is a masterpiece have nstolga completely blind them to the truth it's insane.
I believe when we say Arkham Asylum is amazing we are talking about the map and environmental story telling, every location is important, detail everywhere, every single guard has a name, you can talk to most of them and it shows you a glimpse into their view of this, the buildings literally falling apart yet this company decided to do fastening repairs and throw a bunch of tech and machines into the building is fascinating to if you got the eyes for it. I'd say this game would be dead and forgotten without the artist and map designers
4:20 Back in the day if you played arkham city without the catwoman dlc and then got the dlc and played her episodes seperately it was all actually an amazing way to tie in her story to the main story but I can see how people don't like the cuts to her mid-story.
I love Origins as well but those glitches were beyond frustrating . The glitch i had was a common one on Steam. For some reason i couldn't block Joker's knife attack in the church at the very end. I was soo close.
Imo these are the issues I have Asylum:The combat and gadgets are just kinda slow City:The catwoman segments take me out the game to much Origins:Joker was imo the best in origins but black mask should've been the main antagonist and joker should've been his own individual thing Knight:The riddler trophies and most of the story are pretty mid and they removed my beloved sonic batarang😔
Main problems with knight Underutilized the bat family could have involved them more inside of the main story Making the antagonist Jason instead of the original concept which is hush Over used Batmobile Complete lack of boss battles Main story wasn’t that good Other than these points gameplay wise it was perfect
Joker reveal was peak, don't @ me. Black Mask has never been an important character apart from being canon fodder from someone. Like from Jason in Under The Red Hood.
Iron man wasn’t a top character for marvel before being played by Robert Downey Jr too , if you write the character in a good way you can make him better. Black mask got a lot of potential, more than two face in my opinion. He hates Bruce Wayne and doesn’t need a coin to make a decision
Well you clearly haven't read very many comics with Black Mask then because he can indeed be a very dangerous threat and even serve as a full on main antagonist for a really well written story!
Even ignoring the fact that you're underselling Black Mask, "It's okay to write this character terribly because they're never important" is the kind of self-justifying logic that keeps a character in the position you're criticizing.
Arkham knight should have been so better than he is , but all the suit , graphics , batmobiles and especially the gameplay make it a masterpiece. The problem is more about characters , hush was supposed to be the main vilain ( a perfect Arkham knight in my opinion ). Red hood being discovered by nightwing or Tim and most importantly the return of Talia ( we all know she’s not dead ). Also catwoman deserved so much and she’s just a prisoner all the game and disappear after. But the ending is fantastic
I have a personal gripe for Jason Todd/Arkham Knight's handling in knight. Now, this has less to do with the story overall, and more to do with the marketing team. I remember it very clearly, how the promo for the game included Geoff Johns (famed comic writer) being brought onto the project to create "an original villain." I remember seeing this and thinking that'd be a really sweet idea, creating an original villain for Rocksteady's final Arkham game feels very fitting (at least at the time they said it'd be the last one. how time's change). So then, going into the game with the knowledge of what they'd talked about doing with the character and saw they'd be working with Scarecrow I was interested. But, I swear to god, during the first confrontation when Knight is telling his crew where to shoot and he's all "who the hell is this guy" I asked out loud to my friend whom I was playing the game with (they'd already beaten the game) "is that Jason Todd?" To which my friend went, "how did you know that?" As a batman nerd, there's literally only one character in canon that has that knowledge + level of spite for Bruce. All that said, I love Red Hood as a character, and one of my favorite superhero movies is the animated Under the Red Hood. I just wish that had their intention been to tell fans we're getting the Jason Todd story, that they'd done that rather than try and sell an "original villain" when it was going to be a rug pull.
I will admit that the swerve where Joker is actually the Origins villain and not Black Mask as advertised was disappointing…at first. But so much good came from it. The game got REALLY GOOD in the second half, Troy Baker did a rather spectacular job in the role and at the end of it all, it was actually kinda cool to be a part of A first encounter between the two legendary forces that are Batman and The Joker. What could have been would have been interesting, but I am 1000% satisfied with what we got, warts and all.
I got freakin 98% riddler trophies on arkham knight and couldn't get the last 2, they were just too hard and that suchs because you need 100% to see the true ending. I would of loved to do that for my Dad, because he watched me play all the arkham games up to that point. Great memories Dad!
The issues I have with AC aren't that many. 1- The performance 2- Some anims being locked behind a challenge map or indoor sections. 3- Some bugs in combat which are kinda easy to avoid (I think so anyway) But the bigger problems are 1- Some sections are just boring (museum boat thingy, although its really easy to pass if you have Line Launcher from NG+) 2- Gliding is way too slow after playing Knight
One problem that i have with all the games is the timeline. Origins should have been set at least 20 years before Asylum. Bruce's time as Batman and him having gone through all three robins feels too short. I also dont see why he just let his identity get out in Knight. Jason or Dick could have showed up and stopped that
If I were to list my biggest problems with the main three games, I would say Asylum: Definitely the "Return To" Batman pouty face. It just looks really weird City: I feel like this game throws a lot more gun enemies at you that do way too much damage, meanwhile you don't really have a great way of consistently taking them out Knight: I despise the Tank on Tank stealth, and the Cloudburst is the worst offender of this. You cannot tell me that boss fight was playtested and then approved. It sucks
I agree with you for the issues in Arkham asylum, but considering the graphics quality and storyline for a game launched in 2009, I believe these mistakes were okay. Despite of it being that old, the game still proved to be the best game of its time.
Asylum: the joker final boss fight is so weak and makes no sense. City: the Bane side quest is so disappointing and ends in such a shit way. Origins: the joker being the main villain again. They had such a good opportunity to showcase new villains in an interesting way and fumbled it. Knight: the way the deathstroke fight ended will always leave a bad taste in any fans mouth.
My biggest issues with each of the 4 original Arkham games: Asylum-Either combat being too slow with not much time to maintain combos or the post game not having much to do. City-Too many riddler trophies. Should have been like 100 or so less. Also Catwoman missions not being optional and having to play as her after the story before being allowed to free roam as Batman. Origins-The city being dead makes free roam less exciting compared to City and Knight. Also the occasional glitches, limitations with the Worst Knightmare challenges and unlocking special abilities and not having many spots to grapple on in the city, dropping combos in combat more easily than City despite Origins using the same combat system, and some of the side missions being the same as City's side missions and not getting great rewards or having great endings with completing them like never encountering Enigma after collecting all the datapacks and destroying all the network relays. Knight-Either some of the characters being underused or not much of threat to Batman like Harley Quinn and the Arkham Knight (compare him to Red Hood from Under the Red Hood movie) or some of the side missions being grindy like the fire fighters and the militia.
@@jaretco6423I was debating about adding that but the combat and post game felt like a bigger issue. Also not being able to do vent and grate takedowns is annoying.
@ConnorWiederich-hr4zu That's true. But the bosses are also the worst part of the game. Alot of them are big guys effected by Titan Venom and does the exact same attack pattern with no variety of battle and have it's goon do mostly the dirty work. The only one that kinda stood out to me is Poison Ivy. But even she wasn't that interesting.
@@jaretco6423 I know what you mean. Most of the bosses in Asylum relied on throwing a batarang and dodging. Even the fight with Bane pretty much played out the same way as the fight with the Titan monsters. Overall, City and Origins had the best boss fights out of the four Arkham games, while Asylum and Knight were lacking in interesting bosses..
what makes worst Knightmare even more awful is that encounters don't respawn and a few challenges can only be completed in very specific encounters during the story. The stealth track is literally impossible to complete in a new save file unless you can complete the encounter at the bank a certain way when you have the challenge unlocked.
Honestly, I agree with the origins takes, both the story and the glitches. I spent more time fighting the bugs than the criminals in that game, and story wise Joker was one of the weaker parts of the narrative for me. I feel like Batman’s character arc carried the game’s story, and ended up being the best part in my opinion. (Also, I agree with your point about the medics in knight, especially since they can somehow revive enemies who get shot by Red Hood)
I feel like the side missions suffer because so much of the development was focused on the Batmobile sections, of which there are far, far too many and descended into endless tank battles far too much. I don't know about anyone else, but I played the Arkham games to be Batman, not a tank commander.
The worst thing about Asylum is that the combat and traversal feels really stiff after you play the other games. City's worst aspect is probably having a number of side quests appear based on RNG, like the random acts of violence or Deadshot and Hush's missions. Origins, while a fun game, has *a lot* of things that bother me. Glitches, a linear Skill Tree, Batman being able to evenly match several powerful assassins without too much trouble despite only fighting mob goons up to this point, etc. If I had a pick a main thing from Origins, though, it'd be the Dark Knight System purely because of how frustratingly rigid the Predator challenges are and even how some of the other remaining categories have their own little frustrations as well. I can't speak for Knight since I've never played it since I've never had a PC strong enough to run it. But if I had to guess what my complaint would be, it'd probably be that the game needed more fights against Batman's Rogues Gallery instead of tanks, choppers, and the like. It's weird to me that Batman can throw gadgets in midair, but that doesn't come into play against Man-Bat or Firefly, who are both basically defeated in cutscenes.
i actually really enjoyed the arkham knight side missions, firefly got repetitive and i do wish they did more with the man bat and hush missions and definitely the deathstroke one they literally could have just done a similar one to what they already made and everyone would be happy
Okay I honestly don’t get the pc drama w origins I’ve 100% the entire game every mode all achievements except online and I have had literally zero bugs whatsoever
If anyone disagrees with my Problems with the games, then we can gladly discuss them in a friendly conversation. Arkham asylum: 1. Due to the fact that this game takes place very late into batman's career, we have no time to get to know the character. This is really bad, as the scene of batman stopping to not throw the batarang at joker as nothing in the sense of build up. We have no idea what these two went through, nor why batman would have a hard time not to kill the joker when that Problem is never shown with any of his other villains. The only game that even comes close to giving us a look at their relationship is Arkham origins, with this simply being far too little too late, as joker had already died in City. 2. Batman should have had a Gas mask built into his suit against scarecrow's fear Toxin. His extreme Environment suit had a face mask, so it isn't impossible for him to build a suit with that Feature, Especially since origins and asylum are years apart. Batman just shouldn't have been caught like that, Especially when the game says that he is a master strategist with a genius intellect. 3. Batman is only ever called a master of many martial arts, when in fact he is someone who has mastered all of them and even created his own fighting styles numerous times. Yet, for some reason, that is never stated for batman in the arkham games. Why did he only master some martial arts and not all of them? We don't know and it makes batman seem incredibly stupid for not bothering to master all of them. Arkham city: 1. Batman shouldn't have just walked into joker's room.and get caught like that. When he enters the steel Mill, bruce already knows that joker is there, so he should be on high alert. Not only that, but when he attempted to enter the room the first time, he was ambushed by mr hammer, giving batman further reason to not walk in like an Idiot. What bruce should have done, is use detective Vision at the entrance of the room and then taken a look around. If he had done that, then he would have noticed clayface's joker in the corner of the room and never gotten Infected with joker's blood. Most of arkham city's tension is derived from batman's ever worsening condition throughout the fame, which can only happen if batman is an absolute Idiot. He should have never gotten Infected, unless you want to insult the character's stated Intelligence. 2. Joker's death feels unearned. Considering that this is THE emotional climax to the whole saga, they really shouldn't have killed him in the second game of the series. At that point, we know next to nothing about him, his relationship with batman is nearly nonexistent and his death feels like cheap writing because they needed a different ending from arkham asylum. The only reason this death is shocking is because it is the joker, not because we spent time and got to know this soecific Version of the character. 3. Batman is unable to stop protocol ten or joker's death, making him seem like a terrible hero. Bruce had twelve hours to stop Hugo strange and still failed. Hundreds of innocent would have died in Hugo's attack and batman was unable to prevent even a single person to die. To give insult to injury, he is also unable to heal joker in time. Batman has utterly failed the people of gotham and himself that night. Which is really terrible, considering that batman is supposed to be one of the greatest heroes on earth. Arkham origins: 1. Bane figuring out Batman's identity just like that makes bruce seem incompetent. No one should be capable of just figuring out batman's identity. He is the World's greatest detective and a master strategist, bruce would obviously do everything he can to make it seem impossible that he is batman. We also never get to see how bane did it. The only evidence that is shown is a sentence both bruce and batman say, which obviously isn't enough to make that leap in logic. The game just expects you to take it seriously and doesn't even bother how bane came to that ridiculous conclusion. 2. Bane should have never gotten into the batcave. Someone like bruce would obviously have all sorts of defenses against someone trying to break into the batcave, making it impossible for bane to even get in. Batman had to take a whole body scan in asylum just to get in, and bane has a completely different body to bruce. He also doesn't have the same fingerprint, nor eye color. So no, bane getting into the batcave is just an insult to batman's intelligence. Either, batman didn't bother to install safety measuress in the batcave, or his defenses were so terrible that bane can just bypass them in a matter of minutes. Arkham knight: 1. When batman arrives in the mixing chamber, he should have immeadiately knocked scarecrow out. Crane tells him nothing that he wants to hear, and any second wasted trying to talk to him only gets ace chemicals closer to exploding. 2. Batman's descision of just throwing crane away and then reverting his attention to his wrist communicator is terrible. Especially at that point, he should have knocked him out, but the game needs batman to be an Idiot so that the plot can happen. There is no reason for batman not to knock crane out. 3. If batman really Was that desperate to contact Oracle, then he could have done it after knocking crane out, or while he is restraining crane by throwing him to the ground and placing vis foot on scarecrow's chest, just like the multiple thugs he interrogates. 4. Using the wrist communicator is just dumb, as it takes bruce's entire attention away from crane. This is Especially sumb when you consider that batman already has a communicator in his cowl, thus making the wrist communicator redundant. 5. The wrist communicator in General is stupid. It Shows a large picture of anyone that batman is contacting. Imagine if someone saw batman communicating with bruce wayne's butler. This just needlessly Puts his identity at risk. 6. Robin and nightwing are no characters. The game just wants you to believe that both of them gave so much history with bruce, despite never bothering to tell you what they actually did. Nightwing's goodbye to bruce also lacks any Kind of weight, because this is the first time we ever meet them. Once again, the games act as if just showing these characters on screen is enough to make the Player care, despite never bothering to Set it up in any way. 7. Nightwing should have never gotten caught by penguin. We have seen batman take out entire Groups of people, with nightwing being his equal. This would mean that nightwing would have easily beaten penguin's goons and that the game is just insulting nightwing's training by having be unable to Do so. He was trained by one of the greatest fighters on earth, someone who can beat thugs up while handcuffed, yet nightwing is unable to beat penguin's thugs? That is just stupid. 8. Batman should not use fear Toxin against crane or anyone else for that matter. Bruce knows that this Toxin can cause someone like officer owens to kill other people and even scarecrow said that it can make ten men go insane. Yet batman is just using it on random thugs after knight, despite there being a high Chance of them never recovering from it. This goes against one of batman's Main points, that being that he will do everything to save someone. If batman makes a thug go insane due to the fear Toxin, then he has just robbed that man of any hope for redemption. 9. If batman is willing to potentially break people's minds with their worst fears, why did he never Grab scarecrow's fear Toxin before and just used it on every inmate from the asylum? Batman obviously doesn't seem to care about redeeming his enemies, so there is no reason why he shouldn't do it. Do you see how this one Action takes into question batman's whole character? 10. Batman getting his identity revealed is the worst choice in all of the arkham games. This would ruin anyone that is associated with bruce. Wayne enterprises and any other company connected to bruce would immeadiately be shut down, due to their Association with a vigilante. This would make it impossible for bruce to continue being batman, as he heavily relies on lucious to build New gadgets for him and repair any damage to his suit. 11. Not only would bruce no longer be capable of being batman, but all of his loved ones would be in danger. Due to the fact that Dick was adopted by bruce, it would not be difficult to figure out Nightwing's secret identity. Due to the fact that even random thugs on the street know who nightwing is, it wouldn't be too far fetched to say that he too has enemies. This would make it very easy for anyone to figure out where Dick lives and then just ambush him. 12. Bruce should have definetely prepared for such an Event. He should have multiple different identities for not only himself but everyone of his extended family. This didn't happen, which makes batman an Idiot for not thinking ahead.
I never got most of those bugs in Arkham Origins on pc. The only bugs I got was the game skipping audio cues occasionally. But then again I have the community patch downloaded so maybe that has something to do with it.
Are you using the new nvidia app digital vibrance ? cause the colors do look more saturated or you also disabled depht of field in asylums cfg cause thats what it looks like without it ?
I would say that the Arkham series, as told by Rocksteady, was more of an analysis of Batman's fear that he could someday end up like The Joker. You see it in Scarecrow's nightmares in Asylum, and it's made actual text in Knight. City doesn't really do too much with it aside from occasionally point out Batman's culpability in letting The Joker continue committing his atrocities and there's some Cain/Abel imagery as well with the picture and them "sharing the same blood", I suppose. With that in mind, I don't think Origins really adds anything meaningful. Joker is introduced and goes from not caring about Batman to being obsessed with him. That's about it.
The biggest problems I have with every arkham game is. Asylum: aged porly in many parts City: I don't really have any big problems with it. Origins: haven't played it in years, wish I could play it. Knight: story could've been a lot better, the overuse of the batmoble, it isn't in the game much, bit parts like deathstroke fight was ridiculous.
Unpopular opinion : I enjoyed catwomen DLC , it really did open up the Arkham world, seeing Arkham City through Catwomen. I enjoy her combat and yeah she's slow in predator however I often found the challenge enjoyable where as batman predator becomes too easy and reminded me of Arkham Asylum where predator is acc difficult.
2:30 not much of a boss fight but for as much shite that rais talks to you through out the game i do like that the fight is push a button or 2 to shut him up
I already know im gonna hear about the batmobile being over used even though you spend only 5%of the game in it during a 120% run Edit: holy shit it wasn't! It was actually a good issue, the boss fights were pretty eh, same with the side missions, im glad this is being pointed out
Arkham Origins Ps3 performance is still really bad. Im gonna replay it this Christmas again but i know it will have problems in the open world (gliding) and cutscenes (stuttering).
I'll say here about your short video, actually is best to Start Batman Arkham Origins after Shadow if people want since take place after Arkham Origins and after Asylum which Arkham Asylum has many elements from the graphic novel with the same name, Batman Arkham City was better if was just Hugo Strange, Batman Arkham Knight originally script by Paul Dino wa s different with Scarecrow and Hush as main villain but wb didn't liked the idea and went with Arkham Knight, not to mention Rocksteady studio is at the end of Arkham Origins end credits and Wb cancelled their game that would be Batman Beyond kinda game, you would play as Damien Wayne. You understand better the plot if you start chronologically order
Asylum for me just the lack of stuff to do but it’s on an island so can’t blame it city include robin a bit more origins for me overall good knight better boss fights include bat family for free roam and maybe robin can go after two face and night wing after penguin give them unique side quests that would’ve been great and better dlc because 15 minutes story packs were horrible
Here are my problems with all 4 games Arkham Asylum = Too many Riddler trophies Arkham City = Too many Riddler Trophies Arkham Origins = Too many Riddler Tro...Data Packs Arkham Knight = TOO MANY TANKS!...Oh and Riddler Trophies. Lets not forget that. 🙃
And maybe for the story packs maybe u could include a playable free roam after beating it like matter of family now Harley Quinn and cat woman don’t need that but red hood in downtown Gotham and nightwing in bludhaven
Out of curiosity, why haven't you tried other VR games? You already have a headset, and there's a BUNCH of amazing games out there for that console. Let me know if you want some recommendations. Let me know if you have any genre preferences.
Imo city isn't even good. The only thing i really liked were the hush setup, grundy and clayface fight, some easter eggs, riddler, and hugo strange which ended up being a waste. Overall the story is just terrible, league of shadows ruined the game, joker was eh, and catwoman just made the game even worse since it slowed down everything
My biggest issue with Arkham City is the story. I actually believe it to have the worst story of the “four main games”. The story of City just felt convoluted, with far too many plot points going on at once. Also, why would Batman carry the Joker out of Monarch Theatre, and not his now dead lover, Talia? Why is he leaving his lover to rot in favour of a murderous clown?
@CrusadeOfDesire Well at the end of the day, story is story. Doesn't matter. What really matters is the gameplay and man, City is easily the best one out of all the 4 Arkam games. It is so much fun.
Asylum is my favourite it not perfect but i really enjoy it and origins enjoy it as well but like you mentioned about the glitching I’m having that issue at the moment as well
About the arckum shadow Quest exclusive thing... Outside all exclusives on platform you don't have never feeling great... Thier are a ton of reasons for this like even now porting is stil;l and insane undertaking even in games that 100% should work on everything is still and huge udertaking to port as any imposble Doom port showcases... Also platform exculsive do make or break a platform hince why every success platform has excliusive titles... But unlike the PC market being split up which is now being wholy reversed as Steam is getting back all the games taken off and now better then ever and GOG is even has near parity with tseam with new relases... But on consoles exxclussives do sell the console... Hince why Xbox one-series X are very niche products that the quest XR headsets are crushing so hard since 2020 and the gap has only griown since.... Like playstaion and Quest are almost neck to neck now while Switch is gone left not only the area code but the mmilky way galaxy compared to the other cuerrrnt gen consoles... Amd switch 2 is coming soon honestly it';s shocky Nintendo has only hinyted at it and not anoced it yet vary odd for them as they normally anoce a console for that crimas at E3 time or I guess now Steam's next fest time... Whhile this hint at it anbd make people go crazy with hypoe is Meta's XR playbook they have always done thos with all their mass market headsets... So yeah honestly if your right the only mistake aboutr the exclusity of Shadows is not being avable for Quest 2 or PCVR and I jhagve noidea why as the game can easly run on both so why limit your sells? Which while you could easly make a PC mod for the PCVR version to make it flat screen... The game would lose it's biggest selling point... you being Batman abd walking in his boots seeing world though his eyes... Like that effect hits insanely hard in shadow because unlike the vast majority of VR games you are your sself or a character you never thought being... Being Batman on the other hand is a very common fanasty people have and why "I am Batman" hits ion so many levels even if it's seems like a silly meme... While thye new Indiean Johns games shows you can ghhave the same effect in a flat game FPS's are great at thyhat... It's just VR is so much better at it espaly how Shadows does it... So yeah while techicly it can easly work flat... In reality it realy can't being one of the VR games that can easly work Flat and should have a flat mode... Like VTOL VR... Arkum shadows is not that at all... Like I doudt it would be as much of a success or even greenlit if it was a normal flat arkum game... as the game does work at all in that formate... Also like yes if only have PC and only buyt games under $10 or less yes getting a Quest 3 is expensive... But to the vast majority ofmiodern gamers? No it's extremely afordbkle compared to how much money they spend on microtransaction and DLCs... Also Outside on Nintendos the quest 3 is very cheap 9if you want to just play 1 killer app... Like imaign if thes was an Xbox series X exclusive, A PS 5 pro exclusive or a top end 2024 PC exclusive? Like how much worse would that be?
Arkham Origins biggest problem is that its production was rushed. The game had so much potential, but the city was empty as fuck, didnt had much to do, not many good side missions and the game was really limited, specially for reusing Arkham City
I really hate shock gloves being forced in Arkham Origins. And the fact that its broken (not as in overpowered, the mechanic of it), so in overworld you can't do ground takedown with shock gloves, which resets your combo. You also can't do double or triple counter in AO free roam. Which limits combat a lot more. The redirected aerial attack is inconsistent which is really bad considering it ruins the flow more. One issue they could've fixed from City is the fact that some animations are locked behind challenge maps or indoor sections, but no they didn't which also broke the 1st and 2nd (simultanous counters and shock gloves anims), luckily that got fixed in Knight. Why do I think Shock Gloves are forced in this game? Because to activate it you need to press STRIKE + COUNTER, which if you're doing a beatdown and you need to counter it immediately activates, but you can delay the input, right? Then you'll miss the counter, and you can't really activate them without striking which also can ruin your combo if everyone is on the ground.
Hot take: I think the Catwoman sections wouldn’t have worked anywhere else in the game because then there would have to be another bs way for Batman not being there to interact with Catwoman
My weakest points for each are: Asylum: No post game/side quests. City: Weakest story with Catwoman only making it more annoying to play through. (I especially dislike her traversal options. Climbing walls are just annoying especially with the time based minigame in it) Origins: Stuck on PS3, 360 and PC. We need a remake. I have no issues with Jokers involvement, but would love for Black Mask to still be either A. Part of the main story still, B. A better side quest than we got or C. A DLC on par with Cold Cold Heart. Knight: I would say boss fights. When done they're either great or lame, but they're barely done. The great ones include Killer Croc (DLC), Joker+Quinn (also DLC), Riddler (need to collect every trophy though), Arkham Knight (I liked it) and Pyg. The lame/underwhelming ones are Deathstroke and Two-Face (is that even a boss?). Harley Quinn DLC Nightwing boss was good imo, but makes no sense for her to win especially with how in the games had Batman no dif her each time. I wouldn't call any Batmobile section a boss fight except Deathstroke, but Firefly was cool. Just not a boss. Same with Man Bat, Mad Hatter (DLC), Penguin, Mr Freeze (DLC). The only non boss to be underwhelming imo was Hush. I think people hyperfocus on the 20% spent in the Batmobile in the game that introduces it while having had 3 games before without it, Hush, the easy to look over part of them calling Arkham Knight an entirely new character and Deathstroke. Like it's easily my favorite cause I can see those flaws as better than the flaws in the other games imo. Shadow: Haven't played Shadows yet, but I'll use that to say the biggest flaw is being stuck on Meta Quest 3.
I can say that I agree with you but I have my own issues with Arkham games. Yes, I like them and I still enjoy playing them, but these problems that I have with these games are ruining, if not preventing at all, the experience for me. Starting with Arkham Asylum, after I found out from many documentaries, videos and posts that, originally Arkham Island should have been bigger with more locations and stuff to do, it triggered me and I can't just get over the fact that, we didn't get that version of Arkham Asylum. I mean, just think about it. It should have a bridge that would lead to beacon with some extra quests to do and some other extra islands that you could visit. That explains that huge beacon in the distance near the shore of Arkham Island. So it sucks that we didn't get more of this game because, after you beat it, there is nothing to do. You can free roam but so what? If you already collected all Riddler trophies and done all of the puzzles, then there is nothing to do. You just running around and trying to entertain yourself by making up ideas in your head of what to do. Which is not good if you ask me. With Arkham City my main problem is the lack of Nightwing DLC. And there is info online that they were planning to make one, having you playing as Nightwing with his own story. And I would love to play as him. I mean, if Robin and Catwoman got DLC then what's the excuse for not giving one to Nightwing? And then Poison Ivy. Why is she even in there? She is not a part of main story. She just appears in Catwoman's DLC but she doesn't do much, so why is she here anyway? She could easily be replaced with Prometheus or Maxie Zeus to tell more interesting stories. But instead we have her and she does not do a thing. What a waste! As for the Arkham Origins, my main problem is that, it doesn't have many of it's open world features realized. For example, watch any of the presentation of Arkham Origins from any conventions. Notice how you can see a train driving around the tracks here and there or some random stuff happening on the background without you been a part of it? That is called the immersion. In the final game it all was removed. Sure, you still have random crime happening in the final game but it is repetitive, scripted and not what it should have been. And then it sucks that they don't let you play as Deathstroke in main story as a side mission or DLC story. Like, you can only play as him in challenges but not in the main game. Which is a wasted opportunity in my opinion because, after final credits he was SPOILER, recruited to Suicide Squad. So giving him his own DLC would be nice, where he would done some dirty job before joining the squad. For the Arkham Knight it is simple. I don't like the fact that batmobile was overused a lot. You can argue with me about it as much as you want but the fact still remains. You can't do almost anything without batmobile, and even in sections when you are playing as Batman, they still stick the batmobile in to those sections one way or the other. Sure, it is fun to ride around on your first playthrough but the more you replay the game, the more it becomes annoying and boring. But the solution for this was simple. Rocksteady could have just allowed players to beat any missions and quests either with or without batmobile. It should not have been a mandatory and player should have to decide, how he or she wants to complete missions. Imagine the variety and how interesting it would have been if you were not stuck to batmobile all the time and had opportunity to chose the way you wanted to beat the game. But we have what we have. And then Batman now is no longer gliding, he is frigging FLYING all around like Superman. Try to do it with real gliding wing suit in the middle of a big city. You will glide so fast down to the ground that, if you are not careful, you will end up like a fly on a car's windshield, smacked in to incoming building. Ain't much of a flying is it? So in my opinion, Rocksteady should have left gliding from Arkham City, instead of giving Batman ability to fly, like he has a real wings or something. But if they wanted him to fly so badly then why not give him rocket boots, like in that old Batman Beyond TV show. Would made a lot of sense. And finally, as for the Arkham Shadow my main complaint is that, it's a VR game. Why? Because it is expensive hardware and lot of people can't get it because of that. Again, you can argue with me as much as you want, but in my country VR hardware is nearly impossible to get because it is ultra expensive. Unless you are son of some kind movie star or rich guy, then it's not a problem. But for me, who even struggles with upgrading my own PC, buying a VR hardware is next to impossible. But the solution for all this was simple. Making a standard action game WITH VR support as a separate game mode and that's it. That would have done it. Just make it to be a standard Arkham game and add the VR mode that we have now in this game to it as a option. That way everybody would be able to play it. But instead I had to watch full playthrough here on youtube. Looks like them businessmen never learn and stick their nose in to wrong business.

Don't Killer Croc and the Scarecrow sections count as bosses? I think they added a bit of variety to the gameplay.
@joshpetzoldt6344 No. Not really. There more like stealth and chase sequences rather than boss fights. It's like with Sypro 1 on PS1. There not actual bosses. There more like obstacles to avoid or take down.
I liked killer croc fight
The open space on the map in City that you can't glide over so you have to go around it
Yeah, that area does make getting around the map a bit of a pain, but I suppose it had to be done, or you could get to the top of Wonder Tower and confront Hugo Strange long before he starts Protocol 10.
@@joshpetzoldt6344they could've maybe give you a shortcut? Like a secret tunel that takes you from Pinguin museum to Joker hut.
Based
Yea I agree. Idk why he compared the firefighter mission to the political prisoner one. Yea you’re rescuing innocent people but the way they’re completed is night and day.
100% agree
City gets way too much praise compared to the other games.
@@MrKing-771 Fax. Honestly I don't know if it's nostalgia bias or something else but my god ppl glaze this game WAY too much
I agree with most of these takes.
Thanks appreciate it! At least they aren’t too big of a deal I think anyway!
I don't get why people still use the PC port as an argument to criticize Arkham Knight, they fixed that a long time ago.
Prometheus should’ve been used in the Arkham series either as a main antagonist or a side antagonist
I could say the same about Killer Moth. Why is the best Batman killed of screen by Red Hood?!
Black Spider and maybe Captain Boomerang should have replaced Lady Shiva and Copperhead as assasins imo.
@@kendi5391Captain boomerang over Shiva fr?
@@discogypsyfish9577 Yep.
I'd love to see in depth fight agains Captain Boomerang as it'd be not only creative and challening but also pretty fun. Imagine throwing batarangs to counter boomerangs but if you miss they come back, striking from behind.
Shiva is a martial artist and I don't see a big point in implementing her since Deathstroke's already in the game.
I agree. Idk why they would tease him for multiple games if they weren’t planning on using him.
I thought City had the best story. Catwoman sections serve so well to slow down pacing, at least for me. It gives you a bit of break
I think the main problem with the story is when protocol 10 begins and Batman Just decides "saving the girl comes first"
At least they could have justified It was because of the cure
@@MiroMachadim I don’t think that’s an important moment for the story unfolding. He decided to go after protocol 10 first after all
The way Tim Drake was written in Arkham Knight
and don't forget his shaved head.
What was wrong with the way he’s written?
And his design. He looks like he's in his 30s
@@tjjonesartwork how old did he look like in Arkham city then?
Him with Barbara Gordon felt off since that's usually Dick Grayson's girlfriend and the buzzcut I'm 50/50 on it.
The fact that shes forced makes her trouble, some sections are hard to pass because of lack of gadgets in predator + some people don't prefer playing as Catwoman
and her ground takedown anim is the slowest
@@SeriWTR she wasn’t forced her story intertwines with batman perfectly
A good way to implement Jason Todd was put clues to where he was held and maybe set him free
Yesss a branching timeline 😂
I recently replayed all 3 games and lord was the combat in asylum was so weird getting use to again. Like I literally forgot after you beat joker there’s nothing to do except collect riddler trophies which I’m not gonna do. Arkham city is still my favorite of the games and I really enjoy the catwoman sections/being able to traverse as catwoman in Arkham city is sm fun. For Arkham knight I i wish they had more boss battles that weren’t regulated to the Batmobile.
Yeah true takes me ages to get used to Asylums combat if I take a break!
I agree I really quite liked driving around the city being a menace, driving villains to the gcpd and listen in on their conversations. But I fucking ABHOR riddler’s race tracks especially Condamned, and rocksteady sidelining traditional boss battles for tank battles
What about Origins?
You answered your own post 😂😂😂😂
Yeah would love a remake with all the cut content and some side missions!
Not remake. Just a new game with Arkham Asylum vibe. But with AK gameplay and way better graphic.
Don't forget the bosses in Asylum being lacking.
Yeah Black Mask is a very cool character. It would've been great if he was the villain instead of Joker.
Yeah I think so too!
I love Origins as well but those glitches were beyond frustrating . The glitch i had was a common one on Steam. For some reason i couldn't block Joker's knife attack in the church at the very end. I was soo close.
So strange I never experienced that!
Imo these are the issues I have
Asylum:The combat and gadgets are just kinda slow
City:The catwoman segments take me out the game to much
Origins:Joker was imo the best in origins but black mask should've been the main antagonist and joker should've been his own individual thing
Knight:The riddler trophies and most of the story are pretty mid and they removed my beloved sonic batarang😔

Underutilized the bat family could have involved them more inside of the main story
Making the antagonist Jason instead of the original concept which is hush
Over used Batmobile
Complete lack of boss battles
Main story wasn’t that good
Other than these points gameplay wise it was perfect
Yeah I agree!
Joker reveal was peak, don't @ me.
Black Mask has never been an important character apart from being canon fodder from someone. Like from Jason in Under The Red Hood.
That’s fair just thought it would be cool to see someone different!
That's pretty fair but I thing black mask should've been his own thing so he isn't fodder.
Yeah true I will Jason got built up in the older games also!
1- The performance
2- Some anims being locked behind a challenge map or indoor sections.
3- Some bugs in combat which are kinda easy to avoid (I think so anyway)
But the bigger problems are
1- Some sections are just boring (museum boat thingy, although its really easy to pass if you have Line Launcher from NG+)
2- Gliding is way too slow after playing Knight
One problem that i have with all the games is the timeline. Origins should have been set at least 20 years before Asylum. Bruce's time as Batman and him having gone through all three robins feels too short. I also dont see why he just let his identity get out in Knight. Jason or Dick could have showed up and stopped that
If I were to list my biggest problems with the main three games, I would say
Asylum: Definitely the "Return To" Batman pouty face. It just looks really weird
City: I feel like this game throws a lot more gun enemies at you that do way too much damage, meanwhile you don't really have a great way of consistently taking them out
Knight: I despise the Tank on Tank stealth, and the Cloudburst is the worst offender of this.
And literally yesterday I thought I could do it fast enough before someone does a video like this thinking I was so creative😭
My biggest issues with each of the 4 original Arkham games:
Asylum-Either combat being too slow with not much time to maintain combos or the post game not having much to do.
You forgot in Asylum for how lacklustering the bosses are.
The only Catwoman element of AC that gets me is the climbing method they use- I can never do it!
Did you know that at different times of the year calendar man says different things when you talk to him in arkham city
i actually really enjoyed the arkham knight side missions, firefly got repetitive and i do wish they did more with the man bat and hush missions and definitely the deathstroke one they literally could have just done a similar one to what they already made and everyone would be happy
Yeah I've never bothered attempting to collect all the riddler trophies, I'm not really a complitionist and that seems like way too much effort
Batman Arkham Asylum's flashbang is inexcusable. Especially in the remasters, there are games over 20 years old that don't cause me physical pain
I noticed you didn't mentioned the Arkham Origins Blackgate mobile game, clearly because that game is a flawless masterpiece.
What about Origins Blackgate and City Lockdown??
Ooo!
Nu Rockstedy said that Suicide squad KTJL is part of the Arkham
Sweet baby inc was also involved with spider man 2 and the latest god of war game and those games are amazing
Honestly my biggest problem with Arkham origins is the lack of line launcher…
Medics you gotta use the disruptor first.
Okay I honestly don’t get the pc drama w origins I’ve 100% the entire game every mode all achievements except online and I have had literally zero bugs whatsoever
If anyone disagrees with my Problems with the games, then we can gladly discuss them in a friendly conversation.
Arkham asylum:
Arkham city:
Arkham origins:
Arkham knight:
You forgot arkham blackgate for the 3ds
No no I got schooooool
Are you using the new nvidia app digital vibrance ? cause the colors do look more saturated or you also disabled depht of field in asylums cfg cause thats what it looks like without it ?
It’s in Premiere pro where I boost the saturation and sharpen it a tiny bit!
For me, Joker is perfect as a villan in Origins. These games were always about their relationship, so that's normal they went with him
I would say that the Arkham series, as told by Rocksteady, was more of an analysis of Batman's fear that he could someday end up like The Joker.
Maybe Joker could have been one of the assassins that was hired by Black Mask
Joker isn't a capapble assasin, there are better options for uniqe bossfights and it feels out of character.
The biggest problems I have with every arkham game is.
Asylum: aged porly in many parts
City: I don't really have any big problems with it.
Origins: haven't played it in years, wish I could play it.
Knight: story could've been a lot better, the overuse of the batmoble, it isn't in the game much, bit parts like deathstroke fight was ridiculous.
They’re good points in fairness!
2:30 not much of a boss fight but for as much shite that rais talks to you through out the game i do like that the fight is push a button or 2 to shut him up
Yo bro what mod are u using for those shaders in asylum
I already know im gonna hear about the batmobile being over used even though you spend only 5%of the game in it during a 120% run
Edit: holy shit it wasn't!
I enjoy having joker in all of the games
Here are my problems with all 4 games
Arkham Asylum = Too many Riddler trophies
Arkham City = Too many Riddler Trophies
Arkham Origins = Too many Riddler Tro...Data Packs
Arkham Knight = TOO MANY TANKS!...Oh and Riddler Trophies.
No arkham vr or origins blackgate?
True
The body of Talia was taken by the assasins but your totally right , I also doesn’t understand why she’s not in Arkham knight ( she is still alive )
@@THOXXXX How do you know that her body was taken by the assassins? And yeah, her body is missing from the morgue in Knight.
Yeah, Arkham City definitely had the weakest story, I don't get the hype over it.
@CrusadeOfDesire Well at the end of the day, story is story. Doesn't matter. What really matters is the gameplay and man, City is easily the best one out of all the 4 Arkam games. It is so much fun.
I wish arkham shadow was on console cuz im not really a fan of vr games
Asylum is my favourite it not perfect but i really enjoy it and origins enjoy it as well but like you mentioned about the glitching I’m having that issue at the moment as well
Riddler trophies
More clunkier?
Also, goated video. Keep it up!
After some time the beginning gets really boring. Do stuff in blackgate, go to batcave, go to the comms tower do stuff there and THEN you get control.
Developers should have added costume that looks like Shocker from Spider-Man.
Hot take: I think the Catwoman sections wouldn’t have worked anywhere else in the game because then there would have to be another bs way for Batman not being there to interact with Catwoman
BS way ? What do you mean ?
@ some lame excuse for Catwoman and Batman to not interact without a story explanation
I just wish they worked catwoman into the actual game’s plot instead of a bunch of family guy cutaways in the middle of the story
shut up catwoman was fun and necessary for batman , its why arkham citys the best
White knight detected lol can people not have different opinions ya dope
Catwoman bolas
My weakest points for each are:
Asylum: No post game/side quests.
City: Weakest story with Catwoman only making it more annoying to play through. (I especially dislike her traversal options. Climbing walls are just annoying especially with the time based minigame in it)
Origins: Stuck on PS3, 360 and PC.
I choose to comment
Lets be honest here, Black Mask is a bigger character than Joker....
Wouldn't say bigger but better.
